Smallville (spoilers)

I'm just wondering...there were two pictures that they never showed. In "Lockdown", there was the picture Lionel burned, and then in this episode, there was the picture that Lionel showed Jonathan that made him angry and get the heart attack. What was on those pictures that would enrage him so much and refer to his family? It's obviously something with Clark, but what is it?
Same picture I thought. I'm just glad we have evil Lionel back.

Tonight's Episode:

That "Angel of Vengeance" chick can NOT act. My biggest problem is that she was obviously trying to stifle her accent the whole episode. Why bother hiring someone with an accent just to have her poorly cover it up?

Why is every line of dialogue a cliche? Allison Mack is an excellent actress when the script writers aren't cramming 8 literary references and a pun into her every sentence(i.e. 80% of the time). Although, we did get somemore Chloevage.8)

There's no shelter to donate clothes to in Smallville? Martha drives THREE HOURS to do nothing but drop off one box of clothes, gets mugged, files a police report, goes THREE HOURS back home, and then Clark goes to Metropolis and hangs out with Chloe and then goes all around the city trying to find the Angel of Vengeance. It's really getting out of hand.

They used a few bars of Danny Elfman's Batman theme. It bugged me because in the very first scene when she jumped down I forgot about the preview and for a split second I thought it actually was Batman. The excited faded immeadiately and I was back into the "Oh, gimme a break!" mode the show seems to inflict these days.

Clark reveals his secret to another complete stranger, but he still can't tell Lana? And then making that decision seem brilliant compared to telling her his fatal weakness 10 seconds later?

I also didn't like Lana's talk with Clark at the end. I really think that should've been Lex. I mean, Lana was what...THREE when her parents died? She grew up without parents. She doesn't exactly know what it's like to suddenly lose one after a very close relationship that spanned 15 years and through all his stages of maturity.

The last scene was fantastic, and I really liked Clark's line a few scenes earlier about wishing he could be a hero without hiding who he really was.

No Lois also gets it some extra credit, bringing it to 2.5 out of 5 from me.

I dunno. I enjoyed it but there was too much they were forceing. I mean people love the jabs at Clark's future but this was just too much. It was entertaining that's all. What's Lionel's deal though. I mean he's good, he's bad. I love this Lionel but I wonder if there's more too it.

2.5/5 = 50% It coulda went either way for me.

Also, next week's previews... not too good.

It still looks like the show is gonna be weak for a while though.

w00t!!! I was soooo right.

This was such a poor episode. Not Lana-Vampire poor........but not exactly good. Could be worse though......it could've been "Birds of Prey".

It did seem forced...all of it. Well except the first and final scene. That was some of Welling's best acting. The opening scene with him fustrated as hell and sharp towards Martha was very well played. I thought his portrayal of "a young man who has to live with the burden of knowing that his choice to save his girlfriend killed his father" was spot on. You could see the guilt in his eyes. Not angry that his father is dead....but angry because it was his fault and there was nothing he could do to stop it. But then again I might've been reading too much into it.

Spoilers for next week's episode:
Chloe is kidnapped by a random person who they've known for years but we've never seen. He recently turned evil. Everyone looks for Chloe for a while but can't find any leads. The stakes are raised when Lois is also knocked out with choloroform and kidnapped, despite being a martial arts expert in every other episode. Said kidnapper is about to murder one of the the two girls when Clark speeds to the scene and, after his x-ray vision to see on skeleton about to stab another skeleton, runs in and throws the guy through a wall, never to be spoken of again despite still being alive and knowing Clark's secret.

i don't watch this show, but jon kent dying is totally gay.

Then the entire Superman mythos is gay, as Jonathan has died in nearly every incarnation of the character since 1938, including the original.

Not in Lois and Clark the Adventures of Superman.

Chloe centered episode... blah.

Should've been the Halloween ep. Some of the scenes with the ghost were scary. Problem is the creators think it's ok to have these episodes that do not advance the mytho of the show. It's not. I want to see step after step of Clark becoming Superman. I'm getting sick of the mediocracy.

No more Pa Kent means more Lionel. And that's cool in my book. I'm just really pissed at Lex's character. Rosenbaum did top notch as always but the entire time he was dealing with Chloe all I thought to myself was sneaky SOB is gonna get his men to get inside of Chloes head. And besides the uncertain feeling I had that the character was going that way, there was no trace of it. Lana and Clark... is really old. This show needs to end this season.

Mothers...
Ma Kent is Senator Kent? Pretty cool. I wonder if this means she won't get as much showtime. What more can they really do with her though?
Chloe going to visit her mother... the loose end that everyone was waiting for... and.... stupid... wow Chloes character sucks....

2.5/5

Next week...

The Famous Jett Jackson is
CYBORG

Sweet Sassy Molassy that's true. But when you think about it....which would you'd rather have: A decent Chloe centered episode or Lana's vampire episode??? You gotta take the lesser of 2 evils.

