Top 10 favorite comics currently.

So who does The Sword?

The Luna Bros. write/draw The Sword. They're only 7 issues into the series and they said they plna on having this series run for at least 2 years.

Some other stuff from them you definitely wanna check out is Ultra: Seven Days and Girls.

Then:

Immortal Iron Fist
Cable/Deadpool
New Avengers
Ultimate X-men
X-Factor
Punisher: War Journal
Moon Knight
Amazing Spider-Man
The Initiative: Avengers (I know its only the first issue...)
Ultimate Spider-Man

Now:
The Initiative
Immortal Iron-Fist
Ultimate Spider-man
Amazing Spider-man
New Avengers
Secret Invasion (and tie-ins)
....

And no other comic I can think of really excites me at the moment.

You have SOOOOO got to pick up some stuff other than Marvel.

Just looking at your list I would recommend the following:

DARK HORSE
Buffy - Season 8........because almost evryone who reads comics watched the show faithfully. It's just like the show...only with no budget restraints.

IMAGE
Invincible.......perfect for you since, at it's core, its just like Spider-Man.
Walking Dead........a great serial drama/thriller.

MARVEL
Capt America......Astonishing how brilliant it is. Brubaker is making stuff that is proprietary to his run yet influences the rest of the Marvel U.
Daredevil........Brubaker again.
Fantastic 4........Mark Millar and Brian Hitch are making the book crazy awesome.
Punisher MAX......if you're reading War Journal and not MAX, then you're doing yourself a disservice.
Thor......since you liked JMS on AMS.....you'll love his take on Thor.

VERTIGO
Fables.....probably the most consistently good book to be put out every month. It never disappoints.....and even when it occassionally does--it's still amazingly better than a lot of other stuff you'll read each month.
Northlanders.....vikings....with a twist.
Scalped.....Sopranos on an Indian rez.

9. Thor
8. Punisher MAX
7. Daredevil
6. Kick-***
5. Secret Invasion
4. Fantastic 4
3. All-Star Superman
2. New Avengers
1. Captain America

#10 Wolverine
I've really liked Aaron's arc, and I'm really looking forward to Millars Old Man Logan.

#9 Captain America
Now this is almost mandatory, Bucky becoming the new cap has been so perfect, It's such an enthralling book

#8 Iron Man: Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.
This book is criminally under-read, and very underrated, just as good as the Cap book, and quite possibly better

#7 Ghost Rider
I'm really surprised by how much I'm liking this book, I'm really enjoying where Aaron' going with this, this is great

#6 Thunderbolts
It's a shame that Ellis is only going to be on for 2 more issue's, after reading the Goblins monologue in the preveiw for #120 I've fallen in love with it all over again

#5 Incredible Hercules
This is like, a totally unexpected treat, way better than the book was with Hulk headlining it, I hope this doesn't revert back for a good long time.

#4 Avengers: The Initiative
The best of the Avengers books, I just love the way it uses obscure characters, and treats them like they're just as important as the books big-names, plus it's got Ant-Man

#3 Thor
If the pace were more brisk and the book came out more regularily this could be my absolute #1, I just love the way JMS is handling Thor, even if the general plot isn't very original, the characterization and art are just so fantastic

#2 Immortal Iron Fist
It's a damn travesty to be able to say that Brubaker, Fraction, and Aja are leaving in 2 issues, I've loved this book from day one, and I don't expect to stop

#1 Nova
OKAY SERIOUSLY GUYS YOU NEED TO BE READING THIS, out of all the B-list and C-list marvel characters being dusted off and giving A-list treatment lately, Nova is the stand out, fantastic writing, fantastic art, fantastic characters, fantastic plot, just an all-around great book that actually comes out every month

10. Kick-***
9. Punisher MAX
8. Thor
7. Secret Invasion
6. All-Star Superman
5. New Avengers
4. Daredevil
3. Invincible Iron Man
2. Fantastic 4
1. Captain America

10 - Wolverine
9 - Fables
8 - Captain America
7 - Detective Comics
6 - Batman
5 - Daredevil
4 - Thor
3 - Action Comics
2 - Justice Society Of America
1 - Green Lantern

Honorable Mentions - Hellblazer, Scalped.

