I feel that hands down the traitor is Natasha. I can't shake the idea. She is the only character besides Fury to wield a handgun, she is black-ops enough to rally such an attack, she had reason to kill Hawkeye (considering they were black-ops together, joined together, and he could possibly have information that would bring her intentions to light), AND she's badass enough to do what was done. If she is the traitor, she's done well. She has full intel on American Super-Soldiers, weaponry, war tactics, she has successfully comandeered Stark technology (via the suit she now wears), AND she's security cleared to do whatever she damn well pleases. Could she be doing this for Russia? Wouldn't it be a delicious twist of fate if Natasha is not the real Black Widow at all? Maybe she's disposed of and replaced another girl (could've been a cute blonde named "Yelena") and is a double-agent in her place? JUST MY THEORY!

It's about time that someone is seriously considering the widow. it's obvious that she is playing Stark and scored some serious hardware in the meantime.

As far as her being disappointed with "this America" we should remember that many Russians have an idealized version of America piped in through the media. She might have been deep cover all along, but enjoyed being one of the "good guys". It's a little painful when you find that all world powers, yes even good ol' USA have too much of the bad stuff in common.

Woah buh-buh-buh-budddy!! The entire time I've been saying and praying it's Natasha... it's about time whaaa...

I agree with your post.

Now I've been thinking:

A lot of over-the-top things are happening here, worse for the guys than ever before. Hawkeye loosing his family, and the potential danger that might/will most likely happen to the others. With that, they might decide to take a leave of the group. And since with Volume 3 we most likely will have new characters, this is all the set-up that's needed for the guys to exit.

I'm not convinced. With all the time invested in the characters in the Ultimates, for them to just tottle off into obscurity seems like a waste.
Looking from a media perspective too, if the USA's primary superteam decides they are giving it a day and heading into hiding, this would cause the funding from the government to dry up immediately. They have already been criticised for being overpaid and underworked. So, should the core leave, then the Ultimates go bye bye. How can a team responsible for national security simply give up when the going gets tough? It's impossible.

I dont know! It was just a thought!!!!

I thought that it was an ok issue, it could have been better. don't ask me how; it just felt as if there was something missing. i can't put my finger on it just yet.

i liked the ending right before the Misses goes and gets whacked, she says something like "why are you making them coffee, they had a contest to see who our body gaurds would be..." i just found it funny.

OK, got back from Hols, won't get to the comic shop till thursday. Was the traitor revealed in this issue? (dont tell me who it was!) I really dont wanna have to traul through 16 pages.

Nope.

So...Nothing on the traitor at all?

S/He has a few lines and some dialogue with Hawkeye, but no clues really.

Sheesh, whats the main focus of the issue then? Hawkeye's family being killed?
No they focused on all of the characters at some points. The main thing is that whoever the traitor is is being shown working his/her way through their mission. When the traitor is revealed something that we're not noticeing from the other Ultimates will begin to make sense.

Yeah it's really pretty well done. 3 main scenes - the 3rd world country disarmament, a nice dialogue scene with Thor and Tony, and the scene at Hawkeye's house.

2 things I noticed after re reading this issue (please feel free to shoot me in the face of these have already been mentioned):

-While the country that the Ultimate go into is never directly said, it is clearly highlited on the map on the first page: Iran. Makes sense. According to most experts, Iran is the place that actually has WMDs and could pose a serious threat and that we should forget about Iraq and start dealing with them. Hitllar did their research.

-Did anyone notice the line "That'll be Wanda back for her purse. Poor girl was so tipsy going out that door she could hardly string the words together for their disappearing spell." Spellcasting? Another one of SW's abilities? Hmmm....
