Captain America Movie

Matt Damon is not a good choice for Capt America. Aside from the fact that he's a touch too old to play Cap (especially with the huge franchise being built around the character), I just don't think he's the person to personify Capt America.

10 (hell...even 5) years ago, if they were looking for an older Steve Rogers, Aaron Eckhardt would've been great. Him or Mark Valley.

I don't know where the idea of Hamm for Capt came into play, but that's just wrong. Period. Hamm IS Reed Richards and anyone who says otherwise is a great big doodyhead.




Honestly, I still want Sam Worthington....or another virtual unknown. But of all the actors that have been heavily rumored (especially the Top 3), Pine would be my pick. Evans is too charming to waste in a role like Cap. He's better suited for someone more carefree like Deadpool, Spider-Man or even Iron Fist. But Pine has the perfect balance of charisma and leadership to properly bring Cap to life. I mean if you're good enough to play James T. Kirk...then Steve Rogers is a walk in the park.

Without even screen-testing? Retarded. I pray this somehow works, but right now this is a huge disappointment, just as it would've been for me if they'd up and cast Hugh Jackman as Tony Stark in '07. Jackman and Evans are great, but I don't like this line of thinking. Especially, again, since they apparently didn't even screen-test him.

I still think Chris Evans is the best choice. We know he'll look good in a tight superhero outfit, and he actually has the chops to hold his own against Tony Stark.

So, yeah... I'm really happy about this.
 
It will be interesting to see him play another character who is larger than life, but still really different than torch was.

I think he'll do well.

The more I think about it, the more happier I get. I just really want to se him in costume now!
 
... I am displeases. That's not to say I don't have hope, I just think there were much better suited candidate for this.
 
I don't like it. Granted I haven't seen him in anything other than F4, but I still don't like it.

If he hadn't been cast as Johnny Storm before it might be better, but the characters of Johnny and Steve Rogers are so different that it will be too distracting to take him seriously. For all of F4's problems (I thought so little of it I haven't even been able to bring myself to watch Rise of the Silver Surfer), he WAS Johnny Storm. maybe that signifies he's a great actor, but I don't think so.

It's a different swagger and a different character. Whether fair or not, he's Johnny Storm and therefore can't be Captain America.

I would agree, except that I saw him in Sunshine, and he was completely different. At the beginning of the movie, I saw him and thought, hey it's Torch! And then I completely forgot he was Torch b/c his character was so completely different. He'll pull it off.

Besides, the FF granchise is being rebooted anyway.

He was very different and great in Sunshine, and sort of halfway between in Cellular, but I still don't think either performance reflects what I'm looking for in a Captain America.

I agree that playing Cap requires a certain presence that I haven't seen in him. But he's shown himself versatile enough for me to trust that he'll do well.
