Fables series discussion (spoilers)

The Fables solicitation for August mentions that it's the cubs' fifth birthday and the Fables and Jack timelines merge! That's no good at all. The cubs were born in 2004 and, by my calculations, Jack takes place in 2008. It doesn't work on any level at all!

ZOMGAAAAAHHH!!!!KABOOM!!!

But Sword and Stone and all nonsense.

And what is this about Jack being in any fable ever created.

Jack's timeline jumps around hither and dither as it pleases.

I might have to keep up with Jack of Fables... It looks like they've given the book to Willingham in its entirety, which means we're probably looking at that book becoming somewhat decent... Which means I probably won't be dropping it after all.

The Jack timeline is straight through from the end of his Hollywood arc in Fables. It only jumps to the past for Jack Frost, but it still has a modern day framing sequence.

Im just saying that Jack might have gotten his hands on Excalibur way back when, rather than there being more than one sword, or something silly like that.

Also: Fly with Excalibur sounds fantastic.

I'm pretty much in love with Fables. I've got all the trades so far. This series is actually making me think about picking up the monthlies. Which is something I haven't done with any comic, ever.

Right now Amazon is screwing around on my 1001 Nights of Snowfall order and I'm getting super anxious.

I probably won't ever be in this thread again for fear of spoilers. Unless I start picking up the monthlies.

That is all.

Or by the time Jack's story happens, Fly's already lost the sword....

Okay, you clowns convinced me to start getting this. I got the first volume today.

Excellent. Good work guys, it took 21 pages and months of propping up the book, and we finally got E to waste his money on this worthless trash heap of a comic. Seriously, it makes Mighty Avengers look like Watchmen.

Aw, ****.

You got me.

At least now I have some colorful toilet paper.

I've been waiting for when I've paid everything off at my comic shop to get the trades for this. I'll see what I can find at WWP.

I'm expecting to, but I'm also expecting to love later volumes more based on what you guys are saying.

Depends. Personally, the first one is one of my favorites. But it's not representative of the series as a whole AT ALL. It grows and changes into something completely different very quickly. So I think everybody's point is, don't give up if you don't like the first one.

Yeah, definitely. The first volume is very self contained. There are repercussions from it, but the rest of the series is much different.

Ice, E, excellent choice.

Go E and Ice!

All the cool people read Fables.

Seriously---if you can read this and not fall in love with the book---then your comic soul is broken. If I could buy the UC members Christmas gifts....it's be the Fable Collection.

I bought 7 extra copies in case I lost 6 of them.

I read the first trade yesterday. Great stuff. How many trades are there so far?

8 trades, 9th comes out in June or July, I think. There's also an OGN HC and a Jack of Fables trade.
