Ultimate Comics Spider-Man (discussion/spoilers)

Re: Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 2 (Discussion/Spoilers)

I think it was meant to be obvious. If it was not, Bendis wouldn't have said that it was a known character in the first place, and he wouldn't have had the reveal so soon.

I liked the issue, even if as some people said it was really fast, perhaps a little bit too much. But i liked how Bendis showed how hard it was for Johnny and Bobby to settle for a more discreet use of their powers now that they aren't public anymore. And Mysterio is really a good villain, creepy and dangerous. By the way, I'm calling it now : Mysterio is in fact Wade Wilson :D

As for Kitty being Shroud : it makes sense, she really is angry about how she is treated after Ultimatum, but still can't blame them too much. And the power set is coherent with everything that was shown before.

Re: Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 2 (Discussion/Spoilers)

I hate the UU. And will hate it if Deadpool is actually Mysterio.

Re: Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 2 (Discussion/Spoilers)

Ah, I see. You will hate everything that is ever done in the UU then, no matter how good or bad it is. And can I know why you hate the Ultimate Universe?

Re: Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 2 (Discussion/Spoilers)

I'm definitely loving this book right now... Maybe even more than in the early days... I legitimately do not understand what there is to complain about.

Yeah, same here. Altough I do agree that the last issue seemed a little short.

Re: Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 2 (Discussion/Spoilers)

So... Ultimate Spider-Man is now Ultimate Runaways, right?

Re: Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 2 (Discussion/Spoilers)

Is it true that the fill in artist is now the new permanent artist?

Re: Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 2 (Discussion/Spoilers)

The little sibs are digging this title. And isn't that all that really matters?

(I am too, btw. :p )

I don't think so

The book has a very different feel than it used to, but it works. I'm enjoying it. This issue was pretty good. I kind of feel like it was really sort of the end of the introductory arc. We are now familiar with the new status quo, Mysterio will be out of the picture for a bit while he sets up his new base, those six issues can be published in a tpb and Bendis can start telling some other stories.

I kind of like that Peter isn't really enjoying where everything has landed. His relationship with Gwen is moving a bit too fast (as it would if you were living in the same house as your gf). He doesn't really like having his space invaded by Bobby and Johnny. Things are still awkward with Kitty and MJ. There is plenty of material for good stories there.

I'm kind of wondering if Kitty's nosebleed at the end was significant. Is something going on with her powers? Or was that just from the fight?

Only thing I really have to complain about is the art. Up until now I've tolerated the new guy, but #6 just really made me angry. Don't get me wrong, he's a good artist - but I just don't think his style works very well for this book as well as the odd choices he's made for some of the characters looks. It's just too anime for me. And I get that Ultimatum messed up peoples lives, but I don't think every character should become emo and get mohawks, eyebrow rings, etc.

Bendis, however, is still doing just fine. This issue was a little weaker just because I felt it was a little too fast, but it had some great character work outside the action (which is what I feel Bendis does best with USM). Although, I was kind of hoping the reveal would be a little more shocking than Kitty Pryde, but we'll see where he takes it.

I was wondering the same thing. It didn't seem like she had time to get punched, plus it seemed like it was necessary we see her hurt.

No, Miyazawa will only be there for the two-issue arc about Rick Jones, and then it's back to Lafuente. As for the future, it will depend on how Lafuente can handle a 12-issues-a-year schedule. At least that's how I understood the thing.

Yeah, it makes me a little sad as a Peter/Gwen fan, but it is still interesting and I want to see where it will go. Although I don't understand why Peter said that he didn't have time to think about his relationship with Gwen when he said that it happened month after the broke up with MJ. He should have had plenty of "off-girlfriend" time no?

I'm also quite fond of the way Bendis is writing Johnny's and Bobby's trouble to cope with their new "hidden" status.

Preview for Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #6 :

http://forum.superpouvoir.com/showpost.php?p=322118&postcount=90

I think this issue is going to be great! And I can't help but believe that some of the things said by the characters are added by Bendis after he looks on his board, like the
mention by Peter that he doesn't understand how Aunt May will be able to support all those people!

Well, this looks like garbage. :?

I think the only character who is really more "emo" is Kong. Peter's hair is ridiculously long, MJ went back to the 'brainy Janey' look from the first few issues, Gwen has ALWAYS been a little edgy or whatever you want to call it. Go back and look at her first appearance in USM #14 (page 9). Kitty isn't emo, neither are Johnny or Bobby, nor Aunt May.

I think it means that Peter jumps into relationships just b/c he likes having a girlfriend and he doesn't really think it through. (As would most teenage boys if they had that many options.) He and Mary Jane broke up, Kitty made a move on him, he reciprocated and the started dating. Then Peter and Kitty started realizing that it wasn't really working and Peter got back together with MJ before he broke up with Kitty and now there is weirdness there. Then MJ and Peter broke up again and again Peter stated dating Gwen. Doesn't matter that he had some 'time off' between girls, he didn't think it through and now he's living in the same house as his girlfriend who was a really close friend before they were dating and she is the driving force behind the relationship and he is just sort of going along with it. And he's starting to wonder if maybe this was a bad idea.

May Parker, the irredeemable Aunt-Man. :D

HA!

Re: Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 2 (Discussion/Spoilers)

It kinda grew on me. Although May looks like she's a man in drag.

May Parker, the irredeemable Aunt-Man. :D

Post of the Day.

Re: Ultimate Spider-Man Vol. 2 (Discussion/Spoilers)

Is it me or was this whole Mysterio storyline wrapped up in a one page explosion at the end of the issue?

no, the story arc was wrapped up with a one page explosion.

He'll be back for sure though.

But i agree. It was a very abrupt ending. It made it very apparent that the only purpose of this first arc was to set up the new status quo.
