Re: Ultimate Power #2 Discussion (spoilers and whatnot)

There's some leeway allowed there. After all, if we assume Ultimates Vol. 1 ended somewhere in the middle of 2003 (Ultimate time), and Vol. 2 picked up in 2004, it wouldn't be much more than a year that had passed. I can forgive him for not mentioning the exact amount of months or days that had passed in addition to the year. Honestly, thats just nitpicking. ;)

So, even with that ambiguous time reference, what Fury said still makes sense...least to me.
Yes, and you nitpick, too.

But even then, there were no mole men in the past year alone with the invasion. He said all that happened in the last year alone, so it's all wrong. It's Bendis. Just admit he ****ed up continuity again.

Re: Ultimate Power #2 Discussion (spoilers and whatnot)

It's amazing how some people... like Land.

Anyway, despite being pretty big on Supreme, this issue pretty much sucked. Too much fightin', no plot, some really lame lines ("You made a BIG WHOOPS!") and Rogue and Nick Fury can fly all of a sudden.

Re: Ultimate Power #2 Discussion (spoilers and whatnot)

It was...whatever.

Art was good, and that's pretty much what held my interest. For some reason, I liked when Ben was getting punched over and over and him going, "Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow".

Now this does seem to take place at least after Ultimates 2 for sure (at the moment anyways) since there is no Black Widow. Having Ant Man there does complicate things until we see who he actually is and why he's there if he's Hank.

But the thing I hated the worst was ,"My name is Nick Fury and you're all under arrest!" It's just...WTF. I mean, something like "Whoever the hell you jackasses are, you can bet your *** you're all going down!" would've been better.

Ultimate Power #3 Discussion (spoilers)

I'll do the dirty deed.

No spoilers necessary if you read issue 2, by the way. Nothing happens in here. It's like the anti-plot.

It starts out in the Supremeverse. Reed's dimension ball thingy pops up and starts growing some fungus stuff everywhere. The Squadron fights it a little then they see a message from Reed. They decide to follow the message back to its source despite having NO previous knowledge of other dimensions (a scientist even asks "Other dimensions?" or something) let alone dimensional travel.

We'll just follow the transmission! I can't bake a pineapple upsidedown cake, but let's visit another dimension!

So they go to UltEarth and arrest Reed, who decides to go along. Fury holds a gun and says they'll get him back.

After the end of issue 2 the entirity of issue 3 should've been on the first page. Worthless, pointless, stupid. Only better than issue 1 because of the lack of glaring continuity mistakes. In the Ultimate Universe anyway. Nothing about the Supreme Universe jibes with the current issue of Squadron, but presumably this could still take place in their future.

1/5

Re: Ultimate Power #3 Discussion (spoilers)

Agreed on all counts, but I'll give it a 2/5 only because Bendis didn't butcher the Squadron characters as badly as I thought he would (still terrible, I just expected much worse). The story is still at the same point it was at the end of issue #1, really.

Re: Ultimate Power #3 Discussion (spoilers)

I liked it.

3.5/5

My only problem was when Reed explained why he sent the orb through. I completely forget it was to help Ben and I rolled my eyes when he said it again. This was especially tiresome after reading UFF because they brought up "Thing hates himself" there too. Seriously, would it have been so out of character if Reed thought to himself "**** Fury. I'm the smartest man alive and interdimensional travel could prove far more beneficial."

This whole mini is still a bad idea though but I kind've liked the issue. Especially the part with Reed giving up and Sue freaking out about it.

Re: Ultimate Power #3 Discussion (spoilers)

Well, at least Bendis is done. No more continuity errors. On to the plot! (Hopefully. . .)

Re: Ultimate Power #3 Discussion (spoilers)

absolutley nothing happened at all in this issue. 1/5

did anybody notice that fury had both his arms? i thought that this took place after ultimates 2

Re: Ultimate Power #3 Discussion (spoilers)

It seems to take place in some sort of nebulous non-time, for both universes, where nothing makes sense.

It's like they're deciding to erase this whole mini from continuity while still writing it.

Re: Ultimate Power #3 Discussion (spoilers)

. . .except Loeb said there would be lasting consequences for both universes. People get left behind. . .supposedly.

I hate this book.

Re: Ultimate Power #3 Discussion (spoilers)

Then it's one of two things.

1- They were lying to hype it up.
2- Most of this will be retconned a month after the mini wraps up.

It's a terrible idea to do such a large mini, written by three people, that retells an old Avengers story which barely made up enough story to last through that single issue.
