Thank you. That last line seems interesting sounds like Matt realizes it's a friend manipulating him? If it's an old enemy, I'm hopeing for one of the Mr. Fear's.

Perhaps, but perhaps Lilly revealed that Foggy is still alive and that is why Matt feels betrayed or could be a red herring or it could be just a good line to end things on or perhaps Lilly was fed bad information to screw Matt's head. Besides which of Matt's friends would secretly hate him so much that they would want to inflict this kind of emotional damage on him? Only someone with psychoitc levels of hatred would do this is to Matt, Ben Urich or Black Widow don't strike me as that kind of person.

Besides, how would any of Matt's friends get ahold of mind altering pheromones? I think in terms of means and motives Killgrave and Cranston are the best suspects. I would lean towards Cranston at the moment, he truely hates with his whole being and hasn't been seen since 1998, so his health could have worsened by now, besides I believe Killgrave is Canada at the moment. But who knows, maybe Brubaker will throw a curve ball.

Purple Man is not involved. We're at a point in comics where they're not going to take a prominent villain and ignore universal continuity by including him. He's in Canada and is now apparantly the target of U.S.Agent. I know he'd make sense but let's give the writers more credit.

That's why I'm leaning towards Cranston, Killgrave has means and motive, but Cranston has means, motives and opportunity. But frankly Marvel has screwed up like this before, like with Owl. After the Lowlife arc Owl was in jail, then in MK Spider-Man Owl had set up a powerful criminal empire outside of Hell's Kitchen, but then in the Murdock Papers it was stated that Owl had in prison since Lowlife arc, so Owl was in two places at once. Not to mention that Owl died 2001 and was brought back with no explaination. That's why I won't rule out Killgrave entirely, Marvel has crappy editors.

Besides can you think of any of Matt's friends who would have the means, motive and opportunity to hurt DD like this?

Good stuff... but definitely one of the weaker issues of the run. Probably because it was all action and didn't have as much substance. Love that cover though...

I don't know about how I feel on whose behind this. I mean I think it would please fanboys if Cranston was involved. Hell, I'd be happy. But I don't like how this transition happened. Kingpin had Murdock in the gutter, I mean he was finished. And while Kingpin was doing this to him someone else thought I haven't seen Daredevil in a while so I'll come back and make his life an even bigger hell. Yeah, it's a great characteristic for a villain but geez...

I wonder if the reveal of whose behind it is the same reason for the "knife in the back" statement though. I hope they're separate. I can't think of anyone who allied themselves with Matt to actually be doing this. Then again, if Matt's wrong and Alton Lennox was killed by an allie of Matt who hired Tombstone and Matador to secretly get Matt's attention (note Tombstone wouldn't kill Daredevil) maybe the man Matt's looking for isn't a villain at all.

Yeah, but Matt's life has been in the toliet since Karen died, it has only gotten progressily worse since then. I hope after DD beats the crap out of this guy, is able to go home and really rebuild his life. But the fact is a villain like Cranston is a revenge obessed psychopath, is it would be in character for him to kick DD when he is down.

Perhaps the villain in charge fed Lilly bad information to trick DD into thinking one of his friends set this up. I can't imagine Ben Urich or Black Widow doing anything like this to Matt.

Definitely got the issue a week early today...

People who don't like a lot of dialogue will probably hate this...

In Washington the F.B.I. Director is packing his things. He's on the phone complaining about he's the "new fall guy" even though everyone adored him a few months ago. He's lost his position with the bureau and is moving. The "movers" come and he asks them where to start and as he turns his back to them, they pull out a wire (to strangle with) and reply "That's your call."

Ben Urich gets a mysterious call and immediately contacts Dakota North about her fed connections..

Switzerland

Daredevil takes no prisoners as he storms this nice little vacation home that's being heavily guarded. He winds up in the study face to face with Vanessa Fisk whose in really bad shape. Basically she's sick... dying and she thinks that the reason she's dying is because of Karma and what she did to Richard. But then again, she figures she's not really the one to blame, Matt Murdock and her husband are for there constant years of playing the greater games with each other. So she took advantage of them being in prison and began elaborating this plan to destroy Matt's pysche. But she wants to make a deal with him. She wants to use her connections to clear Murdock's name so that he can go home and be Daredevil again and get his life back on the condition that when he's finally established himself again, he takes on Fisk's case and gets him out of jail. She says that if he doesn't, she's going to release pictures of DD in Europe that will further prove that there could be two DD's and with Matt missing, possibly be the 2nd out of the U.S. He doesn't care and refuses and istead of further humoring her, leaves her. Vanessa burns the pictures as a henchmen needs clarifying that this is how she wanted it and expect Matt to have to comply with her wishes after he finds out what's going on. He also asks why she didn't tell him Nelson was alive and she says that's his punishment for walking out and not cooperating. He's gonna have to learn the hard way.

Matt's listening to the television and learns that the F.B.I. Director has "killed himself" and in his suicide note reveals that he set Murdock up and is indeed innocent. He calls Dakota and tells her to call Danny because he needs to get home asap...

5/5

I'm not mad it was Vanessa. I'm happy he didn't try to throw more at us with some mastermind out of nowhere. I thought this whole thing was brilliant even though it's **** that they've put the genie back in the bottle. I wonder how Civil War's gonna affect him.

Any word on who gave Vanessa those pheromones?

"An old friend" that is all.

Hmmm, Brubaker mentioned in an interview that this arc would set up villains for the future. Purple Man is supposed to be in Canada, so I doubt its him. Could be Mr. Fear, Alan ***an was able to distill a pheromone from the fear gas that would make him (almost) irresistible to women. Want to bet either Alan or his Uncle Larry Cranston couldn't create pheromones that would affect DD's sense of smell? Alan would do it for the money and Larry would do it on principal.

Yes. You've mentioned all of this before. On numerous occasions. The issue was really good though. We can discuss future speculations later.

Because you tend to repeat yourself on certain points.

So what? Ever heard of marketing, repeating your points gets your message across. Repetition is one of the keys of marketing. Its done all the time. Besides that post from Nov 24 is irrelevant , I making a guess about a mystery that has now been revealed, your addressing post that is now irrelevant and makes your point seem irrelevant.

Yeah.

What's even more interesting is how this felt like a conclusion when the arc isn't even over yet. I wonder if Vanessa has really won.

Brubaker's Daredevil is like an orgasm; it's incredibly good, but ends too soon.

You know I was thinking about this and it seems like its an OJ kinda thing. Everyone knows Matts DD but no one can do anything about it

I just bought the issue today. While I don't like Brubaker and Lark as much as I liked Bendis and Maleev (the idea of actually liking something that Bendis wrote still gives me warm and fuzzy feelings), this is really good. Not much action and a lot of dialog, but hey, welcome to DareDevil.

Vanessa Fisk was not a twist I was expecting. Except in a good way. It would be incredibly stupid if they decided to make Doc Ock a villain with magnetic powers though.
