Fables series discussion (spoilers)

No news on the Fables/Jack timeline convergence yet, I believe that's happening in the next Jack of Fables issue.

Basically, Lancelot recaps his story, Ambrose gets cleaned up and puts on Lancelot's old armor, he pulls Excalibur (the real one) from the stone and gets knighted by Lancelot, and those two jump down the WItching Well.

Also, Prince Charming demands ten Fable lands from Gepetto and that Gepetto sign the Fabletown compact to be forgiven for his past crimes. He tells Hansel that if he comes back to Fabletown without an answer he'll be strung up in the streets.

Frau Totenkinder says some spooky things like "it's all going according to schedule" and such.

The only thing that wasnt awesome was that the armor looks kind of stupid on Flycatcher.

Everything else made me giddy.

I'm sure this arc is going to bring some immense changes. There's a certain feel of foreshadowing in the tone of the story, it all seems to be building towards something very big. Perhaps Fly could start a rival kingdom back in the homelands...

Just realized I didn't post after reading Vol. 1...

I read it over the course of a couple of days...and it was OK. Kind of clever.

I wasn't blown away by pure awesomeness though.

And in that regard, I was slightly disappointed. But mostly because of you guys. I don't blame the book, I blame you.

It wasn't horrible...it wasn't even bad. It was just very "meh".

I will pick up subsequent volumes based on Proj's recommendations (and his claim that the 1st vol. is probably the weakest), because I trust his probably more than anyone else in the world. But it's not a high priority.

Okay, who was everyone's favorite artist on the OGN? Mine was Tara McPherson on the Snow and Rose meet Frau story.

The latest issue of "The Good Prince" arc....

And first let me start by saying James Jean's covers...particularly this last one was beautiful.

But what happens in the bookis the real beauty. Turns out it IS in fact Lancelot and his origin on how he came to be the Haunted Knight (Armor). We also get Prince Charming's meeting with Ambassador Hansel and the super sweet power play in their war. And Frog's new armor and weapon and apparent subsequent destiny?

LOVE this book. LOVE it. I understand that the first couple of volumes an be a little slow and hard to get thru.....but by Vol.4---if you're not completely in love with Fables there is something wrong with yor soul. Like "Not Read Watchmen" wrong. It's that serious.

And he will never see this.

So in a truly odd turn of events my father is reading some Fables. I left 1,001 Nights of Snowfall by the toilet for some Bathroom reading and I guess he started in on it. He's just finished the Bigby story and I guess he's really enjoying it since its found its way out of the bathroom and to his spot in the living room. Now unless its written by Harvey Pekar my father doesn't touch comics.

Its a bit odd.

It's impossible not to read Fables. In fact, I don't think I've ever read a negative comment about it.

Fables is the cocaine of comics. You get one of the Ultimate titles and it's like a gateway drug like weed. But soon after the high of Ultimates wear off you're looking for something bigger and better for that sweet comic high.

Then you find Fables.

And at first you're like, "This is pretty good. I don't really see what everyone sees in it...but I know its good." Then you're told to do a little more to really feel the effect. So you do. You read another volume. And you like it.

Next thing you know you need more and more. Before you know it, you're in the middle of the "Arabian Nights" TPB dizzy and feenin' for more Bigby action!

Fables will mess you up man.

Everyone's pretty much right E. The first volume is a self contained story to see if a tale about fairy tale characters in modern day New York would be worth writing about. It isn't awesome. Had I just picked up volume 1 and not 2 and 3 with it, I probably wouldn't be reading Fables right now. But the series just keeps getting more intense and better and better.

Fables is the only one of my comics my girlfriend reads.

I always leave it for last any week it comes out cause it's the best.

Last issue when Prince Charming stormed out of his war meeting and said, "It's time to bring Snow and Bigby in on this.", i cheered silently and pumped my fist in the air. Alone in my bedroom.
