Heroes seasons 1 & 2 series discussion [spoilers]

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

does anyone know if there going to publish the online stuff in print media?

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

.07% is scary. First of all, I spoke like Malcolm McDowell for about 30 minutes non-stop. THEN I watched the rest of the episode.

Sylar so needs to get completely owned. He's such a great villain. :D

Hiro vs Hiro! GREATo SCOTT!

I know, this is heavy.

Poor Mr Isaac!

And the breakout and Mikah stuff is cool too.

But I was right in my Watchmen prediction. I called it for I am able to see the future.

*knock on door*

'scuse me.

Hello? Oh hello Mr Mylar. Yes, I can see the future. Would yoAAAAAAHH! MY BRAINS!

:dead:
Yeah, it was a great episode. Usually, I'd be pissed that they're "ripping off" Watchmen, but somehow on Heroes it just feels...appropriate.

Now when the Watchmen movie comes out, people will think it's ripping off Heroes.
Well, next week we see 2012. I'm guessing that Present Hiro accidentally traveled to 2012 when he was trying to go back to our time to see Isaac, but then he encounters Future Hiro, then the two of them look at 2012.
Next week's episode is gonna be badass because it's the classic, post-apocalyptic comic story!

I love that they're actually integrating uniquely "comic book" plot elements into the story.

And it's interesting that the episode takes place in the prophetic year of 2012...
I haven't, but I bet that Mrs. Petrelli, Claude, Mr. Lindermann, and maybe even Hiro's father were all a member of the superhero team that's been alluded to. Then Hiro's dad starts hunting them down, using Claude, Lindermann plans to "save the world", and Mrs. Petrelli gets her husband into politics... I don't know, we'll see... But everything is going to be even MORE connected than we think.
I caught that right away. The first scene she appeared in after Lindermann told his story I said "She's one of them! I know it!".

I believe I read somewhere they're gonna all be collected in a graphic novel after Season 1 finishes.

I love reading everyone's posts about this show. They're even better than the program itself.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

Each "graphic novel" is called like chapter X: whatever (part 1 of n)* so It seems as if it should be a big graphic novel with 30-something chapters.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

Great episode. I'm kind of disappointed that the Company is run by Linderman. Seeing Peter kick some *** was pretty cool, though.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

Just watched the episode. I had to record it because it comes on at the same time as 24. I should have watched this instead. Heroes may be my favorite show on TV right now.

Sylar is so cool.

I know, it's like reading LOST comments during the first season, before it went downhill.

I can't wait for their disappointment, I will drink their tears.

That is so what I thought too.

It really isn't. Whenever someone wants to make a dystopian future, the 'end of the world' always takes place at the closest future apocalypse date someone predicted. It was the year 2000... until we got there. Now, it's 2012. After that it'll be some other apocalyptic prediction we'd never heard of until now. Probably 2050 as the Technological Singularity is predicted to occur before then. (The TS is essentially Skynet - a sentient artificial intelligence that will alter life on Earth.)

I know, it's like reading LOST comments during the first season, before it went downhill.

I too thought this, but Heroes isn't like Lost. Lost's first big episode didn't pay any mysteries off, but created more. Heroes however, has paid off and progressed almost every single mystery they've revealed and the season isn't over yet, and there's still more to come. Sure, we're no closer to the origin of the supers, but major characters have died, we know who killed Chandra Suresh, we know what the company is, who HRG is, what Linderman's connection is, why New York explodes, whether or not the cheerleader gets saved... that to me, is the prime difference between this show and Lost or Battlestar Galactica or X-Files. All the mysterious elements that the show begun with are pretty much solved or progressed into greater mysteries. That's Babylon 5. And it's about damn time.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

Bass, Have you read "The singularity is near" by Ray Kurzweil? He predicts that TS will happen before 2019, I believe.

I don't watch enough TV to be able to compare this to all of the other shows that have been mentioned, but I do think that Heroes is better than Lost. I know that half the members here are going to come at me with pitchforks and torches for this, but I've honestly been having a lot more fun with this show than I ever did with Lost. I would go through what I thought, but Bass has basically already mentioned everything.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

I'm not saying Lost is better, in fact only seeing about six Heroes episodes, and not liking the show, I can honsetly say that Lost is worse.

