Nintendo Wii discussion

Re: Nintendo Wii - prerelease news & discussion

I would of pre-ordered the Wii like I would of ps3 except I've decided to wait a few months for following reasons

- more games i like/want

- no launch date bugs (not every console has them but enough have to make me wait. look at the 360 on launch)

- more downloadable games ready online

(for ps3) - more blue ray films

- cheaper. yes they are very cheap now but even if I can buy them I like a bargin.

Wouldnt the Wii be cheaper than the PS3?

And you think the PS3 won't have launch bugs? Look at the PS2 launch?

Didn't they already say it has bugs? From the Japanese launch?

yes it will be cheaper and yes ps3 will have bugs

i ment I would of preordered both but waited for the same reasons just to play it safe with bugs.

Prices i dont really care that much about. When i say cheaper i mean better bundles. E.g console + 3 games i like + extra pad = saving me some cash..

Re: Nintendo Wii - prerelease news & discussion

Definitely waiting in line on Saturday for this.

Does the Wii have a hard drive for saves and Virtual Console games? And how big is it?

It does have a hard drive that saves and its 512 MB.

What are the prices for you? I mean, how is the PS3 cheaper?

I think he means the Wii is cheaper.

That's not too bad. Hell, that'll even be able to save a few NES/SNES/Genesis games to it.

No, the one in the box is the red, yellow and white plug. There's an additional cable for 480p, which, from the picture has about 6 plugs.

Component cables only have 5 plugs, red, blue, green for video. And a red and white for audio. There are different brands going to be out. Nintendo brand is about $29.99, Madcatz is $54.99, Pelican is $19.99 and a React brand for $24.99.

Some of those companies are also making S-video cables.

512 MB flash memory...I was going to say, what in the world is the point of having a 512 MB hard drive?!

So that it's not necessary to buy a memory card for game saves. I've always found this unfair with previous consoles.

Three weeks today I'm getting a Wii, Zelda, Banana Blitz, an extra pad and nunchuk, maybe a SCART lead and a whole pack of batteries.

The good thing is, here in the Netherlands, gaming is not really a big thing, and what attention it gets is more focused towards PS3 and Xbox and all that. It's incredibly likely that I'll just be able to stroll in on launch day and pick one up off the shelf. I've done it before with a number of extremely high profile games. On the negative side, we Europeans end up paying much more. Our games are likely going to be a full 60 euros, which is about $75.

Re: Nintendo Wii - prerelease news & discussion

Wow, that's a lot of money. :(

So to be sure, I don't really need to buy a memory card right away, just say play Zelda and save it on the HD and then get a MC later and save it there? I just like to be sure since I know I'll be playing Zelda all night Sunday.

Especially when memory cards for the XBox 360 are a proprietary format and cost $40. Memory is so cheap - prices like that are ridiculous.
