The All About Comics Thread 4: Gemini Loves Crappy Variant Covers

Neat. I got the Hellboy one, though I think I might switch to Vertigo. EDIT: I found a Fables one.

Nooo! The new Exiles is canceled with issue 6 being a double sized last issue. It's too bad because I thought that Jeff Parker had done a really good job making the team interesting again.

You guys should read Mouse Guard. It's great. I can't wait for the Black Axe prequel series next year.

read this on wiki and found it amusing.

read from superboy primes' wikipedia page:

After a threat about "what happened to Lori", Prime lives in his parents' basement, who support him out of fear for what he might do to them. He spends his days collecting comic books and trolling the real-world DC Comics message boards, remarking that the DCU will never be rid of him and that he "always survives".

EDIT: I wonder if there's really someone on those message boards keeping up with those charades.

It's probably just Geoff Johns.

You know, if Quesada was fired from his current job and left near penniless, I could totally see him do that on the marvel message boards. Then he'd carve this huge 'Q' on his belly and proclaim, "You'll see, I'll never explain magic."

If Joe Q ever did get fired I doubt they'd be able to get him out of his office. He'd totally camp out and set a bunch of traps Rambo style, and then Quesada would just kick back and watch people impale themselves while eating Cheetos. Naked.

Ugh. He did that at the Summer BBQ of '07. Twice.

Not good times...

I met David Lloyd today at my comic shop and got my copy of V for Vendetta signed and sketched:

I asked him how hard it is to work off of Alan Moore's scripts. According to him, Moore actually wasn't writing scripts like he infamously does at that point in his career. About halfway through V, he started to, and Lloyd told him to cut it out, as he thinks that kind of writing restrictively limits an artist.

I for one, would be too afraid of being magicked out of existence to tell Alan Moore to write differently.

Gene Ha, was also at the signing, just hanging out, and I totally didn't recognize him. Then I walked past him as he was talking to someone else and they were talking about his design of Caesar in Top 10. But I'd just walked past him like he was nobody and I was too embarrassed to talk to him then. "Oh, sorry Mr. Ha, I didn't recognize you because all Asians look alike to me" Oh well, I think I overheard the manager saying he'll be doing his own signing in a couple of months at the store, so at least I'll have a funny story to mention if I meet him then.

Re: Marvel to Publish Marvelman!

I'd really love to go back in time to 1992 and quietly "eliminate" the founders of Image Comics and spare us all this trouble.

I flipped through Zot! and a collection Tangent comics the other day.

Zot! was one of the best comics I've read in a while, and the Tangent verse version of Wonder Woman is just adorable.

Yes, I know her quirk is based off a bad pun, but it's too cute.

Mouse Guard is so awesome.
