Countdown Series Discussion (SPOILERS!)

Ray Palmer was found and Bob is going to kill him.

That is kinda of interesting, the latter issues are a little better written in some spots.

Needless toi say, I've been reading (downloading) Countdown since the mid 30's or so. I never got the beginning of this series, but from what I read I didn't need too.

Now, on to this weeks.

First off, no Piper. This man is shackled to a dead Trickster in the middle of nowhere going insane, and he's about to be blown up. Yet, he wasn't in this week.

What we do get is Monarch's war (his army by the way, features no one that made it in Countdown:Arena), against the Monitors. Now, these guys are suppose to be all powerful yet are getting their butts handed to them from two bit Supermen, Green Lanterns and Booster Golds.

Now, the Monitor known as Solomon, after absorbing Bob last week, realizes his devious plan isn't going to work and gets a meeting from Superman Prime.

And that was about it.

Oh, Jimmy Olsen is gaining power from the Dead Gods.

He didn't. He tried to and it was part of his plan (to absorb all of the monitors and be The One Monitor of the multiverse) but it didn't succeed and it was THAT that made him realize that his plan was failing.

I figure after the sales dipped after a handful of issues, they probably thought people would either buy them out of completion or buy the ones toward the end to lead into final crisis. so putting all the plot into the last 20/15 issues.

I'll read it one day, but 52 had such a satisfying conclusion (especially ralph dibney story, and WWIII). And it wasn't like when i got to the end it said, this story continues in blah...like lots of 'events seem to be doing' more building up than actual conclusion. 52 finished and left me wanting more, countdown isn't doing that, it's all just prelude. I can't care too much about prelude.

I love the fact that proj came in here to say his bit about Watchmen, and then never came back to back it up...

You'll see.

*suspicious of mr.project*

Why, yes. Batman is entirely capable of building a computer that can assimilate an entire planet of gods. Why do you ask?

I believe you are correct, but Batman shouldn't be able to build a Brother Eye to begin with. He has never shown that level of technical expertise.

Wayne tech sold so many weapons to the government that I think Bruce could just order people to build it saying that it will be sold but ultimately using it. Like his cars, jets, etc.

Edit: Of course that all of this can't explain how that machine could assimilate a whole planet controled by a GOD.
