Justice League: To the silver screen!

They confirmed that Bale isn't playing Batman in JLA? He said he would be interested....oh well, I don't know if I'd like seeing him as Batman outside of BB/TDK universe, but I can't imagine anyone better to play Batman.

He said he's not signed on to do it, and considering its gonna be cgi I dont see a need to have Bale, Routh or any one in it, unless they're going for photo realism like Beowulf

Argh, wasted opportunity! This could have been the greatest comic movie ever.

And it has even more oppurtunities to do so. Think about it, with cgi the creators can do several things. They get high talent actors who might not look like the characters but have damn near the best voice and style possible for those characters. They can invest more time and effort into making the scenery and effects beautiful. Look at 300, that entire movie was green screen, all they had was human actors and it worked perfectly. Apokolips (if it is indeed the focus of this movie) will already need to be cgi. And think about it, this is one of the movies that has an oppurtunity to give animation a huge boost. A two and a half hour long movie about the most famous heroes of all time, with high talented actors like Fishburne and Reynolds all done in almost flawless cgi is a gigantic oppurtunity. It can still be the greatest comic movie of all time.

The thing is, the only way I can imagine the CGI as looking good is like if it's like hyper-realistic ****, like FF: Spirits Within. That's the only way I can imagine a CGI JLA looking good. Because, like, I keep picturing a CGI JLA as some cartoon-y thing, like Shrek. I don't want that. I don't want a kiddie JLA.

Hyper-realistic is how Beowulf looks like- which would be better.

I don't want a kiddie JLA.
I don't see how people can expect that. This isn't the cartoon show. For the movies, they're going for more tougher/grittier like the other comic movies.

If it involves Darkseid used right in any way possible then there is no way it will be a kiddies movie. Expect a PG13 rating for this. Oh and a little off subject, is there a concensus on the board of who should play GL? I mean they've got four good choices (Hal, Kyle, John, Guy) but I think that Hal should be in it. He got screwed in the Timmverse and would work best in the movie.

They definitely need to use Hal. Don't have anyone in mind for the casting though.

I guess this will be good. I'm not usually open-minded about things. I'm clinically depressed, but that's neither here nor there.

I'm expecting them to take the best parts of Batman Begins and Superman Returns. If WB's smart they'll realize this will be one of their most important movies in a while. I expect this to be the grandaddy of all superhero movies. Unless of course the Avengers shapes up to be what I think it'll be.

There is no way this would work in live action. Super realistic CGI (think of the Final Fantasy movies) is probably the only way they could do it. And it has to be in it's own universe. Making the average movie viewer have to see a whole lot of Batman and Superman movies or a random Wonder Woman or Flash movie so they can understand the characters and origins for a JLA movie is ridiculous. Have it set in it's own continuity, as a fresh start.

This logic is fundamentally flawed, if you ask me. First of all, JL/JLU was an animated series aimed at and probably watched by people who knew these characters and knew them well. They didn't need the backstory. A Justice League movie could be a one-shot if Warner Bros. don't handle it correctly. Lines like the one bluebeast has just quoted just aren't good enough for casual filmgoers (or worse yet, critics) going to see a movie with no clue as to who the Flash or the Green Lantern are (heck, I wouldn't be surprised if someone didn't even know who Wonder Woman was anymore). An introduction movie is going to need to be a bit more specific as to who these characters are.
While trying to explain characters' origins in a line or two would be a terrible idea, I hope to god that this isn't an origin film. When you have at least six fairly familiar superheroes, there's not much time or need to spend an hour going over how they all got to the point they're at. I'd even suggest doing a kind of melodramatic voice-over segment at the beginning where each of the characters' origin stories is explained in brief. Think of a cinematic version of Alex Ross's "Secret Origins" book.

Like I've said, I want this to feel like a comic book story. Not a "gritty, realistic update" of the comics, an honest-to-god, colorful-superheroes-saving-the-world-from-evil story. That doesn't mean that deeper plot elements have to be abandoned. I just want to see a superhero movie that's not so self-conscious.
If you ask me, a CGI movie would have just as much chance as being seen as a kid's movie than an animated movie would be. Beowulf seems to be the exception that proves the rule that there aren't really any dead-serious non-kid friendly CGI movies. I'd worry that even if they did make a dark, deadly serious JL CGI movie, it would alienate all the kids that would go and see it and wouldn't generate any interest and would bomb at the box office.
I'm definitely not thinking of a "dark, deadly serious" story. I'm thinking of a fun PG-13 movie that could appeal to a wide audience. Kind of like Transformers (Though this should be bigger and more epic than Transformers.)
CBR:

JUSTICE LEAGUE

The IESB has a fresh rumor about "Matrix" actor Laurence Fishburne getting green as the Martian Manhunter in the movie version, alongside Tom Welling as Superman and Ryan Reynolds as the Flash. Again, this is a rumor.
Welling as Superman makes me vomit. A lot.

Fishburne as Martian Manhunter is spot-on though.

That's exactly what we're talking about, but even more realistic.

Rrrgh.... why do people immeadiately say "Fishburne" whenever MM's name is mentioned? He looks nothing like the character. He's got the voice, and that's it. Djimon Honsou, Carl Lumbly(his voice from the Timmverse), either of them would be much better.

Because if this was a CGI movie, and Fishburne was to voice the character, then it would be perfect.

I'd much rather have a CGI Manhunter, even if its a non-CGI movie... I don't want a guy in prosthetics running around in underpants and a cape.

It's not just here specifically, his name's always the first to pop-up in any mention of a live-action JLA movie for years.

And even if it's all-CGI and they only need actors to voice him, why not stick with Carl Lumbly from JL/JLU? He was perfect. With Fishburne they'd just be going for the name.

I'd much rather have a CGI Manhunter, even if its a non-CGI movie... I don't want a guy in prosthetics running around in underpants and a cape.

A CGI-Manhunter in a live-action movie? I don't understand you're logic here.... he'd still have to look like a real person and wear that stuff.... wouldn't it be easier just to change the costume a bit?

Anyway, I still say Live-Action - Djimon Hounsou, CGI - Carl Lumbly.

They have a wonderful opportunity here, with the CGI. They better not **** it up with blocky people. I want realism. I want to be able to see the ****ing sweat on Superman's forehead. I want to be able to see his ******* nosehairs. If it doesn't meet my expectations, then **** the movie, they're just wasting my god-damn time, and they're wasting ****ing money and the opportunity to make something the likes of which we've never ****ing seen.
