Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

"Curses, it's Spider-Man!" and another said "he's going to foil our evil plans!" .

Anyone know what that's from?

Every cartoon with a villain since 1935 to 1990...

... so does that mean you actually have a counter argument or just assuming the nexus is never wrong?

Okay. How about THESE plot holes:

1) Why does Biff even RETURN the Delorian to 2015? Why not just... explode it? Or go somewhere else? (Because if it worked like it's SUPPOSED to - i.e. everything changes instantly - then he could return to 2015 and live his life of luxury, much like Marty returns to 1985 to discover his father's a novelist. In other words, this ISN'T a plot hole as long as the ORIGINAL plot hole I mentioned is a plot hole. If THAT isn't a plot hole, then THIS is. Double check mate and match mutha ****a.)

2) How does Biff FLY the Delorian?!!?! How does he know how to use it? How to refuel it? Sure - he can set the coordinates (it's nicely labelled) but he doesn't know about the 88mph. What about Mr Fusion? He might know what Mr Fusion is, but did he have to fill it up before he travelled, and then fill it up when he left? How come Doc didn't have to fill it up when he left 2015? How many trips can Mr Fusion make?

3) If Marty doesn't travel back to 1885 Doc dies - however - if he does Doc doesn't die. Fine. Except, if he doesn't travel back, if he doesn't save Doc, then Doc NEVER MEETS Clara. If he never meets Clara, then the tombstone doesn't say "Beloved Clara" on it because she and Doc don't meet UNLESS Marty travels back in time - and if he does, there's no tombstone. There's no reason Clara's name should be on the tombstone. It makes no sense. But because it's there, we feel Doc's love for Clara is destined to be and not hokey. The plot hole actually makes that sub-plot make sense...

PLOT HOLES ABOUND.

But the film is still awesome and I love it. :D

... what? Well for what ever reason Biff decided to return the delorian, maybe he figured Doc could build another one and to make it seem like nothing happened he returned it. And maybe the presents of "out of time" agents prevented an instant change of the world

Biff is from the future, I'm sure in a society with flying cars and old man can recklessly drive a car over 88 mph, and maybe with the advancements in technology 90 has become the new 35. And we can assume mr fusion is from the same period

Well I don't think the 1955 Doc mention Clayton's Ravine, so we can assume it possible that Doc is in the area for some other reason if Marty never came back so he can save her.

See this is the great thin about BTTF is that the science behind time travel is paradox free and can all be explained in a pretty logical, though complex, way. And to swing things back on topic, Spider-man is not BTTF and should not be as flexible

Or we could, ya know, talk about Amazing Spider-Man.

Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

So let's get this straight.

Marvel has a No-Smoking Ban, but it's okay to show someone using Meth?

Yeah, reeaaaaaaaal smooth.

Well, technically he didn't do meth he did what he thought was meth.

Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

And you think a 12 year old who picks it up will tell the difference?

Well it's not like they used it in a positive light unlike with smoking witch is use to make a character look badass.

I mean he turned into a monster because he was a junkie.

The point is he was using drugs and whatnot. Marvel doesn't even want to show people smoking, so they shouldn't show people doing drugs.

Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

So I got issues 546-549 (and 555) out of the ten-for-a-dollar box and they were really really good. I even went out and bought 550-551. I would've got all of them, but they didn't have 552.

Anyway, what I read was awesome. I don't know if I trust Gale, as his Aunt May story in 546 was the worst part, but I'll give it a shot.

The book is fun, and I love the presentation. Why couldn't they do this years ago, and why can't they do this with a married Spider-Man? There's no excuse for the book ever losing its sense of fun.

Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

Is anyone else getting fed up of the current trend of "Oooh quick, new issue, means we have to create another 20 new villains this week that noone will care about or even remember the names of in 2 years time!"?

Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

To be honest, I have to say no. It's not really bothering me at all. I've really been enjoying the series more than ever since BND started.

No. I like the new villains so far.

Not at all.

Anything's better than yet another Green Goblin story where he shows up and goes, "Bah. I killed Gwen Stacey twenty years ago" as he did in Millar's ridiculous run.

No one minded when JMS kept inventing a new villain each arc.

Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

Brand New Day was the most horrible act of editorial fanboy-ism since Alex Ross refused to draw Kyle Rayner due to his love of Hal Jordan. Joey Q really dropped the ball on that one.

On the other hand, BONG! has now become my favorite sound effect.

Re: Amazing Spider-Man series discussion (spoilers)

It doesn't feel like a new villain very arc though, its more a new villain every issue or so.

Freak is... interesting, but the whole evolves to be immune to whatever killed/nearly killed him thing only serves to make me think of a poor mans Doomsday on meth.

Menace seemed like just a way to get a Goblin type character into the book without having a Goblin.

Mr Negative has been the only villain who could prove to be halfway decent.

The stories are good, I just find the villains kinda dull.