Wolverine, Fables, Daredevil, Ex Machina, 1985. The Geoff Johns comics are alright but the stories have been dragging for a bit, so I'm not enjoying them as much. I am completely bored with Brubaker stuff other than Daredevil. All Star Superman is ended. Final Crisis never comes out. I don't read any Warren Ellis comics any more.

I am losing interest.

...aaaaaaaaaaaand I'm spent.

Fell is near the top but I'm not even sure that can be considered an ongoing.

Old Standings

10 - Thor - JMS has given us a true god of thunder. Not some golden-haired pretty boy who tussles it up with the local heroes.....but a true god of thunder who has more to deal with than some silly Initiative or Secret Invasion. Though the series may move slow, the intense character development cannot be denied. And Coipels' art is off the ****ing chain!

9 - Fantastic Four - Earth is dying. Reed's helping build a new one. Johnny has a super-villain girlfriend. A giant robot with Capt America's color scheme is kicking the **** outta all of Marvel's heroes. And all this is brought to you by Millar and Hitch. Yeah....the Ultimates Millar and Hitch. It's fantastic (............pun intended).

8 - New Avengers/Secret Invasion - 2 titles that pretty much go hand in hand. Bendis has been building towards this for a year now and it's finally here. Now I'm just hoping this doesn't fizzle out like Civil War.

7 - Fables - The Good Prince arc kinda dragged on.....but now the war has started and I cannot wait to see where Willingham takes us! I'm keeping this up on the Top 10 outta sheer excitement.

6 - Buffy the Vampire Slayer - With BKV's arc in the bag and Whedon back at the helm making Buffy a lesbian and fighting a mysterious new foe with kick-*** powers....this book is back on it's way to being as awesome as the show. And have you read the issue where Xander and Dracula are totally gay for each other? Buffy gold at it's finest.

5 - Walking Dead - Kirkman has grabbed a hold of me and taken me for a completely enthralled ride of terror and suspense. From beginning to end, this book keeps you engaged in the survival story of Rick and his fellow companions as they struggle to stay alive against zombies and crazy self-appointed one-eyed townies! And this last arc has had me on the edge of my seat. If you're a fan of suspense....this is a book you definitely need reading. Too bad his other ensemble book Ultimate X-Men isn't as good.

4 - Ultimate Spider-Man - Like a classic Rocky bout, this book came back with a thundering combo! Death Of A Goblin and Amazing Friends have been the 1-2 combo this book needed to stay in the fight. Bendis is back in rare form here coupled with Immonen's super-kinetic art.

3 - The Sword - BY THE POWER OF GRAYSKULL! I love this book so much that it hurts. The Luna Bros are one of those creative duos like The Wachowskis. You either love 'em.....or you hate 'em. I love 'em. Some might not like the art.....but damn if the mystery the story is bringing you isn't rocking your socks off! Well my socks at least. And I like being barefoot.

2 - Scalped - I said it before and I'll say it again....Scalped is hardcore. Not just in terms of graphic visuals, foul mouthed words, or anything else that would warrant it to sit behind the "No Kiddies Allowed" glass case at your LCS, but because it expertly weaves various tales and sides of the story into one cohesive plot that is as gripping as any critically acclaimed TV drama.

1 - Punisher MAX - Ennis......what do I have to do to get you to stay on this title? Just tell Doom what he needs to do and it's done. Bank robbery? Kidnap J-Lo's new twins? Disrupt the American stock market? Bake a basket of banana nut muffins? Just say the word. I think a bit of me might die inside when he finally leaves.

New Standings

10 - Umbrella Academy - Who would've ever guessed that a guy from My Chemical Romance could bring us some pure awesometastic adventuring in the likes of Grant Morrison or Alan Moore's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen? Did I just compare this to LXG? Yes I did. While the first story is already collected in TPB, Way's new story ( Umbrella Academy : Dallas ) has just released its first issue and picks up where the last volume left off. Seriously folks. I wholeheartedly endorse this comic!

