Gamestop has some info on the prices for the memory cards, bundles, skins, excessories and future games.

  • SD (Scan Disk) 1GB Memory Cards- $60
  • SD 2GB Memory- $100
  • Steerring Wheel (which for some reason is set to be out tomorrow) $20

Mario Galaxy is at the moment scheduled for April 1st. Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Metro Prime 3 arent scheduled until June. :(

See the link for more.

Just to clarify - SD is Secure Digital. Nice that they are sticking with a non-proprietary format for memory cards. SanDisk isn't the only manufacturer of SD cards either, and you get find them much cheaper than GameStop lists them for. They're just squeezing a few bucks out of it because they put a Wii logo on it.

Bonus points for the Wii for sticking with SD cards. That's awesome.

Ahh, ok. I just assumed it was what I saw there since I didnt see what the SD stood for anywhere else.

Well, it's not really Gamestop who's doing it because it's for Wii. Circuit City has them for $55, not too much of a difference.

Amazon has 1 GB SD cards for under $5. :D

Re: Nintendo Wii - prerelease news & discussion

NO WAY!

*Goes to order from Amazon*

I found it int eh search results but couldn't see it on the actual product page. They seem to be in the $10-12 range.

If you're willing to spend $50 on a SD card you can get a HUGE one.

I don't know if the Wii can play MP3s off the card, but if so you could get a huge SD card and load it up with MP3s.

Re: Nintendo Wii - prerelease news & discussion

There is a store near me that sells 2gb SD chips for about $20. I'll go there sometime soon and check to see if there are any left- if there are, I could pick some up and mail them to anyone who wants cheap 2 gb.

Hopefully they still have them.

But doesn't the Wii have enough inbuilt memory to store game saves and the like? I don't mind picking up a cheap SD card, but I wouldn't really be using it for MP3s or photos or any of that.

Also, another question, which I can't seem to find adequately answered anywhere on the net. I'm not terribly knowledgeable about cables and formats and the like, but I do want to get the best possible picture quality for the Wii. Knowing that it comes with composite cables, and seeing that component cables and scart cables are also available at launch, which is better?

My TV does have the red, white and yellow plugs, but I notice the component cable has about 6 different plugs? Is scart better than what comes in the box, or just as good as the separate component cables? If anyone can give me a bit more info, I'd highly appreciate it.

If its coming with 6 different plugs, maybe its something like how the 360, where 3 of its plugs were for High-Def.

No, the one in the box is the red, yellow and white plug. There's an additional cable for 480p, which, from the picture has about 6 plugs.

Re: Nintendo Wii - prerelease news & discussion

I wasn't able to preorder one, but I'll be out on Saturday at Midnight to try and get one. I honestly think that I'll be able to get one. There are only something like 10 people lined up for the PS3 at the Wal-Mart I'm going to and it sounds like they have plenty of Wiis.

My sister just brought home a bunch of promo stuff, Wii stickers, Wii patches, and a ****ing awesome Wii pen.

I'm picking up the system on Saturday but I'm undecided as to whether I'm going to fire it up right away or wait and open it on Christmas. The problem is that I only have 3 or 4 other things that I'm getting and not having a big present under the tree is gonna suck. What do you guys think I should do?

Re: Nintendo Wii - prerelease news & discussion

Wait 'til Christmas? It's over a month away! I wouldn't be able to wait that long!

Also, the Gamestop at my local mall already has them. Don't know since when, but of course, they can't sell them before Sunday (obviously). If they do, the employees get fined like $5,000, the store get fined by both their General something-or-other and by Nintendo.

THREE DAYS!!!
