It's a very, very fine line between so bad, and so bad it's good.

I always thought that the Clone Saga was a very interesting idea that was executed poorly, and that was before they stretched it out to the point that it became basically unreadable. And I thought it was funny that people got so upset to find out Peter Parker was the clone. I liked the idea.

i'm looking forward to this as well. I haven't read the whole clone saga (i didn't collect comics when the clone saga was out and i have a hole in my back issue collection spanning ASM 400ish-441 - aka i'm missing a quarter of every story arc from the clone saga) so i've been spared from knowing first hand how bad it was. I like the concept too, so let's do this!

So I just found this article (i think that's what it was, but it looks more like a forum post) from Newsarama. It's old and I'm sure most of you have read it before, but I didn't know it existed. It's a series of statements from JMS and Joe Q about OMD. It's actually pretty interesting if you haven't read it.

Anyway, the reason I bring it up is b/c in this article, JMS quotes Joe Q as having said: "He [Mephisto] makes everybody forget Peter's Spider-Man." And I'm wondering if that's why some of you guys think that Mephisto did indeed erase everyone's memories (as opposed to someone else like...mmmm...I don't know, Madame Web for instance )

I'd just like to point out that Joe Q also says that Mephisto "undoes" Aunt May's house burning down. But in the first arc of Brand New Day, Harry says that he paid for Aunt May's house to be rebuilt. So it's clear to me that all the stuff that changed did so b/c Mephisto messed with time, but many of the changes also have explainations behind them.

The editors of ASM have been stating in the letters pages for a while now that they were going to explain why no one remembers that Peter is Spider-Man eventually. I'm convinced there's more to it than just "Mephisto did it" and my suspicion is that it was Madame Web.

That's all.

Except that JMS's idea for One More Day made way more sense than what we got. But I'm glad they didn't bring Gwen Back, that would have been a travesty.

I dunno about that. I always liked MJ because of the animated series back in the 90s, but last year I started reading all the Spidey issues, and I must say I prefer Peter's interaction with Gwen than MJ so far (I just started reading the 1994 comics, so I'm about 2 issues from
learning that Peter's parents aren't his parents
). MJ was awesome after Gwen's death and up untill the marriage, but after they got married I just found her really obnoxious.
JMS issues seem to have a more interesting take on their marriage though, so I dunno :)

You are awesome.

For the shear fact that you are trying to prove this.

If you turn out to be right, kudos, but I have no idea why you think it's Madame Web considering she's only been brought up once since this whole thing started, and it was for someone to beat her up.

no, i agree that Gwen and Peter had an amazing relationship. But that's the thing. Gwen was Peter's first true love. And she was thrown off a bridge by his mortal enemy. That was a defining moment in the Spider-Man mythos. You don't mess with stuff like that. Just like Jason Todd should never have been brought back (and yet Loeb did), Gwen should NEVER be brought back.

and i don't think you need to spoiler something that happened 15 years ago.

They weren't his parents, you know that and you haven't even read it yet.

THEY'RE NOT PETER'S PARENTS!

now everybody knows

well when it turns out that i'm right, i expect a kudos from everyone who doubted me!

Surely you realize that anything can be retconned whether it makes sense or not.

The timeline is never going to get fixed/revert back to how it was is it?

so everything turned out pretty okay for Peter after all.

I don't mind that he and Michelle Gonzalez are dating now, actually that's kind of funny. It's just too bad about Flash.

Overall, that was a pretty good arc.

Next week's the epilogue dealing with where MJ has been and then we get the return of Black Cat - with this solit:

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN # 606
The Story: Look out, Spidey! Hot on the heels of his old girlfriend's trip home, The Black Cat's back (and front!), sexier and more dangerous than ever! That is a terrible solicit. Shameful.

I read ASM #605 today. I really liked it.

The first chapter was kinda meh, but the next two were good. I lol'ed at some of the online dating profiles Peter watched.

Next week, Black Cat, so BRAce yourselves!

"I don't know why I'm yelling at you, but it feels good! AND THAT'S ONE TO GROW ON!"
"Norah, That's my room!"

:D

yeah, i don't understand that line.

So when Joe Q said they wanted to end Peter and MJ's marriage to make him more relatable to a younger audience, he really meant that they wanted to end his marriage with MJ so they could have him have sex with a different woman every 5 issues or so. Yeah, I'm sure every young reader an relate to that.

Oh good. I thought I was alone in thinking this.

I really wish something would be done with Jameson as mayor. That's such a good plotline idea that's been so wasted. They should have him oppose HAMMER or something.

seriously.

Is this an all ages book or not?

they aren't showing anything, but just the offhanded lines about carrots, and having to change the bedsheets...

he's an adult, he has sex, i get that. But that doesn't have to be the main character-related plot point.

Besides that, i liked it,

Best line: "Is your incessant flirting a form of tourette's?"