Lost ****ed up after one season though, and people liked it with the same kind of fervor.

Just sayin', that's all, go back to you schedule mutual masterbation now

No, haven't read it. But I think the first person to coin the phrase said he'd be surprised if it occurred before 2005 or after 2050. Rather nice figures. I don't know any of the science involved, so I take it with a dollop of salt. Scientific theory changes so quickly, most of this stuff is obsolete or proven wrong by the time we've even heard it. In the 60s, futurists believed rocket power would be a lot more prominent than computers, and they got it topsy-turvy. That's why 60s sci-fi like Trek have incredible propulsion systems but Google puts their computers to shame.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

*slaps head*

Duh. The future world we're about to see is obviously a play on "Days of Future Past".

I'm thinking it's possible the second season's 'present' might actually be 2012 and not 2008. Really depends on the last episode - if they stop the bomb or not.

Oof! It's exciting!

You read the lates novel too? For those who haven't, it explains Future Hiro's mission: He tried to stop Sylar from exploding by stabbing him, but failed because Sylar acquired Claire's ability. He goes back, believing that by saving the cheerleader, the world would be saved. He comes back, and sees everything is different.

In fact, I read somewhere that Hiro is now the most wanted terrorist in the US.

THis is what I'm thinking. You cannot change the past too drasitcally. Furture Hiro's future is different from the one we'll see next week. But because of him, he may have changed it for the worst. ( In the previews, it shows a picture of Sylar, with the words America Remembers under it)

Our Hiro sees this, and has to change it so this future doesn't happen.

Basically, in every timeline, it seems that the explosion happens. I'm guessing they won't be able to stop it. The thing they'll be able to stop is the outcome of that explosion; they'll have to work together to make it not turn out horrbily.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

!!!

PERHAPS they'll evacuate NYC in time?!

In Peter's dream there are no people, just abandoned cars!

Yes,it's inconsistent in that Claire is in her cheerleader costume and Parkman is in his police officer's uniform - but there's no civilians. Maybe they can't stop the bomb, but as you say, stop it from hurting anyone else?!?!?!

SO.... INTRIGUED...!!! :D

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

I don't know, but I hope so. I've been saving them all to my comp anyway, but I'd prefer a professional, paper copy. I'm hoping they might include a small graphic novel collecting all the comic stories with the Season 1 DVD. It'd just make sense, and be an extra incentive to buy it, especially for the hardcore fans, as well as those who might enjoy the show but not know about the online comics.

And it's interesting that the episode takes place in the prophetic year of 2012...

Its only prophetic to the Mayans...

;)

Sweet! Even if its a separate purchase from the DVD, I'll be picking it up. It really does add to the story, as opposed to some of the Lost spin-off stories (like the crappy novels or the online Lost Experience game).

Bass, Have you read "The singularity is near" by Ray Kurzweil? He predicts that TS will happen before 2019, I believe.

Then that Technological Singularity better get a move on, its only got 12 more years to fulfill that prediction!

I think most people would actually agree that Heroes is the better show right now, easy. I'm still a major Lost fan and watch every week, but I appreciate Heroes more because of the payoff in the mysteries being solved quicker than 3 and a half seasons into it.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

The comics are a piain in the *** to read so I've only read the first five or so.

But I just caught up with the episodes after watching them all this week, so I need to get my fix somehow until next episode.

Oh my God, then I'll be caught up and won't be able to have more Heroes stuff!

I'm so sad now.

Re: Heroes *Spoilers*

I've seen all the episodes, but never read the comics. Do you really need to read them? Do they have any important story elements that weren't in the TV series?

Not really..but sometimes. It's mostly for people who just want more heroes. It's got little bits like D-L escaping from prison and jessica/nikki stealing money. The car accident where claire tried to kill her rapist...wait was that in the episodes..hurm.

Well recently it's mostly been following that Wireless character around who has the power to go on the internet without a computer...wow...but there's been an interesting backstory with Linderman and
Patrelli (father)
fighting together in Vietnam
