Smallville (spoilers)

Episode #100 airs tonight!!!! And its anyone's guess as to who's biting it. My money's on Chloe......but I don't think they'll do that. I hope it's Lana.....but it'll probably be some cop out character like his dog.

Okay, first of all, this was a really well done episode in terms of acting(especially from Mack and Rosenbaum, more on that later).

Now, onto the story.

They killed off Jonathan so Lana wouldn't have to die.

Re-read that a few times, while thinking back to episodes like "Thirst" and "Spell".

You know that primal scream Reeve does after he lowers Lois' dead body to the ground in Superman: The Movie? You can probably see where I'm going with this.

There's not really much else to say about that.

Also, WTF was with Clark flying Lana up onto the ice cliff in the first scene?! He did NOT jump. Period. He didn't bend his legs or anything!

It was just like "Oh by the way, he can fly now. He's been doing it for a while, we just forgot to tell you. Our bad."

?!

The biggest saving grace was Rosenbaum's first scene. He deserves an Emmy for it. His half-drunk, devastated, dead-serious performance was the best one he's given in the series, narrowly beating out his final confrontation with Lionel at the end of "Memoria" in Season 3.

Allison Mack was also really great, because she was playing it cool and happy but you could tell she was pretty hurt that she's not the only one who knows Clark's secret anymore.

Welling and Kreuk were both at the top of their game too.

The funeral at the end was superb, and would've been even more so if I wasn't blinded by rage at the Pa-for-Lana cop-out.

Seeing Lois 'dead' on the floor was easily my most satisfyed moment this season. Oh, well.

I have to give this a 4.5 out of 5, because it was a quality episode, but seriously, Jonathan swapped for Lana?

What the HELL!

I was really into it until the back in time thing. That pissed me off. But oh well what can you do. I wanted to see what was on the picture Lionel showed to Jonathan.

I was impressed. At first I thought the going back in time thing sucked but it all was done pretty decently. Rosenbaum's acting was awesome and I thought it was one of T.Well's better episodes too. HAHA! Loved how they teased the Lana thing and then hit us with Johnathan. Clark flying (I agree that was no superjump) was very cool and confusing... They'll have to explain that later.

The picture is gonna be a major plot point. I'm glad they didn't delve into it. I want to see more intriguing episodes regarding it in the future.

One of the better episodes this season.

4.5/5 is pretty fair.

I played the Death of Jonathan Kent piece from Superman: The Movie, when Clark and Martha are at the Smallville Cemetary after Jonathan's heart attack, as Jonathan died. I had to hold back from crying.

I'm hoping that this will change things. I want it to be a wake-up call to Clark, and tell him that he's not a boy anymore and that it's time to grow up and become Superman.

Yeah thats not gonna happen

One of the better episodes of the series.....but then again the recent episodes have just been bollocks so this could've been a decent episode but when you compare it to the others it's gold.

Still...I'm certain one of the best. Now my 2 pesos:

Clark "flying" - I still think it was a super jump...just not acted out properly. If Clark could fly...he would've known about it and the series would've broacasted it with a special title like they did with "Lexmas" or "Splinter".

Lana dying - What I've been waiting for since season 3!!!!

The Back to the Future deal - an ok idea....but then it started to delve into this corny thing where everyone close to Clark has a fatal accident and it's up to him to save them. The whole Lois dying thing was just a throw away. We all knew she wasn't gonna bite it. But switching Jon for Lana...weak sauce. But I saw it coming as soon as Jon said "It's just hard to see a father look at his son and know he doesn't need him anymore." Once he said that--I picked up that Pop was getting buried.

Mystery Photo - We all know it's just a picture of Clark doing something amazing. No big surprise.

Lex - best character on the show. Period.

The episode does get bonus points for teasing at the whole "turn the Earth's axis back" joke.

It still looks like the show is gonna be weak for a while though.

i was hoping the death would just be lana then she come back and no one dies

That wasn't there plan. They were planning to kill of John's character for a while. They were just tring to figure out how to spin it. But the only way we se John again. Is if they do a flash back scene. they weren't planning on killing Lana at all. They just put that in there to mess clark up even more.

Of course they killed his dad. You should have known they were going to do it when they first announced the big death.

Thank you.

Not only that but you should've known it when Johnathan made the deal with Jor-El in the previous season. Did everyone forget that?

Just watched it, and it was a really sad ending. Millar and Gough knew how to touch a nerve. You know a death works when many people complain about it on the web.

It wasn't exactly the most surprising death though, it's standard formula among any show or comic that when a major character dies they usually tend to focus or build up on that character before he/she bites it. The marriage proposal/Senate race was the big clue for that, kinda like how in USM when Spidey told Gwen Stacy everything and she was cool with it, not to mention her big conversation with MJ before she dies.

I just rewatched it. Man, I can't help but feel sorry for Clark. Think about it: he had everything. Lana knew, he had the woman he loved, his father got what he wanted. All of the weights that he carried were gone. And then because he chose to change one thing, we get the butterfly effect. Lana doesn't know, the woman he love leaves him, and his father dies. God, I really feel sorry for him.

I'm just wondering...there were two pictures that they never showed. In "Lockdown", there was the picture Lionel burned, and then in this episode, there was the picture that Lionel showed Jonathan that made him angry and get the heart attack. What was on those pictures that would enrage him so much and refer to his family? It's obviously something with Clark, but what is it?
