During the Juggernaut's previous fight with Spidey, he destroyed two walls in an office building by crashing through them. The Captain Universe guy (Nguyen) worked in that building. The business housed there was sent into financial troubles because of the damage, and had to lay off some staff, including Nguyen. He couldn't find any comparable work, so he became destitute, his girlfriend left him, and he became homeless when he couldn't pay rent.

my LCS let me trade my copy in for a complete copy. I was actually missing six pages of story. No wonder i was confused.

Yeah, it was a good end to the story. I really like Roger Stern's stuff a lot.

You know, ever since I saw Bachalo's drawings in Ultimate War I thought he sucked balls...
But strangely enough when I read the recent snow god arc (and the Hammerhead arc, both which he drew) I completely fell in love with his art and thought it was a perfect fit for Spider-Man! Loved his art in #630, and am expecting awesomeness with his Lizard in #631 :D

I used to despise Bachalo, but he's really impressed me in recent years and he does a great job with this issue of Spider-Man. The issue itself was pretty good with Peter finally making good on a promise to Carly, and Zeb Wells did a good job of making me simultaneously feel sorry for and get creeped out by Conners. Also, the next issue is being drawn by Emma Rios, so yay!

I never liked Bachalo and for me, too, it started with his work on Ultimate War. That stuff was terrible.

But I do agree that he has been significantly better on ASM, and I say that without having seen the latest stuff. He was pretty decent on the arc with the blizzard (early BND era)

I loved JMS' Peter Parker/MJ stuff. The mystical spider totem stuff... not so much.

I think that was also JRJR's best art.

I just read ASM #631 and I have to admit, I have NO idea what happened at the end. Did the Lizard kill Billy? Did Curt Connors stop him? I really couldn't tell.

Didn't that happen years ago?

EDIT: Wikipedia says it was cancer:
Although reunited after Curt's apparent death, tragedy later struck again in the Connors family - this time for Martha and Billy. Both mother and son were diagnosed with cancer after years exposed to carcinogens from living near an industrial lab of the Monnano Corporation in Florida. Spider-Man assisted Curt in successfully forcing Monnano to admit their environmental culpability. However, Martha succumbed to the cancer and died.

SO...
the Annual was a waste of money

and in ASM #632: The lizard did indeed kill Billy Conners and then evolved into a more intelligent, more hairy lizard that can cause humans to give in to their baser instincts and act like lizards... meh.

Dude! Even if you don't like the story (I don't think it's bad, although it's not a great story), that gorgeous Bachalo art is worth the price of admission alone. Bachalo makes the story worth telling.
