Avengers New Avengers: Revolution discussion (#26-31; spoilers)

Re: New Avengers discussion (#26+; spoilers)

I think it's either an alternate reality Avengers, or a group of Avengers that have all been plucked out of different time periods. You've got Luke Cage back in his 80's costume, Doctor Strange back when he was a surgeon, Wolverine back when he was a samurai, Daredevil as a female (could this be Echo from the future?), Jessica Jones as Jewel, Peter Parker, and an Iron Fist (probably one from the past). And then we've got Captain America, who is either Steve Rogers when he was alive, or Clint wearing the uniform.

But where's Jessica Drew? Off being a traitor?

Nick Cage! AHAHAHAHAHA!
That's Luke's 70's costume.

Re: New Avengers discussion (#26+; spoilers)

So if Proj is right - and I think his theory sounds very plausible - what does that say for the big event that is supposed to be happening in #31? Are they going to fix several issues that exist in the Marvel U with an event that spans across the universe's entire history, taking bits and pieces from all over?

Well, #31 will set up the event.

Hmm... This is very interesting.

When does #31 come out exactly? Maybe we can get Bendis to tease about at WWP.

Next week I believe.

Crisis on a finite amount of earths?

Re: New Avengers 31-Marvel's next big event...

I was thinking... if Disassembled, House of M, New Avengers, Civil War, Illuminati, World War Hulk and even Annihilation had all been tied together into one massive, multi-year arc of change carried throughout the MU, it could have been the greatest thing ever. Rather than being a series of stilted events, they would have been written like (and treated like) a chapter in an ongoing story that would open up a whole new status quo for every character when it ended. Arcs of growth for each character to go through, arcs which followed through on past change and themes, would be planned in advance so they would reach climaxes during the climaxes of the chapters. New titles or characters would be launched to explore the paradigm shifts or at a good time to capitalize on them. For example, a title with strong themes of moral gray areas would be launched around Civil War or a character whose powers might become a danger to others would be launched during World War Hulk (not in the middle of battle, but as a sort of "Could that happen to me?" thing. It's just an example).

I think that's what Joey Q. was trying to do, to pull it all together into one big change. But it seems like the company is fighting itself on this, with all the retcons to return to the status quo (I think it's weak that Hawkeye was brought back already. I think people were complaining about how he died, not that he was dead.) and inconsistencies. If I were EIC, the whole thing about how Tony said "They're in the Negative Zone FOREVER!" in ASM and "It's just until the trial!" in CW would've gotten someone fired.

Also: You can't get away with bull**** like "Oh, sometimes SHIELD is international and sometimes it's American" if you want to do any kind of proper event.

Edit: I forgot the point of all this. ANYWAY, I think while House of M will eternally be regarded as suck personified, that history will look favorably on this mess once it's all wrapped up and the changes are made and it can be judged as a whole. Y'know, unless they never stop and the events continue on until the sun burns to ash.

This is all very, extremely true.

The idea of each crossover turning into the next, unrelentingly would've been cool but you have to remember that Marvel is awful at scheduling at the moment (I say that because it's mega-titles, Civil War and The Ultimates were routinely delayed) and what you describe would've been 52 for Marvel - which is good if you liked 52 (I really didn't).

Re: New Avengers 31-Marvel's next big event...

It all comes back to Secret War with Hibiki. I love it when she gets all fanatical about the big Marvel conspiracy. Did you know that she can tie any event or fact about Marvel back to Secret War in 6 degrees?

She can. I saw her do it at a party. It was pretty impressive. But only me and 3 other people were like "O SNAP!". Everyone else said "Yeahbuhwhat?". Interesting sidenote---one of the people at the party was Joss Whedon. Next thing you know....Astonishing X-Men is using it.

...and that's why kitty wasn't involved in civil war...because she couldn't get secret war events even though she was there at the end. everyone knows that her and invisible woman would have ended it together unscathed. unflappable as doom says.

The Beyonder coming back and ****ing up the timeline?

I would like this as long as its not a reboot of the entire universe, no sense in going backwards

Re: New Avengers discussion (#26+; spoilers)

Why is one of Daredevil's boobies pointy and the other round? Willing to bet she's Jessica Drew, by the way. Wait, that does look like Echo's mouth...

URGH SO PERPLEXING.

Not sure how I feel about that...but it's not something that I think of as a horrible idea that shouldn't even be considered, like MJGoblin.

See, this is the only universe reboot scenario I can imagine that I would accept and enjoy.

Re: New Avengers discussion (#26+; spoilers)

I would love to see a DC type reboot of the marvel U. Bring in AOA Sabretooth and Blink, Ultimate Captain America. I would like to see both hulks in it as well... Ultimate cable as opposed to the 90's cable we all know and somewhat despise on the inside. Ultimate Nightcrawler too, oh and Deadpool kills Ultimate Deadpool and saves the universe and merges all the earths into one.

Me too. Do something like Crisis on Infinite Earths and pick the best characters from throughout the universe's history. I would totally be open to that.

The more I think about Proj's idea/theory, the more I like it.

exactly. i don't know if it's any indication but i remember quesada saying something about he doesn't know how the marvel U got referred to as 616. He said he didn't like the numbering thing because it reminded him of crisis on infinte earths and other DC titles and such. i think he said something like urk or yuk.

I'll back you up on that.

Same here. If anyone can come up with a great idea, it's Proj.

:D

I don't want any massive Crisis on Infinite Civil War Crisises or whatever. I'm sick of events. Too bad this leads into one. I think some massive alternate universe **** would be terrible though. Contained in a one shot? It's alright. 400 issues needed to understand what's happening in one panel? No.
