Heroes seasons 1 & 2 series discussion [spoilers]

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

It will. Greg Gruneberg said it would be addressed.

Probably not until Season 3, though. His ex-wife would only be about 4-5 months pregnant at this point, and I doubt the second season will play out over that long a span of time (first season was only a little over a month, and this one seems to be following the same format so far).

As for this week's episode, I liked how Sylar turned up and killed Candace. Its interesting that he wasn't able to absorb her powers. Not only is he going to have to overcome that to re-power himself, but in doing so (gaining his ability to absorb powers) he kind of sets in motion the future we saw in the "Five Years Later" episode from the first season. Sylar with shape-shifting abilities is a scary thing indeed.

He said his family plays a vital role in Season 2.

So? His ex-wife, maybe. There may even be another future episode like Season 1's "Five Years Later", so maybe the kid will show up there. Its possible this season will cover a much larger portion of time than Season 1 did, but right now it doesn't seem that likely.

I'm putting this under a cut, because it's an unaired spoiler.

Nope. Wife and child.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

I will ****ing rage if they kill off Noah. RAGE!

We will band together, my old friend. We will destroyinate them.

As for the rest, I like what's going on with Kensei and Hiro. It's an interesting dynamic. I, too, am getting bored with the Mexican twins. They need to reach New York already.

Totally agree.

Also. . .what the hell is with the Star Trek people showing up? First, George Takei and now Nichelle Nichols? And why do I get the feeling that she is also going to be a previous generation Hero? What's next? Leonard Nimoy as Sylar's father?

 I'm hoping the big bad is Ricardo Montalbahn.

Or William Shatner.

I agree it's weird. Malcolm McDowell, George Takei and Nichelle Nichols... it's really odd.

It'll get even odder if DeForest Kelley or James Doohan show up.

Finally, I'm not sure if I like Peter staying with the Irish criminals. I like the girl and her brother, but. . .I just feel it's a meaningless side story.

You see - I can imagine that the Irish people could result in being completely ingrained into the show proper. I can imagine that.

However, the problem with it, much like the Mexican twins, is that we don't understand what the hell this has to do with anything. We know the Peter story won't start until he recovers his memories and/or leave these Irish people, and we know that the twins won't do anything until they get to NY. So, we're going, "Why doesn't it just start then? What's the point of all this build up?" And I hope it's relevant but I expect it to not be at all.

That said - it's easily solved. Painting #2 is of the twins. Painting #3 is Peter in Ireland. That would at least let us feel there's meaning behind every step.

So, did Sylar's indiscretions playing in people's brains give him the virus?

I think that's a logical assumption. That, or the stabbing. But him having the virus? I think that's a good thought.

Also, since Sylar can "see how things work" he might be able to cure the virus. I dunno.

Part of me felt Sylar should've been able to see immediately through Candice's powers and thus, underestimate her, but I'm fine with the way they played it.

But... Sylar might have Candice's powers.... HE'LL BE PRESIDENT!!!! :scared:

Ah, a brain eating predator would be an improvement.

Does anyone else think maybe Sylar didn't kill Michelle/Candice/Betty at all? Maybe she's supposed to make him think that... could be the company or someone else observing him from a safe distance. Just because she appeared to be on the ground and dead doesn't mean much. Her powers deal with illusion, and she made Niki see Micah "dead" on the floor last season.

Exactly my thoughts - once I calmed down from the IMPENDING APOCALYPSE THAT WILL OCCUR BECAUSE OF PRESIDENT SYLAR!!!!

But yeah - it's a possibility. It's one of the reasons why I liked the idea that Sylar would be able to see through her illusions - we'd then know for sure whether he's eaten her brain or not.

Also - I noticed that I stopped caring about Candice when they changed the actress. Obviously, Missy Peregirm did something to me.

How DO we know that DL is really dead. All we have seen is his grave and that Nikki and Micah THINKS he is dead.

Yeah. He might be alive - which would be funny simply because as soon as someone saw him they'd think he's a ghost. He can walk through walls!

