A good 18.5 million people watched the episode, their highest numbers since January.

I'm sure this has been mentioned here but I'm pretty sure that Sawyer's cage used to hold the Polar Bears.

And they figured out how to get the fish biscuits much quicker than Sawyer did.
 
They could've told Sawyer what was up... The Others are damn rude and they can go straight to hell. :)

Next week, it appears that the three stooges escape from the Others when Sayid, Jin, and Sun come to their rescue. Should be interesting... I thought I saw Sun getting shot!
 
I think they're "good" because they're like the Losties - they've survived, and have managed to establish a successful community. Maybe that's why they kidnap them - to integrate them into their society.

They're the good guys in the way that every great leader of a society thinks that the full view of history will vindicate thier actions. The only problem we have right now is knowing weither or not thier actions are for a just reason or if they're deluding themselves.
 
They're the good guys in the respect that Hitler was a good guy... Locking Jack, Kate, and Sawyer in cages is hardly humane... And, not only that, but making judgements they aren't supposed to, too. They're bad news.
 
I just bought the Lost Season 2 Soundtrack by Michael Giacchino and I am about to give it a listen-to.

I couldn't believe there was a 2nd CD until I saw the cover on Wikipedia last night. How did I miss that?

By the way, the first one was really great. I could listen to it any day.
 
A popular theory to prove that the Others aren't all knowing is that they're getting all of their information from the flight manifest, Ethan/Goodwill's previous knowledge, the people they've captured, the videos, and of course, they could very well have used a truth serum on Jack to learn about his past. The pages in that file Juliet had could very well have been blank.

I'm trying not to believe they were given a truth serum... I like to think they just took blood samples or something.

The best guess I've got is that the Others extract information from the monster, who seems able to recall memories in people that it encounters... Eko's memories, for instance, flashed before our eyes as he stared it down. Could help to explain more and more if the creators decide to go this direction.
 
If I may make a correction, the actual numbers for the episode was 18.8 million viewers. Now, while the season 2 opener debuted to over 20 million viewers, this is still better than the series debut, which garnered 18.6 million viewers. Hopefully with the "no breaks" thing, ratings will go up this year.
 
The smoke monster is a computer program made of nanobots, I think. If that is so, then the smoke monster could be their way to contact the outside world somehow (I dunno, some sort of wireless connection - it's a WI FI HOT SPOT! LOL! You people aren't on an island, yer in Barnes & Noble!!!)

On ABC.com there is a sneak video peek of Wednesday's episode, a scene in which Sawyer & Kate are told they have to work and some Other person with a stun gun.

Pretty good scene.

Although I am getting a bit tired of the numerous Sun/Jin flashback episodes, this was a great ep.

The last scene alone was so powerful. First of all, they agknowledge that George W. Bush is President, which is something most TV shows don't do. Then, the revelation that Christopher Reeve died, which made me sad because it would be pretty of shocking for them.

Is Jack from Boston? That would suck if he missed the WS.

Very touching between James and Kate. Props to him for sticking it to the man. I wanted him to go Scarface on them, but whatcha gonna do.
