Avengers New Avengers: Revolution discussion (#26-31; spoilers)

Re: New Avengers 31-Marvel's next big event...

Shocking last page? Nick Fury being the head of HYDRA and recruiting the New Avengers to take down SHIELD.
I'd piss my pants in giddyness if that happened.
Fro the latest New Joe Fridays on the subject who it was that made the decision to turn Clint into Ronin:

Brian Bendis: Hi. well, this one was all me.

All Clint has done ninja-like so far is wield a sword and look good in black, so nothing has happened that falls from the character. Look back to his years with swordsman, his time as giant man, his training as Hawkeye and the retraining he had as an Avenger under Cap and you'll find plenty that leads Clint up to this place. In fact, we'll be illustrating just that in issue #33.

You will get more of Clint and his new identity and whether he keeps it or not in very recent upcoming issues. Unless he dies at the hand of Hydra leader Nick Fury at the end of #31, or Ultron might make him into a Japanese school girl, or really he's the Beyonder, or... wait, maybe Clint could be Master Chief.

I'm writing too many books.

So I would say that that option is a No.

what's the relevance of this cover? I mean it's cool as ****, why is there cap and boobdevil?

Re: New Avengers 31-Marvel's next big event...

Maybe it ends with the repowering of mutants by, The Beyonder or Xorneto.

Shut up....a girl can hope.

I hope not all mutants... i think grant morrison did us a favor in that department. Even then i think 198 is a good amount, maybe keep at at a good 2 to 10,000

well, I was thinking no more than 15,000 globally.

Re: New Avengers 31-Marvel's next big event...

I was thinking... if Disassembled, House of M, New Avengers, Civil War, Illuminati, World War Hulk and even Annihilation had all been tied together into one massive, multi-year arc of change carried throughout the MU, it could have been the greatest thing ever. Rather than being a series of stilted events, they would have been written like (and treated like) a chapter in an ongoing story that would open up a whole new status quo for every character when it ended. Arcs of growth for each character to go through, arcs which followed through on past change and themes, would be planned in advance so they would reach climaxes during the climaxes of the chapters. New titles or characters would be launched to explore the paradigm shifts or at a good time to capitalize on them. For example, a title with strong themes of moral gray areas would be launched around Civil War or a character whose powers might become a danger to others would be launched during World War Hulk (not in the middle of battle, but as a sort of "Could that happen to me?" thing. It's just an example).

I think that's what Joey Q. was trying to do, to pull it all together into one big change. But it seems like the company is fighting itself on this, with all the retcons to return to the status quo (I think it's weak that Hawkeye was brought back already. I think people were complaining about how he died, not that he was dead.) and inconsistencies. If I were EIC, the whole thing about how Tony said "They're in the Negative Zone FOREVER!" in ASM and "It's just until the trial!" in CW would've gotten someone fired.

Also: You can't get away with bull**** like "Oh, sometimes SHIELD is international and sometimes it's American" if you want to do any kind of proper event.

Edit: I forgot the point of all this. ANYWAY, I think while House of M will eternally be regarded as suck personified, that history will look favorably on this mess once it's all wrapped up and the changes are made and it can be judged as a whole. Y'know, unless they never stop and the events continue on until the sun burns to ash.

I liked HoM. But... if any event were to bring them all together, it would be Secret War. Best.crossover.this.decade...so far.

Re: New Avengers 31-Marvel's next big event...

That really should've been continued. Why couldn't Civil War spawn from that? It should be referenced more often.

it really should. it was the birth of maria hill after all. i mean nobody asked why there was a new shield director?

I said the same thing over a year ago

And there was a small army of supervillains fighting in New York, who turned out to have ties to terrorists! How could that not effect people?! HOW?!!!

Re: New Avengers 31-Marvel's next big event...

It should have been the Hulk that went nuts and killed The Avengers, instead of Scarlet Witch. And that's why the Illuminati send him into space. And then the other heroes find out. And then they debate what to do in situations like these. Some think they should kill. Some think they should help. They begin to fight. Situations turn extreme.

SHIELD decide to step in. That's what Civil War should have been. SHIELD vs. the Superheroes. That's what it was originally planned as. But then Marvel thought it would be better if it was hero vs. hero. Too bad it didn't make sense.

And then Hulk returns and beats the **** out of everybody.

Re: New Avengers 31-Marvel's next big event...

It all comes back to Secret War with Hibiki. I love it when she gets all fanatical about the big Marvel conspiracy. Did you know that she can tie any event or fact about Marvel back to Secret War in 6 degrees?

She can. I saw her do it at a party. It was pretty impressive. But only me and 3 other people were like "O SNAP!". Everyone else said "Yeahbuhwhat?". Interesting sidenote---one of the people at the party was Joss Whedon. Next thing you know....Astonishing X-Men is using it.

Awesome.

What bothers me most about this? It's not DD's Ds, Return of Captain America, or teenage Peter Parker.

It's Nick Cage back in the Power Man outfit. Please no.

But I have to say, I am totally intrigued. Bendis totally has me by the balls with this title.

I think it's either an alternate reality Avengers, or a group of Avengers that have all been plucked out of different time periods. You've got Luke Cage back in his 80's costume, Doctor Strange back when he was a surgeon, Wolverine back when he was a samurai, Daredevil as a female (could this be Echo from the future?), Jessica Jones as Jewel, Peter Parker, and an Iron Fist (probably one from the past). And then we've got Captain America, who is either Steve Rogers when he was alive, or Clint wearing the uniform.

But where's Jessica Drew? Off being a traitor?

Nick Cage! AHAHAHAHAHA!

After careful consideration, I have decided that this would not only be acceptable, but totally kick-***.
