Huh. I didn't think this was that bad overall.

It was almost totally ruined, however, by this line:

"My name is Nick Fury, and you're under arrest!"

:roll:

Other than that...yeah, it was a vapid fight comic devoid of substance, but as those go, it wasn't too bad. The bit about them having to adjust coming out of a quantum whatchamacallitl...typical Bendis. A minor plot detail that's more interesting than the plot it supports.

I LOVE this quote - What an economical (and accurate) way to sum up BMB. He, for me, is like the Saturady Night Live MOVIE version of a comic. I picture him coming up with some really cool ideas, that would support a half issue, but then takes 8 issues to tell the story it turns into...then the ideas aren't so cool. Coneheads was funny for 3 minutes...unbearable for 90.

This imprint used to be the best thing Marvel was putting out. And now it's getting so bad.

SO VERY BAD.

And looking at Joe Mad and Loeb taking over Ultimates (the best of the universe)....Cable in UXM. Clone Sega in USM...yep...it's the nineties.

Now if it could just be the Ultimate 2090s I'd be a very, very happy man.

I still have every single 2099 comic ever published. I sold off 90% of my collection a few years bak, but I kept them. I'm rereading them now.

Crap on the 90s all you like, they deserve it, but I started reading comics in 92, so there's nothing but warm glowing memories behind my cataracts.

How can anybody look at this art and not puke? I tolerated it in UFF because of teh zombies, but this is killing me...I know it's pretty, but since when did Kingsley get the same powers as Reed for stretching limbs? (see page 3, I think)...Who did Land reference for that last, outrageously ludicrous pose of Hype? Was it Coleman or Olivia?...Then the fact that most of the "fighting" looked like one person in a fighting pose, and the other person was off panel getting their *** kicked...And why was there three pages of the Blur running around, but doing absolutely nothing? As if the cluster **** of a continuity mess didn't confuse me enough, that completely did...I've read it 4 times and I can't figure out what he's doing, someone help...Then the stupid banter with Kitty?...When did she start to swear casually?...I expect it from the SS, but it never struck me as in Kitty's character...I wish my anal completism would let me drop this

People who do nothing but rag on Land's art is just as bad as peoiple who do nothing but rag on Bendis' writing.

We all know his drawings are supposingly traced.

Go away, post something informative.

This is getting ridiculous, every damn thread I'm opening lately has someone *****ing about something, you're all acting like your in a comic book forum or something.

I actually thought this was pretty good !! Bendis barely wrote anything advancing the plot so minimal space for continuity errors, and as I said before he can set up a good story so I'm sure by issue 4 we'll have forgotten all about the slow opening to the series !!

Large fight scenes to me are superb,and to have one involving most if not all the Ultimate line heroes in one place,not separate cities,is pretty exciting regardless of plot !!

Excellent ending to the story leaving you hanging for the next issue !!

I pray that Reed does get arrested and Hyperion stays in the Ultimate Universe that would be a worthy swap for a wee while (from a biased Ultimate point of view)!!

I like storylines as much as the next guy so roll on jms<*> he will rescue this series !!

I think it's possible to look at this issue from two viewpoints and come away with two impressions:

Stand-alone semi-What-If: hey, this is kinda fun, lookit all these characters fight!

Important, meaningful cross-over that affects Ultimate U continuity: egad, what a trainwreck.

Why not both, its comics, things will come together, i love continuity it wrecks my brain every time I buy a comic, but thats why I love it, I'm kinda crazy that way !!

Bendis can try but I will defy him !!!!!!

I don't know about everyone else, but I'd like to hear what you have to say about yourself in the UC Member Introduction Thread !!!!!

on topic, I took a look at this, must say I was unimpressed... I think it does have the capacity to pick up and the idea that Reed destroyed their world is intriguing, at least... !!

I agree but here's the problem. You don't need the Crossover. You should've created a kickass ultimization and had Reed **** up their world. Like Ultimized the Exiles or something.

I just think that 9 issues and 3 writers in such an order can pay off !! time is relevant !!
