So here's my thoughts on some of the new anime starting to air right now that I've watched:
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood- Awesome first episode, the Ice Alchemist was really inventive with his abilities. If you like the original, then you'll most probably like this version. This will probably be the best anime this season. 4.5/5
Basquash!- It's mechs playing basketball, and and the main character hates them because they crippled his sister. While it's too early to judge the story, I've gotta say that the art is ****ing gorgeous. Seriously this is the best looking anime I've seen this year, everyone should at least check it out. 4/5
Shangri-La- Another pretty anime, Tokyo is covered in jungle/forest because the world uses Carbon Credits, and you get penalized for emitting too much (or something like that). The main heroine is just finishing her sentence at girl prison, then she goes back to her home and we find out she is the heir to the Metal Age (an anti-government) organization. She hangs out with some transvestites then fights the military with her big boomerang. I'm digging it so far. 4/5
Valkyria Chronicles- Apparently it's based on an RPG, but it presents itself well enough, and I personally love 1920's style settings. The characters are likable and the story has potential, so I say give it a shot. I just hope the war aspect doesn't get sidelined later. 3.5/5
Segoku Basara- Is ridiculously stupid, though they might have been going for that, I'm not sure. 1/5
Saki- It was about Mahjong so I had no idea what was going on. 2/5
Asura Cryin'- This is pretty bad too, it tries to be cool but fails. There's ghosts, mysterious chicks, quasi religious organizations, and mechs in briefcases, but it never really comes together. 1.5/5
Queen's Blade- I almost stopped watching this when the Demon Bunny girl showed up and her hair that fell over her boobs looked like hands grabbing them. I did stop watching when said hair hands grabbed the side of her boobs and started shooting acid milk from them. 0/5