9 - Capt America - You kill off the main character...keep the story going for over a year without him...then have the title character come back---AND NOT AS THE ORIGINAL...and to top it off, the replacement is even more awesome than the original! How does Brubaker ****ing do it?!?!?! Seriously, Bucky is a better Cap than Steve Rogers. Super-heroism, international espionage, thriller/mystery, and naked Black Widow. This should be in everyone's Top 10!

8 - Thor - I stand by my previous statements, but I feel compelled to reiterate that Coipel's art is off the ****ing chain!!!! I just wish that JMS would hurry up and give Thor something to hit already. So lack of god-like action and slow release dates keep this book from ranking higher.

7 - Walking Dead - The last arc rocked me like a hurricane. And now Kirkman has slowed it down a bit and is beginning to build steam again. Aside from a good balance of suspense, comedy, action, and REAL character development...this book has been shipping on-time like crazy! In fact it seems like the last issue just came out like 2 weeks ago and now another issue is coming next week. The downside? Reading in single-issue format is just too quick a read.

6 - Daredevil - Holy **** does it suck to be Matt Murdock. Apparently Brubaker's father must've loved Daredevil a lot, and his love for "The Man Without Fear" was so great that it Bru's mother couldn't take being #2 anymore and she left Bru and his father, forcing them to live off fried baloney sandwiches and pork-n-beans. I say this because Brubaker has been ****ing Matt Murdock's life up like Bru is out for revenge! Seriously Bru.....ease up bro.

5 - Fantastic 4 - THIS is Fantastic 4 as it should be. I'm talking "over-the-top, global or timeline threatening, we fight giant spacemen" F4! While Millar, might be sparce with the dialogue...his flamboyant imagination is well put to use her with Marvel's First Family. If you loved his run on Ultimate Fantastic 4...then you'll love his 616 run. I know I am! Now for a classic Doom battle.

4 - Iron Fist - Kung fu billionaire. And this book just got 73x more awesome by having Foreman as the main artist! Seriously...I have not read a single bad issue on this book (including one-shots and annuals) and we're now up #20. And judging by the ending of the last issue,
we now know that Danny will die and he and Misty Knight will have a son together
. I can't wait to see how this plays out.

3 - Fables - Consistently solid. I have no bad words to say about this book.

2 - Sword - Apparently I am the only one reading this. Fine! More amazingness for me. The Luna Bros. have created an engrossing story of revenge spanning centuries between an immortal family and the daughter of their tormentor. The art, while simplistic by design, is absolutely stunning and can be intricately detailed. Meanwhile the story itself is worthy of any kind of screen adaptation. I suggest you all find the first TPB of this great story and get caught up quick!

1 - Scalped - You like HBO's The Wire or Sopranos? Or maybe FX's The Shield or Damages? Perhaps even Showtime's Dexter? If yes…then you NEED to be reading Scalped. Perhaps you might've missed those TV gems but might've caught Jason Aaron's Black Panther: Secret Invasion tie-in? Or maybe his Ghost Rider? How about his Wolverine arc? Either way…Jason Aaron is this year's hottest artist. Pick up Scalped and find out why this is my new Punisher MAX replacement.

You should re-read that sequence,
The kid is the child that Zhou Cheng's girlfriend was pregnant with, thats why Misty said Danny would have told you to him
CAPITAL CITY OF HELL *****ES!

anywho I better update

In no real order
Nova
Guardians of the Galaxy
The Immortal Iron Fist
Daredevil
Ghost Rider
Captain America
Thor
Moon Knight
Avengers: The Initiative
Thunderbolts

I feel I MUST plug these 3 books again because if you're not reading them you're missing 3 of the best comics out right now.

GO READ 'EM!!!!

I have nothing to contribute right now except of course, another high five to Doom for promoting Scalped.

Its the only comic ourchair leaves his bamboo hut and walks barefoot, 16 miles, thru snake-infested rice paddies, to his comic shop to get in single issue.

What's the twist in Northlanders?

No twist really. But one thing of note is that the once the first arc ends, it tells a different story, with different characters. The series doesn't just follow Sven.
