Lost *spoilers*

Re: Lost

The episode was a simple, 'this is what happened'

I like how the kids were taken, and everyone who was supposingly 'good' was taken

And Goodwin died.

Shame

Re: Lost

Yes the 'good' people revelation was an interesting one. I'm beginning to think the Others are going to be responsible for explaining the mystical aspect of the Island while the Dharma Initiative will take the science. How interesting...

Re: Lost

I missed last night's episode, but I'll DL it and check it out later. However, I did read that Lost novel by Cathy Hapka, and it sucks. No two ways about it. I've read more complex prose in children's novels. Matter of fact, this novel is very much like a book aimed at young adults, and doesn't do the show justice at all. It takes place over the first several days the survivors are on the island (basically the first episode) and follows Faith Harrington as she wakes up after the crash. Really nothing happens while she's on the island, though the book also features flashbacks to her life before the crash and her involvement in the murder of a former colleague of hers. I really can't recommend this book at all, though being the completist I am I'll end up reading the second one too when it comes out in January.

Re: Lost

Very recently, actually, with Jeph Loeb joining the staff of "Lost" for the back-half of Season 2, we've been having conversations amongst ourselves in terms of what I'm thinking and planning story wise and vice versa, so it's nice to have somebody in the family to bounce ideas off of.

I wasn't thrilled with this episode, but I suppose they did need to get the new characters up to speed quickly.

I'm glad they did, too. I was at a bit of a loss with all of these new characters being introduced at once. I didn't like that approach at all. This episode accomplished a lot in terms of how characters' motivations and emotions. For instance, Mr. Eko reeks of compassion because he recognizes that he's no saint. Ana's insanity is understood because she's holding her emotions back while she's leading the group throughout the island. Also, paranoia seems to take a toll on her, too. Characters such as Libby are also a little more interesting than before and it was certaintly cool to see some of the characters that weren't introduced when the Rafters collided with their group.

Plus, Mr. Eko is my favorite character now. No joke. If they don't do a flashback episode for him I'll be thoroughly pissed.

Re: Lost

Mr. Eko is definitely awesome.

I think my favorite parts of the episode were finding out who Boone was really talking to over the radio in the drug-plane and the whole incident involving Nathan and Goodwin.

Overall, not the best episode, but a necessary one. I'm definitely looking forward to next week :D.

Re: Lost

Yeah, Eko is cool. I wonder how many characters they will inherit from 'Oz'.

And he's English too, a little research has told me. Same with Sayid.

Re: Lost

I thought the editting was extremely poor. Other than that, I thought it was a straightforward Lost episode. The whole "Answers questions, but leaves even more questions to answer"...

Eko's awesome. Him killing two of the "Others" dropped down their scare factor for me. I always thought that the "Others" were a little inhuman judging from their stealth abilities and Ethan taking quite a lot of punishment before he went down.

The episode was cool, especially the plot around Goodwin. The only bad thing was the inevitable letdown near the end with the mini clip-show of their journey after they meet Sawyer, Jin and Michael, but at least this was a reasonable excuse for the clip-show.

Re: Lost

One thing that only just occurred to me. The first night of our original survivors, they heard the machine in the jungle. Is that why so many of them stayed safe, because that machine was protecting them against the others perhaps?

I'm not sure that's what they heard. I thought they heard the struggle between Eko and the Others.
Nah, that struggle was miles away and not all too loud either. It was definitely the 'thing' on the first night.

Crap, now I need to watch it again to check.

I wish I could, I keep trying to DL last week's episode because I missed it, but it ends up being the 7th episode of Season 1 instead. Stupid file-sharers and their mislabeling. I gave up on it after the fourth time of DL an episode I saw already.
