Fables series discussion (spoilers)

That's one of the main reasons I love Fables. Jack is every Jack in every story. Frau is every witch in every story. It's great stuff.

I also got Vol.'s 3-5 for my birthday. I'm slowly collecting them all. It's still beautiful when you reread them for the second time 'round.

I collect 'em in trades for rereading, but I'm a little envious at the people who are ahead of me. But I agree about how awesome they are even after rereading. It's easily the best comic series I've read in a long time, with only Ultimates 2 coming close.

Wolves comes out this month and Jack of Fables 1 comes out next. Can't wait!

I read the first two issues of Fables when they came out, but then I kept moving (like, every couple months) and couldn't afford it. I always wanted to get back and with Jack starting, a new storyline in Fables and an awesome hardcover all coming out, it just seemed like time.

So I've been buying all the issues as they come out and going back and buying all the trades, which I have. Ultimately, my plan is to buy the trades and give away the single issues, because I think everyone should be reading this book.

And you can really jump in at any point. I had no problem at all with my 50-issue gap.

The Christmas issue was great. Especially with Jack trying to steal the lists.

It was good to see The Wolf Family again and how happy they are.

Just got the "Wolves" trade today, really good, I want to see more of
Cinderella especially.

My only problem was the paper the book was printed on, it seemed really... cheap:? . Anyone else that got it know what I'm talking about?

Yeah. . .when I went to buy it, I had to sift through three copies before I found one where the pages weren't all ruffled.

Fables doesn't deserve crappy paper! What the hell, DC?!

By the way. . .great stories. I love Bigby and Cindy. And how the young cubs look like Bigby, Snow White, Rose Red, Cindarella, Prince Charming and. . .I'm not actually sure who the fat one looks like. Maybe a fat Flycatcher or King Cole? Makes me wonder if the original characters survive. . .

Anyone read Jack of Fables #6?

It's a flashback tale, detailing how Jack became Jack Frost. Basically, he gets working in the Snow Queen's castle, and becomes her "right hand man", which basically means he gets to share her bed.

She gets sick, and cannot do the procedure her and her sisters do every while, which involves all four sisters switching castles, so the seasons of this world will change. There's a Summer Queen, Spring Queen etc.

Jack tells her he'll do it, she gives him the powers, and he goes to see how gullible her sisters are...

Throughout the story, there are two interludes, by one of those Revise girls and by Mister Revise himself, adding parts to the story that Jack left out. I didn't really like them, and felt like they interrupted the story, while reminding me that this issue is just a "joke".

Why can't Willingham just write both books?

You can tell which parts are his and which aren't...

I liked the issue, except for the throwaway sequences, and the framing device.

This series should be Narrated third-person, like a fable... and it shouldnt follow a narrative with Jack's life, but tell stories about his past and his present like it is from the past.

That said, I'm not dropping it until it gets really bad, because I'm curious and strange.

So I just finished getting thru this huge stack of comics that I've been meaning to read over the holidays (I had like 20-something comics to read). One of the comics was Fables' Christmas issue.

Normally I don't like holiday issues. They feel cheap and don't do anything to further any ongoing storylines and just feel like a waste of money. But every now and then a comic puts out an exceptionally well holiday issue that leaves you with a smile and satisfied feeling.

Fables is one of them.

What a perfect story. What a perfect comic. I swear to Christ Almighty----do NOT call yourself a comic fan if you are not or will not read Fables. I'm as serious as a bullet from the Saint of Killers. This book is the reason people read comics.

I think I will cry if this book ever ends.

Vertigo's JACK OF FABLES #7 (NOV060299), previously slated to feature the conclusion of the 2-part story "Jack Frost," instead will present the start of "Jack of Hearts," a 4-part story set in Las Vegas. "Jack of Hearts" was originally slated to start in JACK OF FABLES #8.

Part two of "Jack of Hearts" now will appear in JACK OF FABLES #8 (DEC060299). This issue is solicited in the December Previews (Volume XVI #12) and is scheduled to arrive in stores on February 28.

Part three of "Jack of Hearts" will appear in JACK OF FABLES #9 (JAN070373). This issue is solicited in the January Previews (Volume XVII #1) and is scheduled to arrive in stores on March 28.

Part four of "Jack of Hearts" will appear in JACK OF FABLES #10, followed by the concluding chapter of "Jack Frost" in JACK OF FABLES #11.

Weird.

Weird.

Huh. I wonder why they did that. . .?

I have gotten Bass addicted to Fables!

I finally got all the trades and made my way though them. This is seriously genius on levels that I can't even fathom. There is no way I can pimp this book anymore.

Seriously.

Snow White and Bigby's relationship is my personal favorite of anything i even laid eyes on.

You all must read Fables.

I liked it when the fables ****in' destroyed that reporter. He messed with them and within a matter of days he was pissing himself, because if he made one wrong move his entire life and reputation would be burning down around his ears. So awesome.

And the battle for Fabletown with the wooden soldiers, on a list of great comic fight scenes, is definitely in the top ten.

Oh, yeah! And the Adversary is the only evil overlord I've ever seen who is sane, has logical motives, and isn't so incompetent it's laughable.

Fables > You
