Captain America Movie

I am in the Chris Evans camp. There hasn't been a front-runner who I think could hold his own against RDjr like Evans could... Plus, with the F4 franchise dead in the water with the possibility of Fox rebooting it... I'd like to see Evans have a place in the Marvel hierarchy assured.

Weaving as Red Skull is a great choice. While I agree with Planet-Man and VVD that he's too regular a casting choice when it comes to villains, he has the perfect forehead to play Red Skull.

PERFECT FOREHEADS LIKE THAT ONLY COME ALONG ONCE IN A LIFETIME!!!!

So, I'm actually going to plug something that's not my own writing, but it is on 30 Ninjas, 'cause I thought all of you interested in the Cap movie would like to know that director Joe Johnston is going to be blogging there on a regular basis. It'll give some cool insights into the making of the film, some behind the scenes stuff, and maybe some breaking news and footage. His first piece is already up there and it's a short bit about one aspect of his personal film-making process. Check it out here.

It's been reported that Channing Tatum is in the running for the role of Captain America. I would post a link, but it just makes me to depressed.

I'm starting to get a bad feeling about this movie.

I can't imagine any of these actors standing next to Downey, Jr.'s Tony Stark and BEING Captain America. :(

Yeah, I don't think any of the people they have suggested would be able to pull the character off. That's why I think they need to go older, even if it is contrary to what is in the comic book.

Alex Ross thinks Jon Hamm should be Captain America.

They need to get someone like this and use Benjamin Button style CGI to deage him for the earlier stuff.

Jon Hamm as Captain America would be awesome!! I can actually picture him holding his own against RDJ.

They would never go for it though. I really have a bad feeling about this movie. They should definitely be looking older than they are...screw it if it doesn't fit with the comic book. It's more important that the movie is good and works with the rest of the stuff they've set up than that it be 100% true to the comic.

Definitely, you should constrain yourself like this and be open to getting the best actor for the job.

I never realised he had played so many comic characters.

I don't care about this movie.

Ugh. Evans hasn't even screen-tested and they're offering it to him? He could end up being great, but right now this whole thing just pisses me off so much.

Out of all the hundreds and hundreds of actors out there who fit the bill physically, known or unknown, with this much time to put it together, how is this even possible? Just get the guy who already starred as a completely different Marvel character in two high-profile films! With no screen test for this one! Even though he's already contracted for another movie when this is shooting?

How the **** did this happen when Damon, Pine, Krasinski and at least a BUNCH of very good unknown actors must've been considered?

why isn't anyone cosindering Aaron Eckhardt ?

I'd assume because Marvel is only looking at younger actors. He'd be good, but if they ended up going with someone older I'd still prefer Hamm.

Considering some of the other actors they were looking at I'm actually ok with Chris Evans.
