I'm starting the second arc of Archer and Armstrong and I really do not like this. I know most of the other ones took three to five arcs to start getting interesting so I'm going to get caught up but so far this is really bad.
It's not bad, it's excellent. And it gets better as it goes, as it starts tying stuff together (hints dropped in earlier issues) from previous issues. By the American Wasteland arc (the current arc running through A&A #20-23) it's brilliant.
I just finished the Armor Hunters stuff (minus Unity of course). I'm really nervous that this is going to get rid of the new status quo. I'm also really confused why Bloodshot and Harbinger are being brought into this (I suppose I should wonder why Unity is too but I have no idea who Unity is (don't tell me)). Ha!
You really should read Unity first before the Armor Hunters stuff. Harbinger, Bloodshot, and Unity all tie into the AH mini, and some of it may not make sense (and spoil you in terms of plot development) without reading those first. Unity has been quite good overall. The second arc was brilliant. Very original villain with a very original plan.
As for disrupting the status quo, I'm sure AH will alter some things. After all, the status quo is meant to be changed. If it remains the same it gets boring.
I will say that Unity is Valiant's version of a super team (Justice League or Avengers), who are put together to take on big threats (like AH). It consists of Aric, Livewire (from Harbinger), Ninjak, and Eternal Warrior.
The tie in issues (Armor Hunters - Bloodshot and Armor Hunters - Harbinger) obviously focus on those characters and what they're doing during AH. AH-H doesn't focus on the regular Harbinger characters (Harada and the Renegades), but instead the Generarion Zero kids (who were introduced in the Harbinger Wars mini and showed up in the most recent arc of Harbinger).
It's best to read all that stuff before diving into AH. It's not necessary, but it'll help prevent spoilers and give you a better understanding of what's going on in AH.
