Justice League: To the silver screen!

So you consider Beowulf a cartoon?

Yeah. It's the same process as Polar Express, which is just an updated rotoscoping anyway. They're still cartoons.

And I should not I'm not putting down cartoons at all, I love cartoons and I think they're an entirely legitimate format for something like this. But we had animated JLA already, I want a live action one.

There's still a big difference between an animation cartoon and CGI.

I'll make it simple:

Real people > CGI

Always and always.
Not if the characters are the ****ing Justice League.

I'm excited that we could have a movie where no one has to worry about whether the actors can "pull off" playing hugely iconic characters. Superman, Batman and the rest can look EXACTLY as they do in the comics. Imagine an ultra-realistically animated Alex Ross Superman.
I have little doubt that a CGI JLA film could be awesome. It could have action and special effects that a live-action film could never have, for a far smaller budget.

But it just won't be real, for me. Seeing living, breathing super-characters that look like people in everyday life (albeit a heightened, more romantic version of 'everyday life') in these films is a good 40% of the fun for me.
But you won't even be able to tell the difference. I imagine that you'll probably forget that what you're watching is animation about twenty minutes into it.

I like watching actors playing live-parts. It makes it feel real, because you know that that person looks and sounds like that in real life. It's part of the Hollywood experience. It doesn't matter how realistic you make it look with CGI, it's just not real.

We're not quite onto Holodeck-type CGI yet so I doubt it.

You know I hate all this *****ing back and forth, we haven't seen any concept about the style of the film, everybody is assuming either its going to be childish and cartoonish or Beowulf when its a better assumption that it will be somewhere in the middle. Stop this mindless debate of which would have been better.

Here's the basic points: A live action movie would be cool but has the potential of sucking major ***, and CGI has a better chance but can easily become too childish. How this turns out depend on which direction the studio wants to go, we haven't heard anything about that so can we stop this "It's gonna be good, its gonna suck" thing? At least until something concrete happens?

CBR:

According to Moviehole, Australian actress Victoria Hill auditioned for the role of Wonder Woman in the DC adaptation.

Obsessed With Film claims that director George Miller signed Owen Patterson as production designer, fresh off working on the Wachowski's "Speed Racer."

IESB has some new rumors, such as debunking their own rumor and saying actor Tom Welling will not suit up as the Man of Steel while claiming "Superman Returns" lead Brandon Routh is now a contender (which, clearly, is no great stretch of the imagination).

They claimed as well that actor Ryan Gosling was being considered as the Dark Knight Detective, but Gosling himself told MTV some things that make that implausible. "I never really read comic books actually," Gosling said, "so it's not really a genre I'm familiar with. [But] I don't know if anyone would have me as a comic book hero. It's never really come across my path ... you'd go for the wrong reasons. You'd ... watch me go play Batman and laugh."

Finally, the rumors continue to swirl at Justice League On Film about whether the film is even live action. Their source wrote, "I am '90%' positive that 'JL' will a digitally animated project, using Motion Capture technology [as has been rumored]. Several actors have been tested for roles, like 'Wonder Woman,' and while a physical type for each role is being sought, the emphasis has been on vocal performance, rather than on a perfect physical match. Also, the team that worked with Miller on 'Happy Feet' -- which was all digital animation -- are being sounded out for involvement with 'JL.'

I don't think previous familiarity really matters, as long as you do the research and take it seriously

I hope its CGI, so many cutscenes in video games are great I can't help but wonder why they haven't made more movies like those yet

The JLA movie is going to be all kinds of suck unless Bale and Routh are in it... DISMAL FAILURE.

Seriously, if DC/WB even tries to push this garbage through with different actors playing the A-list heroes, what is the point? I thought that was the point of WB owning DC and therefore, the rights to the Batman and Superman franchises. If you're not going to do it right, then don't do it at all.

I know a lot of people complained about X3 but c'mon, this is going to make X3 look like X2 (lol).
