Countdown Series Discussion (SPOILERS!)

I hear the challengers are going to travel to the Supremeverse to beat up Doom. And the 80's squadron. and 616 Black Panther. and Jeph Loeb.

I'd love an Exiles/Challengers or Exiles/Booster Gold mini.

Do any of the countdown spinoffs look like they're worth checking out?

I have a sneaking each one will have another mini coming out of the end of it, and each one of those will tie into Final Crisis. Or they all will, I can't work out how many issues until Final Crisis.

I didn't think any of them had particularly good writers on them. They put Adam Beecham on the Countdown to Adventure one, which is Adam strange, animal man and starfire, but their story in 52 was the most boring one, and I've only ever read like 4 beecham comics (Robin OYL).

I quite like all this Elseworld in continuity stuff, as long as they keep it to normal elseworlds (like what ifs?) or Kingdom Come, rather than Watchmen or whatever, and the elseworlds are still completely self-contained

The first Search For Ray Palmer and Countdown to Mystery were both good.

I love the fact that proj came in here to say his bit about Watchmen, and then never came back to back it up...

How many tie-in minis are there? Are they all gonna be lead-ups to Final Crisis, I'm not that excited about it yet.

A lot.

Countdown To Mystery
Countdown To Adventure
The Search For Ray Palmer
Gotham Underground
Salvation Run
Countdown - Arena
Lord Havok & The Extremists
Death Of The New Gods

Newsarama: Okay Mike, first off...the Crime Society. How did Kyle know them previously as the Crime Syndicate? When was he on the Anti-Matter Earth to meet the Syndicate? Part of the Sinestro Corps War?

Mike Carlin: He met them in Morrison & Quitely's JLA: Earth 2 graphic novel.

NRAMA: And in this story yet to be seen, Power Ring encounters the GL Corps?

MC: As with many multiple Earth discussions... Ya lost me, Matt. What story yet to be seen?

Newsarama/DC editors/Countdown are so stupid.

Jokester was pretty cool.

A sane heroic Joker.....well maybe not sane.

This past issue seemed a bit more up to snuff... but I agree that it doesn't even approach the greatness of 52.

It's getting better? because I dropped it a few weeks ago.

Watching the crossover between All-New Atom and Countdown just underscored exactly how bad the series is. The writing in Countdown is simply horrible, but that's just the start of it. Instead of using the multiverse as a way to tell more diverse and better stories, they're just milking the universes as quickly as possible. Most of the characters introduced or revitalized in 52 are being treated mediocre. And then there's Arena.

It just feels like the 90's again.

Yeah, so we're almost halfway through. and 20 PLUS ISSUES of a comic can be summed up effectively in a few sentences.

Holly Robinson falls in with the Amazonians, and though suspect of their motivations, goes along for the ride.

Mary Marvel gets powers from Black Adam and travels from place to place meeting various members of the DCU while she becomes more evil.

Jason Todd and Donna Troy travel from place to place meeting various members of the DCU searching for Ray Palmer and getting their butts handed to them.

Jimmy Olsen manifests powers and travels from place to place meeting various members of the DCU to figure out what's happening to him.

Karate Kid and Una travel from place to place meeting various members of the DCU to figure out what the great disaster is.

Trickster and Piper are on the run.....traveling...from place to place..meeting various members of..the...

f*** it.

anyone else still reading this crap? i read somewhere the New Gods' killer was recently revealed in Birds of Prey. who is it and should i care?
