Dragonball Evolution

Re: Dragonball Z live action !

Alter boy?

So......never mind too easy.

so i'm guessing its krilling?

No, no, I'm betting he's going to be that cat (as in individual) that hangs out with Kami, whatever his name is.

I wish he was playing a talking cat (as in Meow!). No CGI, just wearing a cat costume.

Like I said, it's Street Fighter all over again.

i looked at those set photo's and instantly thought "what is this Power Rangers?"

and before mole pipes in with "hey Power Rangers are cool" I'm going to say "no they aren't ,they haven't been cool since the early 90's"

Agreed. This movie will make Super Mario Bros. look like The Godfather, Part II.

No, the Power Rangers were never cool. They've always been lame. Its just now they're lame with a long, established precedent.

This is a compelling and highly re-usable argument.

Re: Dragonball Z live action !

from http://www.dragonballmovieblog.net/

DBthemovie has some info regarding James Marsters at Grand Slam XVI. Most interesting is what he said regarding Piccolos appearance and how the movie reflects the manga.

-They wanted Piccolo to be more beautiful than he wanted to be. The character was in prison for 2000 years, so he should be old, ugly and decrepit. But they went for makeup that was safer and more young and beautiful, so he went to the makeup guy and said, hey, we can add back with paint what they removed from the sculpt because the producers aren't here, and the director was fighting the same fight, so they made him older again.

-They have changed a few things in Dragonball, but the script reflects the heart of it. So much of Dragonball is about power and unrepentant violence. So much of it relies on post production. He's in so much trouble - 20th century told him not to talk about it. Oh, but he's not telling anything about the plot, he's just saying his experiences as an actor, so they can't sue him, right?

A video of that interview http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdeHwTMeq3s

pretty cool and I hope fox doesn't sue him or not use him in sequels over it as it's not a mayor detail he only said a few little things.

My favourite line he said is right at the end

I figured it would be better to be fired then mess up piccolo

Now that's a guy who loves the charracter and it gives me more hope for the film.

Ernie Hudson joined the cast???

Maybe Mr. Po-Po?

I feel dirty after looking at that, so much of Dragonball screamed racist to me.

Re: Dragonball Z live action !

actually, it's a lot more than that.

Like when Saiyans power up, they go from being Japanese, to Caucasian.

Actually wouldn't it be the opposite? Since when they go Super Saiyan the eyes actually narrow? Though this is just reflect less-innocence than before as the bad guys have the same eyes.

Also besides Mr Popo who agreed is racist there is nothing racist about Dragonball. The main story is a guy coming from another place but yet been able to fit in (when he hides his tail) with everyone else.

Plus let's not forget the fact the end of dragonball (not counting gt) is Goku vs Uub who was black but was strong and didn't look racist in away.

Re: Dragonball Z live action !

Pffft.

In anime and manga, when characters begin to look white, they're not actually becoming white.

Re: Dragonball Z live action !

And the superer he gets, the more Aryan he looks.

They referenced that in one of the movies. I think it was the janemba one, movie 12? Hitler and his army are ressurrected and Goten and trunks are fighting his tanks off and decide to go super saiyan. Then Hitler looks nervous and Trunks says something to the effect of his greatest dream becoming his worse nightmare.

Re: Dragonball Z live action !

VFX Confirmation?

We've never really had word on who would be handling the visual effect for Dragonball. We know that Ariel Velasco-Shaw is the VFX supervisor, and we know that Image Engine and Ollin Studio were doing pre-visualization work. Well, now it seems we have confirmation that Zoic Studios (Van Helsing, The day After Tomorrow, Spider-Man 2) is working on the film.

Also

This is from Shonen Jump #24.

That picture looks cool as hell
