Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

+1000 Ourchair Points.

For no other reason than because I can.

Aunt May: "Such nice young girls!"

Peter Parker: "What are you talking about, you senile old ****? They're total sluts!"

*beat*

Aunt May: "Such nice young sluts!"

Yes, but not as frequently as females.

And just to be clear, Women In Refrigerators doesn't refer to the death of female characters, but specifically to female characters whose death is mostly executed as a means of character development for the male.

When was the last time you saw a male character die as a means to 'develop' a female character?

when they needed insurance money to "develop" their boobies.

Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

The really sad part of all this is that, in my opinion, ASM #547 features some of the best art of McNiven's career so far, even better than in Civil War. I especially liked the look on Marla Jameson's face when she sees JJJ connected to all those machines in the hospital. Plus, the eerie transformation on the last page was really well done.

Andy in charmed
Superman's death helped to develop wonder woman and lois lane
Cole In Charmed
Like almost every horror film with a female lead
Alex in Power Rangers Time Force

I could on but I think you get the point. When it happens to a Male charracter people don't think twice about it over than "Damn , I liked that charracter" sure it's happened to more females but that's because there is more male's in the main role of stuff than females.

In COMICS.

Which is what Women In Refrigerators applies to. Simone even makes it a point to say that TV and movies don't follow this.

As for Superman's death developing Wonder Woman & Lois Lane, that's questionable. Much of Superman's death was just whining and moaning on Lois' part on the meaning of a world without Superman and the meaning of HER world without Superman, there was almost little to nothing it did to actually develop Lois' character.

(I didn't mention Wonder Woman because I'm not going to claim anything I don't know for sure, just for the sake of falsely defending my point).

I enjoyed the last two issues very much. One of the things that was missing from Spider-Man was his witt before.

Awesome art, too.

I agree. I haven't regularly read a core spider-book since the Clone Saga and I'm interested in this one. Maybe because its got a very Ground Floor feel to it, or maybe just becasue its Dan Slott doing the main spider-book instead of one of the doesn't matter side books (you know they didn't. Thats the whole reason Amazing just ate them).

I might follow this. It'll piss me off to no end that they hooked me, but I just might.

Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

just realize that Slott's writing every third month.

Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

I just finished the last two parts of the Negative story arc.

It was super fun. Loved it. I burst out loud laughing many a time, especially at the whole, "Well, that was a fun 46-year long run!"

Highly entertained. The fight in the circus was fun, as was Spidey's, "sure have my blood... sucker."

Negative - I still don't like him that much. He'd be a better Batman villain. But the rest was great - especially how Slott got Spidey to go from hunting the mugger to getting involved in Negative's plans.

Top notch. Haven't enjoyed a Spidey title this much since SPIDER-MAN LOVES MARY JANE. (When is that coming back?)

Never!

Otherwise The Q would have to admit that they tell "Peter Parker is single" stories.

Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

But... he is single in it. Or dating Gwen. I fugget which.

Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

It's not coming back , Apparently the gayness of the comic was overloading the printers/press (i forget the right term for comics) and costing Marvel thousands to repair , so the cut their losses.

Just a rumour though don't quote me on that
