The internet has been a buzz with the talks of a supposed early draft of Dragonball written by Ben Ramsey. Initially I wasn't going to post this, but considering the film has gone through several major rewrites since then I'll give it a shot.

You can download the pdf here.

So, what do you think? Is this real? Fake? Good? Bad?

Discuss on the forums.

Here http://dragonballmovieblog.net/Dragonball Z.pdf

I'm not reading it incase any of it IS in the final draft but it's here for anyone curious.

Dragonball Teaser Shown at Cinema Expo?
25 Jun
Posted by JP in Rumor

Screen Daily has a report on the 20th Century Fox presentation at the 2008 Cinema Expo in Amsterdam. According to the site, Dragonball footage was shown at the reel presentation.

Delegates were also shown footage/trailers/teasers for thriller Mirrors (starring Kiefer Sutherland), French box-office hit Taken (starring Liam Neeson), Mark Wahlberg's new film Max Payne, The X-Files: I Want To Believe, Dragonball, romantic comedy Bride Wars (starring Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway), Night At The Museum 2, and unseen footage of Tom Cruise Second World War drama Valkyrie.

:D could this mean the teaser will be out soon? I hope so.

Re: Dragonball Z live action !

I can't say it's an out and out terrible and egregious idea for him to play Max Payne, but yeah that is kind of meh.

And I say this as a crazy psycho fan of Max Payne.

Yeah I was almost ready to rule it out, but I figure, give him a chance. That's why I left it up to question.

You haven't heard about the Max Payne movie?

It sounds decent, actually. We'll see.

I really didn't know it was in talks or in production(is it?). That's why I was taken back by that comment. That and this DBZ movie is already dead to me, at least for theatrical release. I'll wait a few years until it comes on TBS or something.

I know people say this about video game based movies ALL the time, but I see absolutely no point in making a Max Payne movie.

It is a video game that is fundamentally about converting cinematic conceits into gameplay experiences, and to take the player element away leaves you with well, an action movie narrative that isn't really all that interesting to adapt.

(Though I still think the Max Payne's deliriously existential and self-aware character arc is wonderful stuff, and the game is possibly quite more innovative than people give it credit for.)

Re: Dragonball Z live action !

the first official Dragonball Banner/Theater Standee!

Re: Dragonball Z live action !

I'm reminded of the live action movie versions of Street Fighter (the 90's version with Van Damme) and Double Dragon (with that kid from Party of Five).

Doesn't bode well.

It gets worst when you realize this film cost 100 million dollars to make! Seriously for a 100 million dollar budget, I would have hoped the film didn't look like a cheap 90s movie.

Re: Dragonball Z live action !

Yeah, I'm disappointed.

It looks crazy in the wrong way.

They should take the insanity of making an American adaptation of a Japanese anime and RUN WITH IT.

I don't think the general audience wouldn't care for that.

I think the subject matter is too wacky to adapt, like the FF, the subject matter just doesn't translate to the silver screen.

I don't think this will be bad as them at all.

Still not seen a teaser or anything yet to truly judge it one way or the other. The poster looks cool and gives the feel of how Transformers was made live action to me. I'm still exited for it.

Considering its directed by a guy who has produced nothing but duds, I think that should be a sign of the quality of this upcomming film.

Plus they couldn't even hire some famous people to help sell this? I mean its not like DBZ is that well known in America. Instead we have Spike from Buffy and what's left of Ernie Hudson's career. That's not going to be able to sell this.

Famous people do not make a movie good. Plus the dragonball name would sell it enough so there's no need to do it. As for the director The One and Final Destination were great. So I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