As for DL's death - if he is really dead, it's possible he was meant to be in season 2 but that actor made too many demands or maybe he didn't want to come back or maybe there was a scheduling problem and he had another gig or any number of options that forced the writers to kill him off. Anyone know?

Oh, and about seeing how Candice really look like; doesn't people read the graphic novels from www.nbc.com/heroes? You REALLY should. It ties up some storylines and you get some origins from them.

I don't read them because the ones I read I thought sucked and explained events that rather annoyed me, because I felt those events didn't need explaining. :?

I hate Mohinder and Parkman living together. . . Hate it.

Homophobe.

The place where Peter's storyline went is pretty much the only place it could go, to the point where I have no idea how they're going to do him once he has his memory back(at the end of the season at the latest). He's more powerful than Superman now.

Yeah. It really pisses me off that Peter is that powerful. Precisely because he's the one guy who really hoped he would be special. Hiro didn't want to be special, he found out he was and then wanted to be a hero. Sylar wanted to be powerful. But Peter just wanted something as simple as flying.

And he turns out to be Uber-Man.

I really find it a big cliche, and would've loved it no end if all his power did was amplify and fix other powers - the opposite of Sylar.

Regardless, I'm enjoying the show - bar the twins and Peter storylines. The twins annoy me because it's laboured. By the end of the second episode we know their powers, how they work, and what they want. By the end of the next episode they should've been able to meet Mohinder. There's nothing left to the "fugitive" part of the story, I feel. As for Peter, his "new york" is his memories. I feel #3 should've had Peter with his memories and the twins in NY. The fact they aren't makes it hard for me to care as I feel that I'm just being teased a lot - and instead of resolving those, they decide to throw in two new plots - Sylar and Niki. Kinda annyoing.

As for West - it's gotten a lot more interesting now that he's scared of "the man with the horn rimmed glasses" (which I thought was sweet) and Noah is 'destined' to die, and Claire will be kissing a man when he does.

As far as I can tell, Noah gets shot through the EYE. It seems that's the case and we don't know WHO is holding Claire (I assume it's Claire) - it isn't necessarily West.

I'm thinking it's NATHAN.

Would Claire leave her "dad" Noah, for her real dad, Nathan?

As for Hiro - I think an episode might be "How to Kill an Invincible Man". I think he and Takezo Kensei are going to become mortal enemies.

And when Hiro returns to the 21st century, Kensei will be there, waiting for his return. I'm sure of it. Kensei is still alive in the 2000s.

I'm also wondering if he's the "Big Bad" Molly's so scared of...

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

Mexican /= Guatemalan.

I don't like them either, just sayin'. I get how you would make the mistake, however, seeing as how the first two episodes with them were spent trying to go from Guatemala to Mexico and the last episode was trying to get from Mexico to America. It all kind of blurs together when their final destination is America anyway.

I think its west, just because that scene had a lot of foreshadowing to it, we just learned West hates Noah and then we find out Noah dies and Claire is standing behind him with some figure, than there's that moment between them. It just feels like its gonna be West

Just no love triangles I ****ing hate love triangles :x

I'm thinking its the mexicans because of the eyes

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

Bass, you are the man. One of my life's goals is to meet you and spend a night drinking and conversing with you. Mainly to hear all your thoughts and ideas in a nicely tailored British accent.

Heroes Con 2008, baby. :heybaby:

It would be cool to meet the man whose return I heralded..

I've been locked and loaded since last Monday.

 I'm hoping the big bad is Ricardo Montalbahn.

I can't believe I didn't make the McDowell connection. That's where I first saw him as an actor! Shatner and Nimoy are inevitable now. And Montalbahn as the bad guy would be genius. And Shatner should be his nemesis.

Wait, NO! I've already watched that!

As for Hiro - I think an episode might be "How to Kill an Invincible Man". I think he and Takezo Kensei are going to become mortal enemies.

I thought that, too. When Hiro was about to go back, I said "Watch. Kensei's going to be waiting for him in the future because he never died". Of course, that didn't happen, but I expect it will.

Mexican /= Guatemalan.

They're not Guatemalan. According to the wiki, they're Dominican. Either way, they started in Honduras, according to the graphic novel and Four Months later.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

I'm a little disappointed that the Nightmare man is Parkman's dad, I was hoping he would be the big bad *** demon like villain and to find out he's an old man doesn't fit with me.

