Marvel Cinematic Universe - Timeline

Any chance there could be time zone changes that make it seem like things happening on the same day are on different days?

That's a distinct possibility. It's probably impossible to verify it since often it's not established exactly where they are while on the plane. It does usually specify which locations they travel to (with the exception of classified locations like the super villain prison, etc).

That may be a way to solve the problem of the extra few days.

Do you think, in AoS, the " 18 days " is the space between the last episode of season 1 to the beginning of season 2?
I'm talking about Coulson writing Skrull langage on walls.

I wouldn't think so. The way they talked about Coulson's 'episodes' it seemed like he had enough of them in the past for them to at least understand a little bit of how it works. Or rather how to deal with it. They clearly had a system in place. They put down a sheet and got out a ladder. May knew to have a camera ready, etc. Plus, May said you're due for another one, which implies that they've been happening possibly every 15-20 days or so. She wouldn't really know a timeline if it's only happened once before.

Yeah, exactly.

Plus, if it was only an 18 day span between AoS Season 1's ending and AoS 2x02, that would place AoS Season 2 somewhere in mid to late November, 2013, which would have the "chasing us all Winter" chasing comment by Coulson to Talbot in 2x01 not make any sense.

Then again, it's pretty obvious they're not paying much attention to the timeline at all based on Season 1 vs Season 2 and its relation to the films, so there's that.

But like Spoon said, the 18 days comment indicates it's been 18 days since his last episode of writing the weird alien text, not since the first time he did it at the end of the Season 1 finale.

Some shield bases can be inferred.

Hub - Europe (for example s1e7 infers its near Moscow, s1e15 suggest its across the Atlantic based on the map and direction of the plane)
Fridge - (borders the ocean with no vegetation and mountains in the distance)
Providence - Ontario (on the northern edge of lake superior)
Sandbox - Morocco or at least close to it
Slingshot - I presume the USA/Florida but dont know if there are any actual clues.
Guest House - WWII (and likely Hydra) connections suggest Europe

I think the timezone idea has promise.

I know there are quite a few clues. I noticed a lot of them when I made the day by day list, but I wasnt focused on them and didnt write them down.

its definitely "months" both s2e1 and s2e2 mentioned "Months" plus we have s2e1 "all winter" reference which implies months. in addition to the evidence others have brought up.

Yup. In all honesty I don't think the show writers or producers were paying much attention, if any, on the timeline and how it would all play out in regards to CA-TWS's dates. However if there is a way to make it work, which the time zone differences may allow for, may as well use that to our advantage to try and make it all fit.

Like I said, I'll rewatch Season 1 soon, once I finish getting caught up on the dozen or so various other timelines I'm working on. The only problem is Simmons reference that Skye had been with them for a few months in TAHITI.

I wonder if there was any creative license when months was said. Like if you have been gone from work for a few days, it feels like it will take weeks to recover. Simmons was saying shes been with them for what feels like a few months. It sort of works when you look at how much they have really done is such a short time, it would feel like an exaggerated amount of time.

Did she actually say it "felt like months", though? I can't remember. If she clearly states that Skye's been with them for a few months, that's pretty cut and dry.

AOS s1e14 @ 27:07
Scene begins with Triplet and Simmons staring at Skye motionless body through the glass.
Triplet "Tough when its your team. You guys go back aways?"
Simmons "Not really; a few months. We have nothing in common. We couldn't be more different."

Its pretty clear to me that the intent is few months. There are two other possibilities.

1) Cap 2 date stamp is not a date stamp but actually just a random serial number that happens to look like a date.
2) The format of the date is not YYYY-MM-DD but rather YYYY-DD-MM. aka. December 10th 2013.
This would be an odd format that ive never heard of before but it also does not conflict with any Shield or Cap statements. It would be 3 months since the team formed and also allow for Talbot to chase them "all winter". Problem with that is that the trees in DC would be bare, in the late fall, which they are not. So if anyone thinks about that possibility too long the whole thing feels like your gaming the system since it doesnt pass the straight face test.

That's a good point, and one I've been considering, the main thing holding me back from going with that is, as you said, the fact that the trees aren't bare and the temperatures appear warm. It works for the early fall placement of mid October, but not so much for the mid December placement.

Perhaps it can be chalked up to an abnormally warm fall/winter?
