With Quesada as EIC and Brevoort still as one of the Exec Editors, never.

OK. So basically them trying to clean up the continuity mess before it inevitably gets retconned?

(I reserve my right of denialbility.)

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if they make it worse. Because even though I enjoy the hell out of BND and everything else afterwards, I do know that there are still problems with it.

I admit, a part of me wants to read BND and so on, but it's more or less vetoed by the part of me that thinks "GRRRRR JOE Q IS A JERKFACE SPIDEY DONT WORK WITH SATAN BOYCOTT BND YEAHGRBLBLBLBLBL"

What's so good about it that makes people willing to forget OMD?

I found Brand New Day dull and dropped it. It also annoyed me.

Unless you know what MJ really told Mephisto, for example, yes.

Namely the fact that every human being on the planet besides you and me hates it with a fiery passion.

Which is why I ask why you like it.

I hated OMD, but I admit I never really gave BND and so on a chance out of spite.

I'm not going to decry you for liking it, I'm just curious.

For me it's just been the atmosphere of the series that's been going on. It feels like we're back to having classic Spider-Man that we really haven't seen in quite some time.

Also, taking a break from the classic villains was nice for a few months. This is not me saying that the new ones brought in are better, but it's a nice little addition. Of course there are still some little things that may irk, but really, what issue doesn't have things that bother someone out there?

^ This.

The stories aren't perfect, but they are humorous and light, and they feel exactly like a Spider-Man story should. ESPECIALLY the Dan Slott issues.

I've said this before - OMD really grew on me, but I totally get why someone might hate it. However, I wouldn't advise avoiding BND just because you hated (or thought you might hate) OMD. They are nothing alike. It's not like a continuation, it's more like OMD wiped the slate clean and BND started anew.

You, sir, have totally nailed it.

My hesitance regarding Brand new day at first had nothing to do with quality of story. I was pissed at Marvel, and the only way they can feel the fact that I really disapproved of what they did was to drop the title.

That said, Romita's return has my interest piqued, and im considering picking it up again.

Same. I got over OMD, which I hated, and tried to give it a shot because I was excited about the talent involved. I read the first couple of issues and was really unimpressed with the new status quo and the new villains. I thought eventually I'd go back and catch up through the trades, but then I saw Anti-Venom and Menace and lost all interest in the book.

I wish I had liked it though since I love Spider-Man and I hate passing him up every time I go to the LCS.

I am extremely upset with how much I enjoyed "Character Assassination", although I still think Harry and Norman should remember Peter's identity, the one thing I approve of in all of this bull**** OMD fallout, is the revival of Harry Osborn.

*sigh* I guess I'm back to picking up the book... Or at very least, some of the stories (I'm not sure if a Spot story really interests me).

okay, so i just picked up and read the most recent two issues of ASM
#589 was a single-issue about The Spot that leads into the "Dark Reign: Mr Negative" miniseries that's coming up

it was pretty cool, and Spidey trying to be more like Batman was humorus.

#590 had some pretty major reveals/teases about why no one knows Spidey's secret identity, i'm really looking forward to next week's issue to see the conclusion.

Harry? Flash? Vin? American Eagle? John Jameson?

Captain Falcon?

If it's Vin, then the suit has robot legs.

sorry sir, but you are incorrect

I thought Flash was the one with the blown off legs.

yep

I kind of think it's Harry

The story is called American Son, it's about the Osborns, and it has a picture of what appears to be Iron Man, but is probably Iron Patriot in the background