Now why doesn't Claire just tell her dad about fly guy? I mean he's done with that life, he knows if they can trust him, why go all around in circles with this?

Does anyone else just want to beat the crap out of that younger cousin of Micah?

And Sylar already out of the jungle? I wonder what he's gonna do now, what's his goal?

Also where the **** is Hiro? The only one I actually want to see.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

So, if you have an unpopular storyline, how do you spice it up? You add Sylar! Or Gabriel Gray again. Interesting that he decided to go back to using his real name. He reminds me of Magneto. He's can't use his powers, so he can't use his special name. Anyway, I'm glad that happened. It combines two storylines and makes it interesting.

Claire/West is just blah. Seriously. Sure, it'll be nice to follow Noah and the Hatian on their little excusion, but I hope that means we won't be seeing Claire and West for awhile now. Which sucks because I like Claire.

So, we get an answer as to why Matt is getting divorced. And it makes sense. And, of course, the most interesting part is the identity of the Nightmare Man. Coincidence doesn't seem to exist in this show. I'm also curious to see how Nathan is going to get involved in all of this.

I like Monica, although, again, it feels like a new character for the sake of having a new character. I'm pretty sure she's meant to be DL's replacement, so hopefully they'll do something with her character. Interesting power, too. I also think this pretty much guarantees Nichelle Nichol's is going to have powers. It's not a coincidence that two of her grandchildren and her great grandchild have powers. Also, I like how Hurricane Katrina was involved in the Dawson's current situation.

Overall, very good episode. Better than the last two I think, if just for the revelations with Parkman. I was very surprised at the lack of Hiro, though, especially considering he's such a fan favorite. Still, looking forward to next week.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

I don't mind West as much now, but the thing is it would've been so much better if they'd started out by having him be a nervous and lonely sort of outcast, rather than a smug, above-any-of-you type of guy. That would make him much more compelling to watch now.

Adding Sylar to the (Mexicans'? Guatamalaens'? Domicans'?) storyline was such an excellent idea. They've harnessed the power of all that essentially wasted time and now have it to use for one of the characters I like watching the most. The season itself just got knocked up a point in my book.

Monica annoyed me at first but that's one of the coolest and easily most useful powers out there. I knew what was going to happen next as soon as the manager told her to lock up, but it was still really well done, and for people who've never read comics or considered that power before it would've been amazing.

A very strong episode, but it feels like they're still just setting things up, which I'm sure is the case. Funny about Papa Petrelli in the photo.

I'm also disappointed Linderman got killed off so early. I want to see more of him, and McDowell.

What did you notice about Papa Petrelli?

Also, I'm disappointed they killed Linderman, too. Hell, I'm disappointed they killed of Kaito so early. I hope there's an episode or two just about the previous generation, so we can see them all together, their powers, and their plans. Hell, they should do a whole flashback scene with them at that gathering from the photo.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

Tonight's episode was good and bad.

I want these characters to interact more so that the plots don't seem so disjointed. There's too many things now that I can't concentrate on anything really particular to geek about. Lost has that quality, at least, of concentration. Ok, they are lost on an island. Cool. What's Heroes? A bunch of different X-Men ***** footing around like Keanu Reeves wondering just what is happening to them instead of uniting and actually finding out.

Sylar's cool. Bennet is cool. West. No. Mexicans. No.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

Just him looking away and being out-of-focus. I was hoping they'd actually show him and it'd be a recognizable actor or something like that. But we still have to wait.

Yeah that pissed me off too, but that just means they're saving him for something crazy, what would be funny if he's looking away cause Hiro just telported to the side.

Also Claire's new boyfriend can fly, her dad can fly, and her father has at least one illegitimate daughter, soooooo why doesn't she consider a relation here?

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

So has it been officially established that all of the "old generation" is supposed to be connected to the new generation? Because that's sure how it seems. If that's the case then it creates some interesting questions. The most interesting one I think, who's related to Linderman?

And I think there's something sinister about West. I bet that he's not really who he says he is.
