Re: Ultimate Power #4 Discussion (spoilers)

This was better than Bendis's issues, but that's not saying much.

I, too, didn't care for how Thor is talking now. Makes no sense that he wouldn't use modern English like he has been.

Spider-Man was just...off. The whole scene was just so forced and seemed like they were just taking up space.

It's ridiculous that this is going 9 issues. An entire issue for Thor to transport the team?

This has been a colossal disappointment so far.

Hey maybe the real thor was awaken..i mean didnt Loki messed with him before?

Re: Ultimate Power #4 Discussion (spoilers)

this was so much better than Bendis's crap, it's not saying much but it is a marked improvement, my only problem with the whole issue is the whole "verily" bit's with Thor, but the issue wasn't anything too rave about.

the art i have no problem with, because it's land and you kinda get what you pay for with him (even though it looked like shadowcat was wearing granny-panties)

JMS did a great job with Spidey's dialogue i thought for once Peter wasn't a bumbling retard, for the second person to ever write dialogue for Ultimate Peter Parker he did a better job than Bendis does with it.

im-proved (ĭm∙prōōvd) v. 1. made of fabric other than skin-tight spandex, allowing for actual breathing and movement on the part of the wearer (see: intelligent design). 2. Cut in such a way as to leave something to the viewer's imagination; lacking holes whose sole purpose is to draw attention to cleavage and/or minute details of the wearer's anatomy (see: appropriate).

I'm going to be disappointed on this, aren't I? :?

If you have to ask, you haven't figured out what Land is tracing yet.

In one scene, you can see Sue's belly button through her jumpsuit. And there's more Kitty upskirt (while she's sedately walking through an enclosed, windless hallway).

Re: Ultimate Power #4 Discussion (spoilers)

This issue made me cry for the ultimate universe.

They're trying to make this story cool by involving Fury in a cover up, but I can already tell it's going to make for a total let down of a story.

Re: Ultimate Power #4 Discussion (spoilers)

I read #4, and have not read the others. The synopsis for the first three issues just made me go, "Huh?" - There is no way it's three issues of story there.

The first three issues have two scenes -

Squadron Supreme show up.
Reed chooses to go with them to their universe.

I'm sorry. That's not three issues. Two at the most. No way is it three. #4 has the following scene -

The Marvel universe guys go the Supreme universe.

That's it.

That's not an event big enough to fit an issue. Sure, there are other scenes, but of little import. Not only that, but the... it reads like a video game.

There's no conflict in the story. Thor says, "Verily mortals, this may kill youeth."

Why? There's no indication of that throughout the issue. They just travel. As they do, Cap wanders around looking for Fury. Fury thinks Kitty is looking for the toilet.

There's no conflict in the issue.

To quote Robert McKee, "Conflict is to story what sound is to music".

Damn shame.

There's no conflict in the issue.

I'm right there with you. In any serial format, from comic book to comic strip, it is important is to maintain dramatic tension not just over the course of the entire story arc, but within each installment, as well. So far, there hasn't been enough of either.

Re: Ultimate Power #4 Discussion (spoilers)

Sometimes, I wonder why Bass is such a big deal on these forums and why everyone talks about him so much. Then I read posts like that that perfectly encapsulate everything that sucks (or rocks) about a series. That post is a masterpiece, ladies and gentlemen. When you are telling your grandchildren, "Back in my day, we had decompressed comics! It was Bendis all the way!" and they say, "Our comics are drawn by cyborg Liefeld clones! Why is that so bad?" you should show them that post to explain it.

Re: Ultimate Power #4 Discussion (spoilers)

You realize that now we have to kill you, right?

They keep their drawing utensils in hundreds of pouches but still don't have a straightedge. They are kept in secluded bunkers under Marvel HQ and have never seen a real woman. They are surrounded by huge screens constantly flashing "X-TREME! X-TREME!" They have no light and thus no concept of shading. All of comicdom worships "the Kings". Somewhere, a small community of rebels pay homage to the true King, Jack Kirby. They do not know that their ramshackle hideout is currently surrounded by police-robots with guns bigger than their legs.

The odds of any poster on this site having grand children is proportionately diminished by the amount of comics they have.
