Heroes seasons 1 & 2 series discussion [spoilers]

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

So the "Heroes: Origins'" spinoff has been cancelled in development stage.

Oh please. The only reason they're not doing it is because they realized they've screwed up the show itself, so now they want to put all their efforts into fixing it. (Too late, if you ask me...)

Less Heroes this season:

So, I'm curious.

Why do you even watch the show anymore? Or if you don't. . .then why do you care?

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

I'm with DJF. They've cancelled the Origins shows because the show itself has lost its initial appeal.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

I think a far better way to put it would be that it's lost the constant buzz it had surrounding it. Its appeal hasn't really changed too much.

Besides, we're what? 4 episodes in? Christ, give it a chance, guys. The 3rd season of LOST wasn't so hot to start with either, IMO, but it sure as hell turned around.

Thank you, Planet-Man.

Exactly they're not going to cancel a show that has famous writers and directors willing to work on it just because Heroes hit a sophomore slump, the writers strike is definitely the reason.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

I'm not saying that they're cancelling the show. They would cancel a spin-off, sure, if the flagship isn't doing as well as they thought.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

I liked the episode - a little bit happened" Takezo Kensei becomes a villain and disowns Hiro; Suresh makes a stand against the Company only to be partnered with Niki.

What annoys me is the pseudo-progression of some plot points - Maya, Alejandro and Sylar don't progress. Them being in the USA is a technicality. Yes, they've progressed and gotten closer to NY, but the scenes we saw could easily take place in Mexico. The next story point is "They get to NY". That should've happened this episode. However, the whole plot for this episode was saved by Sylar being his predatorial self.

Bennet and the Haitian get all the paintings, but not only do they not make sense, but they don't give us much of anything. It's a damn shame because how Bennet got the paintings was brilliant. But it had a poor pay-off - too many ambiguous pictures. But it looks like Mohinder is going to shoot Suresh.

Nothing happens with Claire or West, though I thought the prank was very funny and well done. Saved the whole thing for me, which I found dull.

As for Peter - probably the worst storyline going. There are no answers in the whole episode, and we are given yet another mystery. And it seems, not an original one: NY dies... again. Didn't we do this already? Blatantly, it's the plague that Suresh is worried about and this will be "volume 3", taking place as the second half of this season.

I'm also confused as to why they had that silly time travel scene with Peter. Didn't Bennet just get paintings of the future? Why didn't they use those paintings to do this? If Peter has to be the one who finds out about the dire future, why not have the building he goes to be in the Ukraine instead of Canada? Then he and Bennet could meet up again - and Bennet could tell him who he is.

I'm a bit annoyed because these 6 epsiodes, I reckon, could've been 4. I think #6 was better than #5, but after #4 we've all started getting a little bored with them resolving a plot line a little bit, and then creating a new mystery. It would be nice for something to finish.

I still think season 2 is, so far, better than season 1 parallel episodes. I just think it's terrible we get huge chunks devoted to Claire or Monica when the real story is with Bennet, Parkman/Nathan, and Hiro.

I think they've got too many plot lines and trying to give them equal measure when some are filled with story (those three above) and others are far too thin on story (the twins, Monica, and Peter).

It's weird. What's good is really good, and what's bad is just so bland it's hard to believe it's the same show.

At least each week something seems to happen. And as I say - Bennet, Mohinder, and Hiro had pretty big bombshells this week. Not bad.

Also - I think Adam Munroe might turn out to be Kensei. I just have this feeling that Kensei is still alive in the 21st century. Also, it makes sense: if Munroe is Kensei and Munroe founded the Company - he'd know there are others like him and he wouldn't try to kill/hurt Hiro because without Hiro he'd never know he had powers and never become who he is. It actually makes some sense.

Now for my painting thoughts - Isaac said, "Put 'em together like a comic book" so I'm going to try.

1/8: Kaito Nakamura dies.
2/8: Claire pretends to be dead to humiliate Cordelia.
3/8: Someone's holding the mutated super AIDS disease thing.
4/8: Niki is trying to get out of somewhere.
5/8: Peter in the dystopian future where the plague runs amuck.
6/8: Hiro fights Kensei.
7/8: Mohinder shoots something/one.
8/8: Noah dies, shot in the eye, as Claire embraces a mystery man.

Okay the only things I get from this: the Company create a supervirus to stop specials, but it mutates and becomes an epidemic. I think it mutates with Maya's power and that's what goes horribly, horribly wrong. Mohinder gives Maya the druge to get rid of her powers, but it instead mutates into the doomsday virus of doom. Mohinder somehow becomes separated from Niki - probably because she breaks his nose when he rebels - and shoots someone, possibly Noah, but I'm not sure why. Possibly out of fear of the Company's retribution, perhaps to save Claire, perhaps because Mohinder trusts the Company more than Noah, or maybe he shoots Ned Ryerson or Niki. No idea really, except that it seems to me that Claire's faking of her death will bring the Company back into her life forcing a conflict.

I'm not sure how everything ties together, but I'm curious to see how Kaito's death, Kensei, the plague, Claire, and Bennet all tie in together.

I was thinking - wouldn't it have been cool if the first eight episodes dealt with the 8 paintings? In the first episode, we see all 8 episodes, and each episode the next painting in sequence occurs. So, in episode 1, Kaito dies. In episode 2, Claire and West stage her 'death'. In episode 3, Ned reveals the supervirus. In episode 4, Niki's trapped in a box. In episode 5, Peter's in the future. Which means that we'd have just seen Hiro fight Kensei.

The difference? Economy. You don't lose anything except for the twins, Sylar, and possibly (and this is a shame) Parkman. The benefit is we'd be about two episodes down the line. That could've been cool.

This strike is seriously pissing me off.

BOOO WRITERS!

Agreed. I mean. . .the fact that they're making an alternate ending to boot? I hope it just gives closure to the whole Generations thing, but leaves it open to continue whatever their plan was for Volume 3. I don't want them wrapping up anything more than they planned to.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

Bass, I enjoy your Heroes-related posts because once they've been posted, I don't have to post anything else. More or less....

Because what did you mean by "Mohinder shoots Suresh"? The gun was pointed forward in the painting, not at his own head. Unless you mean... DADDY'S BACK!

I think he meant Bennet. I'd assume Mohinder holding a gun is painting 7 and Bennet shot is painting 8.

Yeah, how dare they make a stand for their rights and better appreciation for their work! Don't they know that they just are suppose to sit quite, never raise their voices and following orders like the slaves that they are.

Um... that's a typo.

A pretty cool typo!

Indeed.

Uh-oh: If the strike happens (and it's scheduled to Monday unless something miraculous happens, which I doubt will), December 3rd's episode could be the SEASON FINALE.

Wah-waahh.

Dude - you don't like HEROES. We get it. Stop making baby noises.

In six episodes we've seen all eight paintings. In LOST, in six episodes, we'd be lucky if someone had finally convinced Sawyer to lend them penicillin.

As for the season finale thing - this is very odd. We'll have to see. At least Generations finished before the New Year, which is awesome. I'm glad it's not going to drag out too long.

You should tell him to stop posting, too.

And yet LOST is still the superior show.

Anyways, there's commercials now showing that season 2 is now being show on G4 at 10pm (forgot what day/days) and then there's supposed to be a live cast afterwards.

Though I don't watch the show (I've tried, it sucks) I actually wonder now what will G4 do? Eh, whatever.
