Ourchair's Awesome Anime Thread

Gundam Wing was probably my favorite mech show. I've seen the Macross Plus movie. It wasn't too bad. I enjoyed the part where this guy technically kills himself by going too fast in his jet to destroy another computer controlled jet.

Eh, I was trying to embed a video from megavideo to show you guys a cool anime called Darker Than Black. Anyway it's pretty cool, and I've only seen the first episode, and I think you should check it out. But don't take my word for it.

So I just got done watching Sword of the Samurai: Mukoh Hadan. It's pretty badass. If you're a fan of either Samurai Champloo or Samurai X, it kinda has a mixture of both. It's a story of it's own though and it's very good. I highly recommend it.

I've gaid a liking for Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha.

It's a magical girl series, only no one told them most magical girls use magic wands powered by love, and instead they use giant energy guns that destroy entire city blocks.

Oh, and the main character is a lesbian mom.

I've been watching Martian Successor Nadesico, and it is quickly becoming one of my favorite animes. It's a half serious, half send up of shows like Macross, and Neon Genesis Evangelion, and it's pretty funny for a decade old series. Has anyone else seen it?

I just started watching on your reccomendation. Very nice so far.

While I personally disagree with your assessment, (Wall-E/Eve FTW!) I'll admit they're really high up there.

Ho, snap.... I feel stupid.... I forgot about Wall-E and Eve, I revise. Nanoha and Fate are ONE of the cutest couples ever.

Has anyone checked out any of the new stuff for this season yet? So far I like:
Ga Rei Zero- A prequel to a somewhat formulaic manga that gets better as it goes on, the first episode is okay (though I did like the chick using a motorcycle as a weapon) until the last 5 minutes when it gets ****in' awesome.

Shikibane Hime Aka- A zombie girl packing uzis kills other zombies/demons, a high school student sees her do this because he followed a telepathic cat. Nice stylized animation.

Toradora!- Odd couple type high school romantic comedy with 90% of it being good comedy. Manages to steer clear of tired out jokes, or least does them well enough that you don't notice. Suck it Love Hina, suck it hard.

Tu Aru Majutsu no Index- Guy lives in world where some people have psychic powers, meets nun on the run who let's him in on the secret world of magic (she herself is a walking library with knowledge on every spell ever, hence why she's being hunted), guy shows nun his own power of nullification that's neither psychic nor magic. Action ensues. I like how the guy's null powers are handy in a fight but are useless for everyday life (since it automatically erases his good luck too).

I watched this a little while ago, and I agree, it was pretty badass. I liked how all of the Contractors had to obey a compulsion whenever they used their powers. Though the setting was a little confusing at first (what with the fake sky and all that).

I could've sworn there was a chainsaw smiley...

Interesting, though I don't think lolicon is as big here as they make it out to be. Also, get off of the ****ing tentacle hentai manga, that was like one instance.

Macias agrees and has little doubt that otaku will influence attitudes about sexual expression here. "When you see a kid sitting in Borders reading a manga, he's not just reading a comic book," Macias said. "There is something really powerful going on there."

:arrgh:

I forgot the characters names by this point but didn't you think the main characters' contract may have been excessive eating? Though later it's stated he doesn't have one I just couldn't get over the way they emphasize that tidbit throughout the series. The guy eats like Goku.

His name was Hei (though he went by Li most of the time), yeah I thought his payment was eating too but towards the end it was revealed that
him having payment free powers was actually due to his sister finishing payment on her powers
. My favorite character was November 11 (the guy with ice powers), what a badass.

I thought this was a cool way of showing just how big Gurren Lagan got at the end of the series (it takes a minute to get through the whole thing).

Did anyone see that Powerpuff girls Z?

I ask because the original series is one of the greatest things ever.

Am I the only one who liked Digimon?

I mean, it came out on the losing end of the great Mon War, but in several ways it was superior to the brand. While not much can beat Pokemon for their gameplay value and fun, Digimon had a vastly superior TV series, with complex plot and characters. My personal favorite season was the Tamers Saga. While significantly darker in tone, it had the most memorable characters and plot, stock footage I never got tired of watching, and the single most horrifying TV villain of my childhood.

I'm not alone here, right?

Right?

:(

Sadly I agree. It was a pretty good show with okay characterization and an okay overall story. It was good.
