I think I'm out of good things to say about this book. I'm just repeating myself over and over.

Prison riot - cool.
Matt and Kingpin fighting with each other for their lives - awesome
Matt turning on Kingpin and getting help from the Punisher, who basically went to prison half for the fun of it, half to help out Matt -

I just love how there is no "downtime" in this book. Everything keeps building and building and building and every issue tops the previous one.

I love it.

I forgot to post this but I've been meaning too.

My one gripe with the Bru/Lark run so far is total lack of Melvin Potter. I mean "Everything's all right Melvin, go back to your bed. Matty will be ok."

What the hell was that? The whole Gladiator character is being wasted. It's one of the most interesting character plots to me since Golden Age.

Meh...I don't think he's that essential to the plot - not enough to say he's wasted.

And who cares? How long did it take until Bendis used him? Brubaker just started - give it time.

There's still one more issue. It's not over yet.

Just got #86 today.......

MWoF was right when he said it was balls to the wall action. And to think we only have one more issue left? Wow......I love this series.

So, I've gone back to reread all of Bendis and Maleev's run since I read Smith's arc, and it made me want to read some more Daredevil. Last time I started Bendis' run, I think I got up to the Milla arc, and then it all went kind of boring for me.

I'm around halfway in the King of Hell's Kitchen arc. Bendis' dialogue gets so annoying and repetitive after a while and it's quite a struggle to get through. That said, the storytelling in this is amazing. Maleev's beautiful pulp/noir art compliments the plot well, and this is definitely Bendis' best work.

I couldn't put Hell's Kitchen down. How are you even breaking to write this?

I've been reading it all day, and I was tired.

I just finished all of Bendis/Maleev's Daredevil. It was awesome. Why can't Bendis create stories like that for his other titles? I loved how everything tied together in The Murdock Papers, and how Brubaker has just carried on the great storytelling.

This book's a keeper.

The fake Daredevil thinks about how he's watching over Dakota and Urich especially after what's happened to Foggy. Talking into a recorder he looks back on the day.

flashback to Earlier...

Two hitmen try to kill Dakota but she can handle herself to an extent. The fake Daredevil jumps in to help. The hitmen try to tell the fake DD they're on the same side but "Daredevil" beats them. Dakota then recognizes who the fake DD is...

Present

He says "This might be my last report" and turns the recorder off. Something makes a noise behind him and he turns to face... Daredevil.

Ryker's Island One Hour Earlier...

Punisher is useing Matt Murdock as a human shield. At least that's what anyone looking at surviellence equipment can tell. The warden tells everyone to stand down and let them off the island. Punisher and Murdock escape with respect they go their seperate ways.

Murdock finds a spare costume and starts looking for answers to Foggy's death. First he finds the imposter. Daredevil and fake Daredevil fight. Matt would know who he was fighting but it's clear he's just too pissed off to pay attention. When things are looking bad for fake DD he powers his fist up and Daredevil stops.

Matt: "Danny?"
Iron Fist: "Matt? ... Aren't you supposed to be in Rykers?"

Back at Iron Fist's pad, where he puts on the yellow booties. He fills Matt in on why he's dressed as him. Apparently Iron Fist is unknowingly working for Foggy's murderer. The only thing Alton Lennox told him to do was to dress as Daredevil to make it look like Matt was innocent. Matt tells him they're pulling his (Matt's) strings. The two head out to Lennox's office.

Dakota and Ben walk into Lennox office but discover Daredevil in there. Dokata thinks Daredevil's still Iron Fist and working for Lennox until Iron Fist reveals himself too and they get confused. Ben says he thinks Matt's throwing away what little life he has left. But Matt says it's not about him anymore it's about justice for Foggy. Dakota uses the fax machine to trace the last transaction and it's coming from Monaco.

Jersey

Matt's packing and Ben is talking to him. He says he blames a lot of what happened on himself. Matt tells him it's not his fault. He also says that there wasn't going to be a case because Ryker's was set up so that Murdock would be killed.

Next we see a montage of characters (Milla, Dakota, Jameson seeing a news broadcast of Punisher useing Murdock as a shield and escapeing. The warden explains that Murdock was only an innocent blind man and this riot was a direct cause of the F.B.I.'s recklessness and personal agenda against Matt.

The F.B.I. director is furious and wants the warden on the phone. The secretary can't get him but the Senator who was talking to the Director a few issues back is waiting on the other line for him. Director looks scared.

Matt is about to board a plane and is useing fake contacts to give his eyes color and is traveling under the alias "Murdock. Michael Murdock".

The last page shows a quiet neighborhood. A man useing a walker picks up the morning paper and reads the headline about Matt missing after the Prison Riot. "Aw, Matt. What're you doing?" They show Foggy with a cheese mustache. And a man behind him tells him to come back inside. "We don't want anyone to see you until you're off the walker.. and ready to assume your new life."

5/5

Bru and Lark start off strong with their first arc. Foggy's not dead. Iron Fist is the fake DD. I think they're both bad cop-outs but don't ruin the story or anything.

Pretty good issue. I still think Daredevil should have been D-Man. It was set up so perfectly... :(

I was pretty satisfied that it wasn't just Iron Fist "helping Matt out." The added factor that he was getting paid to do this made it a bit more logical.

On the other hand, what idiot hero doesn't ask some questions when he's asked to do something like that?

Clearly this whole arc takes place right before Civil War. Because if Iron Fist is parading around as DD prior to Matt's blessing, I'd imagine the other heroes wouldn't be too happy about it.
