Heroes seasons 1 & 2 series discussion [spoilers]

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

It's also cool to know that Adam is officially not Arthur Petrelli now that Peter's seen him, despite looking a lot like him.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

Hey, this show's gotten better faster than Claire after getting shot in the face!!!

And was it just me, or did Mama Petrelli grope Nathan's wife??

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

So this answered why Adam hasn't killed Hiro when he was a child - he was incarcerated.

I liked the episode - it managed to reveal stuff while at the same time, not going forward at all.

I thought DL stole the show. I expected Niki to kill DL as Gina, but regardless of who ended up killing him, the fact that he survived the gunshot in #23, lived, became a hero, and then went out - awesome episode.

Kensei/Adam is super cool, as was the explanation of why Nathan's not scarred (it also, presumably, pays off Claire's insistence in the possibility in her being able to help medical science heal people - nice bit of foreshadowing, totally set up that scene for us). I have to say, Nathan and Noah are fast becoming treasured members of this cast for me. I'm loving Nathan at the moment.

Elle is still an electro-cutie. I love her.

I felt the Twins were crap BUT the scene where Maya kills the village was intense. That scene was worth it.

Some good stuff - I especially liked how Peter ends up shirtless.

That said... the episode completely confirms my total distaste for the amnesia storyline.

Let's look at the amnesia storyline - Peter wakes up in a box, is released, doesn't know who he is. Goes to Montreal, trips into the future, trips back, and meets Adam, who tells him "let's save the world".

BUT - There's no need for it.

Where are we right now? Peter and Adam are freed from the Company, ready to 'save the world'.

If Peter DIDN'T lose his memories? If he NEVER went to Ireland? Where would we be? Peter and Adam are freed from the Company, ready to 'save the world'.

EXACTLY THE SAME POINT.

There's no need for it EXCEPT for travelling into the future, and that could be done ANY TIME.

So here's how they could've done it - Peter's not in the show. At all. Nathan says he's dead, and we've nothing to contradict it. We see Nathan and Peter explode in the air (WHICH WAS AWESOME!) and when Nathan passes out, that's it. It's like this episode after episode.

THEN, with the Nightmare-Man hounding Bob, Bob tells Nathan the truth: PETER IS ALIVE!!!! (The fans explode.) How else did he survive the fall? Peter saved him. And Peter's been locked up with Adam for FOUR MONTHS, and they just broke out... two days ago and headed somewhere, but they don't know where. Nathan gets his act together and goes to find his brother.

And we're worried because IS PETER A BAD GUY?!?!?! HE'S THE MOST POWERFUL OF THEM ALL?!?!?! OMG!!!!!

And then, in the next episode, "Four Months Later" you play the whole "how Adam got Peter out by pretending he's good chap n' all" scenes.

Totally and utterly same place.

The difference? It's episode 5 and we've not had that bollocks amnesia crap.

I completely agree

Peter wouldn't need to return to the future to save Caitlin then. Which is why I think it was done.

I think it was done because there was a certain amount of things they wanted to wait to have happen in the episode before four months ago, so they had to stretch it out, but including more story lines and expanding others (like the new characters). They wanted it to be the mid climax.

Also I hate Micah's cousin, more than any other character on the show

Maybe. But, I don't think we've seen the last of the Virus future. And, if they stop it, what's going to happen to Caitlin? My guess is she gets erased and it's going to really mess with Peter's stability.

Hmmmmm. I wonder. Could they be setting up Peter as a villain? It's a long shot, but giving a villain that much power and then having the other Heroes try to stop him could be interesting. Sure, we had Sylar, but Sylar didn't have the same kind of power Peter had. Plus, Peter is the one who fought Sylar. It would take everyone to take Peter down. I kind of hope that's where they take Peter's character eventually.

I'm going to assume you mean the young boy, not Monica. Because I think Monica is going to be quite compelling once she comes into her own.

If so, I agree with you. He's really annoying.

I really don't want Peter to be completely emo

*shudders at the memory of Spider-man 3*

Yeah that one.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

They're pretty obviously setting up for Monica to be St. Joan. It was in a 9th Wonder comic by Isaac; there was Micah talking about turning the radio into a police scanner; there's that subplot with her not identifying the robber for the police; she's gonna be a superhero.

Which could be good.

In the first season, before we had a million other interesting characters and subplots not getting the attention they deserve.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

Bass, you've done it again!

*hands sacks of money*

"These happy days are yours and mine, these happy days are yours and mine, Hap-py days!!"

Ugh, out of almost all of them, Monica makes the least sense as a superhero, character-wise. You're probably right, though.:|

I think it would be great if Nathan became one, after an awesome character arc a la Mr. Bennet's in season 1.

Not emo. Sadistic. Kind of like the Five Years Gone Peter, but evil. And maybe with Elle as his right-hand girl.

I don't think so. In fact, I think it makes the most sense. She cares about New Orleans, her dream of college and a better job have been crushed, she's a caring person. . .I think it makes a lot of sense for her to become a superhero (Specifically St. Joan). And, if she does, Micah needs to be her sidekick. Or, better yet, her behind the scenes support ala The Oracle in Batman.

But, I definitely agree about Nathan. I think Nathan should become some kind of superhero, too. But, I see him more of a Captain America type. People would know he was Nathan Petrelli. And, eventually, it should lead back to the people wanting him for President, where we become unsure if the Five Years Gone future really disappeared after all. Slightly altered, of course, but similar.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

except that in the five years gone future Nathan Petrelli was dead and Sylar had Candice's power... We don't know for sure that is the case yet.

Well, that's what I'm saying. Nathan did win the Presidency and then Sylar killed him and took his place.

And I'm going to guess Sylar has Candice's power, virus or no virus.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

I don't like how they killed DL. The only difference between his two deaths was that it was Niki's fault the second time. That wasn't all that essential to have happen in terms of the direction of her character, you ask me.

Also, I think Monica is just as annoying as her brother. There'd be no melodrama on the show if it weren't for her... Or West.

I'm fine with Monica, at least her character is written in a more realistic sense. The other cousin HAS TO GO, annoying little ****.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

If this series doesn't end (you know, after many years hopefully) without Hiro becoming the main villain, the whole thing will have been a waste.
