Captain America Movie

I know it's a figure of speech, but there's still a difference between using it and just saying you don't like the choice. I don't get why he's saying that figure of speech is justified here. These types of debates are known all over the net for being sidetracked by ridiculous extremes, so immediately using one on an actor like Krasinski who we've seen relatively little from and who fits many of the standards we've all been talking about anyway just seems silly.

I'm not trying to be rude Planet-man, really I'm not, but you're the only one who got sidetracked by it. No one else responded.
Langsta overstated his opinion, as people tend to do. Sure, it was a silly thing to say, but not as silly as jumping down his throat for it.

Anyway, Chris Evans has my vote, just based on the look. Those other guys are a little too baby faced. And the one has a really long neck.

Just a month ago I would have scoffed at the idea of Chris Evans as Cap, but I saw Sunshine last week and I have to say he played a serious role better than I previously thought he was capable of.

Still not my first choice, but better than Krasinski by a wide margin.

It could also be because I'm the only one who is actively for the idea of Krasinski as Captain America, so no one else disagreed strongly enough to care?

Evans was great in Sunshine, and Cellular for that matter, but I really, really dislike the idea of them using another well-known Marvel lead for this. I also think he's kind of too "pretty", rather than old-school all-American the way I think Kransinski's more like.

Or it could just be hyperbole.

Krasinski may not be the WORST choice, but he's up there next to Robin Williams and Ray Romano on my big list of goofy looking guys I don't want portraying my childhood heroes on the big screen.

I'm surprised I never heard anything about Matt Damon being considered, everytime I see a commercial for Green Zone I keep thinking he's perfect for Cap.

I remember him being loudly considered like ten years ago, but I think he's too old for it now.

I think he looks youthful enough to pass for post operation rebirth early twenties with the right make up he could definitely make it work. I'd imagine they would have used sand ins cgi and make up to make him look scrawny. But personally I'd rather they get the best actor that's right for the role than focus so closely on age.

I agree in theory, but I think you have to draw the line somewhere. Damon will be forty by the time they made this, and late forties by the time they shoot an Avengers sequel. I think that's too old for this, and make-up and CGI can only go so far in so many scenes.

Again, I don't really care about the actual age, he looks can pull off 20's. With an idea of the effect of super soldier serum adding how stress and war can make a soldier look aged. It's really not anywhere near a stretch for him to play this role

He just means he doesn't like the choice. It's a figure of speech.

I just keep picturing Captain America fighting Red Skull and then Red Skull saying something stereotypically evil and Cap looking at the camera and raising his eyebrows!

Actually, if Dwight was Red Skull and Jim was Cap, that would be the best superhero spoof EVER!

The Avengers Office? Brilliant

Funny you should say that....

Thats what Sam Jackson's deal was, or something like that

Still think that Sam Worthington would be a good choice
well that makes sense, he's Samuel L. Jackson, he's gonna have a cameo in every movie..er, i meant he's Nick Fury he's going to have a cameo in every movie.

 YES!

EDIT: oh, i didn't see that cartoon! AWESOME! I SO want the Office to do a spoof of this on the show!

I hope Weaving doesn't play the Red Skull. As great as he would be, I can't help but feel he's everywhere when it comes to big villains.

But then again, this could be biased talks since he does show up in a LOT of Dreamcasting rounds.
