Re: Heroes *Spoilers*
There's a reason why he's a nexus, folks.
Not THE, but A. You were stripped of the "THE" when you lost the greatest member title. =D
Thanks.
You know what I love? That Heroes has a mystery and the writers
know the solution beforehand. It actually makes me try to work out what's going to happen next.
But I'm not stupid. I knew from "Homecoming" that the bomb plot was for this season only and the Company would be the major arc for the next year, and so, many pieces aren't revealed yet.
But what's interesting right now is how Sylar will be affected by Isaac's power.
Sylar's ability is to be able to see how things work, how each cog fits into the machine. I'm convinced had he not gone brain-eating insane, his purpose (and I reckon each super has a purpose - whatever is giving them powers gives them specific powers for specific reasons; hereditary may determine who gets powers, but not what powers they get - there's no link between Nathan's flying and Claire's regeneration) would've been to sense other supers, discover what their powers are, and
what they are meant to do with their powers. Remember how Sylar was all about destiny? His power was to foretell other destinies as it were, and he lost it. So now, he's stealing everyone's destiny (i.e. their power) for himself. Also, Isaac's paintings, put together, tell the future Linderman says - so now Sylar has two powers related to divining the future; one literally, the other through the application of powers.
I think Sylar becoming a good guy is completely feasible. Or at least, a major player. The guy is going to devour what's to come.
If Sylar doesn't redeem himself, then he will become a devourer of the future, and when it's revealed why certain people get the specific powers that they do, Sylar will be the most powerful threat against that agenda, and he'll have to be taken down. Unless, that agenda is malevolent of course.
Also, if we recall Peter's dream, remember how resigned Hiro looks as Peter explodes?
I don't think Hiro will stop Peter. I think he'll let it happen to 'save the future'. I think the reason they made sure Peter Petrelli got Claire's regeneration is so the explosion won't kill him, though I'm unsure why.
But there's still a lot of connections we don't get, and unconnected elements that need to connect. For example, how is Parkman, Jessica (Mikah and her husband), and the Devereux lot fitting in? What about Ted? While Ted has an important part to play in the bomb, how is his blood connected to the others? The hearing lady? What does Peter having and Sylar not having the regneration mean in relation to the bomb? How will Ted and Peter even meet? Will Peter
choose to go nuclear? Is it Ted that explodes? (Remember, Peter dreamt he was flying and it turned out it was Nathan's POV he was dreaming in - could Ted be the one who goes boom? Isaac's painting doesn't show a face... Will Nathan replace Peter with Ted as a sacrifice to keep his brother alive?)
What I think will happen is the bomb will enlighten the characters to the Company and the conspiracy. It's doing this already. Because of a desire to stop the bomb, the characters, mainly spurned by Hiro, have begun noticing one another and of course, becoming aware of the Company. I think the Company (along with Suresh's help) will open the characters to the origin of their species, their purpose as supers. And that will open up to the future. I think that's the four-year plan. Bomb > Company > Origin > Future.
It'll be interesting to see how the future seasons will adapt other comics since Season 1 is obviously Watchmen. From the 'mask-killer' to the conspiracy to save the world by destroying Manhattan.
I'm guessing the future 2012 episodes will ring true with The Dark Knight Returns. (Think about it - Nathan is the corrupt government-sponsored Superman...)
God - it's like Babylon 5 all over again!
