Ultimate Marvel Timeline / Chronology (v. 3.0)

Right, but all I was doing was correcting DiB. The HC *is* better than the 3 TPB volumes, but it's impossble to find. The TPB just came out and is easy to get, and contains everything the HC did.
I was just sayin' the TPB, too.. :(

The new UMTU Ultimate Collection TPB collects the same things the HC does, i.e. all 16 issues plus the Super Special.

Correct. This is the brand new TPB collecting EVERYTHING - not the 3 small volumes.

Ah, ok. Wasn't aware of that.

Exactly. I just wasn't aware a softcover version of the hardcover (lets face it, thats all it is) was available. It is indeed a good thing, however, given the HC's rarity.

Looks like I'm the first person posting this on comic day today after the release of Ultimate Power and Ult. X-Men. In regards to continuity, both issues frustrated me!!!! Before I found this discussion thread, I had been trying to chronologically organize my Ultimate titles as well.

So, Ult. X-Men first... I'm reading, its still matching the theory that, like most things, it takes before the takeover of America in the last half of Ultimates 2. Fury makes a comment about the braclet he's giving Xavier that it was designed for Hulk, but was too late. That even further confirms the idea that this takes place before Hulk shows up again in Ultimates 2, since it was too late, i.e. he was supposedly executed on the ship but now is roaming free. So, everything's all fine. And then, AND THEN... Logan and Storm's FRAKKING training session!!!!!!! What?!?!?!? How is this supposed to now take place after Ultimates 2?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

OK, Ultimate Power, which has already been hyped as taking place after Ultimates 3, which is annoying enough. Reading this issue, was it just me or is there no way this takes place so far down the road. Fury's comments on all that has happened this year ruined that... 1, no comment on the takeover of America, which, ahem, would have been noteworthy alongside everything else. 2., his comment about Hulk being who knows where, which would fit nicely into continuity right before the end of Ultimates 2 with the takeover.

Both these issues really annoyed me continuity wise. Any thoughts?

Also, first time poster here in case you missed that. Frakkin' excellent timeline here! I immediately took it just the other day and cross-checked my own organization of how I fit things chronologically (on my own over the summer mind you, as I did a re-read through of everything) and I was just slightly off and since the timeline here was so OBVIOUSLY right, I changed mine!

Anyways, thanks a bunch, can't wait to hear any more comments on Ult. X-Men 75 and Ult. Power 1. Maybe I just read into things too much.

Welcome. And you're not the only one frustrated by the continuity aspects of the issues. Both really threw a wrench in things. Not to worry...I'll figure it out...I hope.

I'm just going to assume it does take place after Ultimates 2. The Hulk comment by Fury could be taken that Hulk escapes again after the conclusion of Ultimates 2. We can also assume that Fury either gets a replacement arm (cybernetic or biological). So for now, I'm placing it after Ultimates 2. We'll see if the Fury arm thing is addressed in Ultimates 2 #13, which is scheduled for December. Until then, I'm placing the Cable arc after Ultimates 2. However, this arrangement does help make more sense of the Nightcrawler appearance in Ultimates 2 #12.

Exactly. It was advertised by Loeb himself as taking place between Ultimates 3 and before Ultimates 4, but I'm not seeing how thats possible now. A bit more light will be shed on that point in future UP issues I'm sure. Least I hope. Once the Ultimates make an appearance it should help establish it a bit more concretely.

Again, welcome to the site. I look forward to your obviously keen mind in terms of continuity discussions.

Updated for Ultimate X-Men #75 and Ultimate Power #1. Due to my computer being screwed up and not having internet access at home, I can't currently place the School of Tomorrow back-up story with Doug Ramsey since I can't remember the name of the story itself, nor the page numbers it ran on (I'm using a friend's computer until mine is fixed). I'll update again later this week with that addition.

I agree. I dorkily look forward to posting on/reading this thread every day now!

Hey, as I was just checking things I realized that when you moved "Magical" and "Cable" to after Ultimates 2 (which I also did), you left the big chunk of Ult. X-Men Annual 2 (which has to take place after Magical) before Ultimates 2. Wanted to let you know.

Me again, have another question. After I completely updated my list, I just had a few questions where you did page breaks in issues. For the most part, I was able to see why. There was one place, however, I wanted to ask what was going on there. In X-Men's Return of the King arc, in issue 32, why do you stop after page 10, then read Spidey 40-45, before finishing X-Men 32 and 33. What did I miss? Thanks!

Hey there mate !!

still doing an awesome job on this I see !! :)

Just a thought I had while reading UP......... it seems to me as if it takes place sometime during the latter part of U2 though before the invasion obviously !!

Im pretty sure that U2 is set over a fairly large time frame !!

let me know what u think

I think Loeb mentioned that Ultimate Power takes place between Ultimates 3 and 4.

The reason I think it happens around then is because Nick Fury gives a run down of whats happened in the last year when he's ranting at Reed and he mentions nothing about the invasion !!! he even mentions the alien invasion at the end of Ultimates !!

One small question. I am sorry if this has already been asked, but the "Vision" back stories, where do they go? I can't seem to find them anywhere on the Chronology. All I find is the issues with two asterisks meaning that they are not yet released. Any help?

Ultimate Vision #0 (that's in the timeline) is a collection of all the backstories.

Yes, but you have to remember that DC created Bendis from a test tube, and he was designed to ruin the continuity of the Ultimate Universe.

But there's no solid evidence beyond the original claim that this series will take place between U3 and U4. Sure, guys at Marvel said this but things tend to change. At the very least, Bendis' run or a portion of his arc in Ultimate Power takes place before Grand Theft America. The Triskelion is pretty much intact, and Nick Fury mentions every single UFF and Ultimates adventure yet forgets the most recent one? Bendis can screw up, but not this bad.

Exactly. I don't think it's even worth debating whether this takes place before or after GTA. As I believe DIrishB has done in many instances, it's always better to look to the pages of the comic than in interviews and such for the timeline placements.
