Countdown Series Discussion (SPOILERS!)

I believe you are correct, but Batman shouldn't be able to build a Brother Eye to begin with. He has never shown that level of technical expertise.

aye.

at least now we know what the hell the meandering Piper and Trickster homage to Bing Crosby/Bob Hope road movies was about.

Yeah, I particularly like how they clued us in sometimes during the previous 42 issues and didn't just spring it at us out of nowhere with no basis for the revelation in any of Piper's previous appearances.

Sodomy Of The New Gods!

They're not gonna be dead, but their asses sure will be sore.

Countdown hasn't been all bad I need more Joker! The thing thats the worst is the death of the new gods. The stuff in this mini and and the mini itself just plain reeks of suckitude.

Okay, as much as I'm loving the Holly, Harley, Mary Show, they need to get to hurrying up and giving Mary her new guardians.

I mean, if Diana can be the champions of the Hawaiian gods, maybe Mary will be the champion of the New Gods.

See to me that's the weakest story going on right now besides the karate kid. The Mary stuff was really good until she lost her dark powers.

Ugh. You like that plot?

Diana being a champion for the Hawaiian gods is awesome, and I love the idea of the New Gods being Mary's patron, but I doubt it'll happen. She'll get her Greek gods back.

Okay, compare the levels of crap that is Countdown, you'll see that their story is the only tolerable one.

Honestly, I just want to see Freddie die, and Mary take her rightful place as The Captain Marvel

Eh, I kind of like Freddy. I could definitely jive with Mary taking over as Captain Marvel. What I'd like to see is a Marvel book that focuses on all three characters, with Billy as Shazam, Mary as Captain Marvel and Billy as, I don't know, something else? We always have the angle with him of "guy in a wheelchair is able to overcome his disability by turning into a superhuman". Maybe he finds a patron in the gods of technology, or something, and he wields useful new powers, but he's still confined to his wheelchair.

LOL good joke. The only good story is Piper. The rest are very bland and pointless in the long run (with the one exception being the challengers). The whole Harley and Holly story is stupid. I love Harley but only when shes acting crazy. In this book she is just a brat.

Yeah, guess what, there's this neat thing called personal preference. So, keep yours cordial, and don't give people **** for theirs.

I totally agree, and the idea for the Gods of Technology would be pretty awesome, especially if someone like Ellis or Morrison wrote it.

Issue 07 was more fast moving action. It isn't literature, it isn't horrible, it's just a bit of fun that takes my mind off the troubles of the world once a week. 07 does make clear the problem with all these universes though. Wheres the alternate Jimmy, Mary, Harley etc on this earth? Various earths worked for DC when they were an occasional event but Didio though he could turn them into an ongoing story machine. I wonder if he's thinking again.

Billy Batson is the new Shazam, and subsequently, locked up in the Rock of Eternity. He monitors mystical disturbances around the world, but spends most of his time as a bored Billy Batson (who later takes on to exploring the non-Euclidian Rock).

Mary Marvel is the new Captain Marvel, maybe with a new pantheon, and she fights around Fawcett City, which has stayed all Norman Rockwell and has suitable magic weirdness surrounding it, 'cuz of the Rock of Eternity.

Freddie Freeman is, uuhh, something else? He's still crippled, but he can commune with the Six Mythic Cities of the Modern Gods (Silicon Valley, Hollywood, Atlantis(?), Zion, something else (Atlantic City?), and Metropolis (Fritz Lang's Metropolis, not Superman's Metropolis). Here he can walk free.

And factor in Morrison's Seven Men, this would work out to be one of the coolest ideas. Instead, they do **** like handing over the Marvels to Winnick to produce one of the most unreadable pieces of **** ever printed.

For sure. It could easily tie into the Sheeda as well. The idea would be to make Fawcett City the center of magic in the DC Universe and Captain Marvel the champion of magic. You have Mary actively interacting with all the pantheons of the world. You have old Captain Marvel villains mixed with fresh, Morrisonian ideas. And you temper the Mary superhero stories with Billy's fantastic child adventures in the Rock, and even Burroughs and ritual inspired magical journeys with Freddie Freeman in the Six Cities (which would each have its own pantheon). So you have three different varieties of magical stories all twined together. You don't lost the wonder of the old Billy Batson stories because he's still there, and he's still going on Captain Nemo-esque superhero adventures, and it's still hooked into his replacement's story. Don't even call it "Captain Marvel". Just call it "Marvel!".

Word. Winnick's one of the worst in the business.

07 didn't knock me out. I didn't see why we were visiting yet another alternate Earth but now it all becomes clear with 06. This Kamandi fan from way back is excited. Keep your eye on that grandson.