The mediocrity has got to stop. When I see these weak episodes it makes me think of how great season 1 was.

More Lionel = Pure Awesomeness!!!! John Glover's work is so top-notch.

Yeah...I was waiting for the sinister Lex plan....and nothing. It's like going to a Dave Chappelle stand-up show and waiting for him to say "Charlie Murphy!!!"....it's still ok if he doesn't. But you just feel like there was something missing.

Sooooo old. What I really want to see is if the writers try to push the Lex and Lana love interest they imagined back in "Lexmas". It might be one of the more trite/forced bits of the show....but at least it might make for some interesting stand-off interactions with Clark and Lex.

I think they could stretch it out another 3 seasons and end the show with Clark getting his degree in writing/journalism and then having the whole "I'm a man now" send-off episode with Clark leaving Smallville for Metropolis.

And not necessarily have Welling wear the costume. But have his mom give it to him as he gets ready to leave.

Nothing. Maybe have her start to become corrupt thru her subconsious interest in Lionel? There'd be a scandal in her office and she'd resign and head back home to the farm to live the simple life again.

Sucks so bad that they sent her character to UPN. Her name is Veronica Mars.

I have a feeling Lionel has the hots for Martha. The way he talks to and all. So I was thinking...how twisted would it be if Martha and Lionel get in a relationship? Or say Lionel does it to get closer to Martha so he can spy on Clark, whom he knows is an alien, apparently.

Anyways, next week's episode...yeah, I knew Cyborg was gonna' be stupid. You can't even tell it's Cyborg. They could have at least used a facial prosthetic to make half of his head robotic. And then the blue and purple jumpsuit instead of white? Blech. If I didn't know, I wouldn't even be able to tell that that's Cyborg.

"Tell me Lionel. Why are you really asking me out?"
"Alright, Alright. I have no interest in you! I just wanted to get closer to Clark!"
"...Oh...I didn't know that...I'm sorry to tell you this, Lionel but Clark doesn't really swing that way...And you know, he's with Lana right no-"
"NO WOMAN! I wanted to spy on him!"
"Oh, thats disgusting. Is that what you get off on?!"
"No, I just wanted to expose him and show the world his incredible attributes!"
"Alright, I think this conversation is over. Don't you have a NAMBLA meeting to get to?"

Despite having a ton of flaws, I quite enjoyed this episode. More so than a lot of episodes in recent memory.

It was great to see them finally focus on Chloe for a change(as opposed to Lana or Lois). Allison's acting was top-notch, the way she changed her tone of voice when she was posessed was great.

What I hated was Lex & Lana not only trying to move Chloe to Belle Reve, but actually having the right to. Is Lana Chloe's next-of-kin or something? And wouldn't it make more sense if it was Lois? None of this was ever made clear.

And where was Chloe's father during all this?

The end scene was very nice, and I loved that they actually got around to addressing the whole thing with Chloe's mom. I had no idea it was coming, so it was a cool surprise. I miss having stuff like that.

Anyway, I give it a 4 out of 5.

The ending was worth the whole thing. When Lionel called him "Kal-El", I was wondering: either this means Lionel knows all about him, or this whole time he has been Jor-El, who he first became earlier this season when Clark died, remember. Either way, I find it rather ironic that Lionel has been searching for the truth all of this time, and now he is going to do nothing now that he has it, now he's going to simply keep it.

Cyborg

That's ****in' Smallville!!

Smallville hits top form finally.

The whole Cyborg storyline was pretty good. It might've even surpassed "The Flash".

Victor Stone's family was in an accident a few months back and he too the public he was dead. He escapes from some division of Lex Corp. Lana crashes into him and he goes away untouched. Clark investigates and the two become fast alliances. Lex denies anything to do with it but later we see that he's behind the whole thing. Cyborg is kidnapped and is about to go through the full transformation, when Clark stops them and Cyborg gets his freedom.

Martha/Lionel. Martha gets a disturbing DVD of footage with Clark saving Lana a few episodes back in the hanger. Lionel comes to the rescue but at the very end we see him pay the guys that were seemingly threatening her. The last scene shows Lionel looking at his copy of the DVD and shows Clark with Lana in his arms superspeed out of the fire at the hanger. "Your secret is safe with me Kal-El."

5/5

I was gonna give it a 4 but that final scene was amazing!! I needed this so bad after such a dry run of stale episodes

I like the reference to the comic Cyborg, when Clark x-rays him. His skull has the same style and everything as the comic Cyborg's head does.

I like the episodes where the plot actually furthers itself, even if its just Lex finally being evil and Lionel Saying Kal-El. I also found it humerous when Lana says to Clark "it feels like we're just going around in circles" Hopefully the writers finally realises that they need to do SOMETHING
