Nah, not lame, exactly (Foggy would have been lame. Fury would have been lame. Echo was lame) but not earth-shaking, either. Which is, in a story-sense, better. It means the why and how are more imprtant than the WHAT?!

Spoiling it in a Director's Cut of Civil War, 2 entire issues in advance of the Daredevil issue that it's revealed in? Now THAT'S lame. And sloppy.

Personally, I find the whole "fake" Daredevil pointless to begin with. Especially if they're gonna toss him in Civil War and beat around the bush by haveing characters call him "Daredevil" and not his real name. Spoilers don't bother me especially if it's about things that have been going on for months and come to an "Oh" kind've revealation.

mini? I presume this must take place after the reveal or something.

D-Man would have been better.
 
So, MWOF, apparently Marvel decided have a "marvelous" time, and printed at least three versions (or at least passed three versions around) of the redacted text.

Thus far, we have versions which say:

Huge fan though I may be of the Hawkeye character, I don't want it to be him. Hell, I have MONEY riding on it not being him....

I don't really care who it is, as long as it works for the title, and isn't just someone yanked in from outside. And not Foggy, either. Or Echo. Or Black Widow. Or Milla. Or, dammit, Karen Page, back from the dead. So, you know, I'm not really picky...
 
I hope these are all red herrings. Please let it be D-Man, Mr. Brubaker... it's been set up perfectly... :(

Okay, conspiracy theory time - the more I think about this, the less likely it is. Marvel went to the trouble and expense of breaking of breaking up a print run and substituting a single page for a very obscure one-line joke? That just doesn't seem likely. The copy I saw in-store said Iron Fist. I've seen (or heard of) on-line scans that said other things. What if all the on-line stuff is part of the joke? The physical copies say one thing, but the web has been "salted" as it were, with fake copies?

I dunno, am I ready for the tin-hat brigade here?
 
Okay, fellow UC posters - if you looked at Civil War #1 Director's Cut at your local comics store, what did the text actually say? Everyone I've talked to (that I trust) saw a copy that said one thing, and the only versions I've seen that said something else are scans up on the internet. So... did you look at the text, and what did yours say?
