Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. discussion (spoilers)

Pretty sure there was a to be continued at the end of that Marvel Zombies Hostess parody and that didn't make it anymore canon.

I don't even remember. But, considering the fact AoS is arguably much higher profile than MZ and the avenue with which the comic was released (online versus as printed in Wizard Magazine) is also more readily available indicates there's a possibility we'll see more of these. Least I hope so.

I'm considering it canon until we hear otherwise, since it doesn't dispute anything in terms of canon.

So, did anyone watch the most recent episode? I really liked it. Skye was especially awesome. However, I felt like they really didn't tell us anything. How is Coulson still alive? SHIELD did some weird operations on him and erased his memory of it.

Oh, okay.

There's got to be more to it than that. But I'm excited to see where Mike Peterson's story goes.

There is. Personally I'm thinking that the machine that was scanning his brain was likely mapping it, adapting it into a form of storable and transferable data/memories/personality. Then it's either uploaded into a mechanical body (with certain cloned skin/organs included, essentially making it a bio-organic), or the mapped brain is overlaid onto a cloned body, which is a possibility as well.

But I'm excited to see where Mike Peterson's story goes.

Some are theorizing he becomes Deathlok. Not sure how I feel about that.

Yeah, that seems likely. But I'm dissatisfied with the way they handled it. It was presented as a really REALLY anticlimactic reveal. There was nothing hinted at to give a suspicion that more was going on besides the fact that the reveal was boring. It was basically hyped up as "NEXT AGENTS OF SHIELD, FIND OUT HOW COLUSON CAME BACK TO LIFE!" And then the reveal was: "We brought you back to life." I don't need a heavy handed "we're not telling you everything" scene, but their presentation was just very uninteresting.

But anyway, I really did like the episode, that aspect just bothered me.

ugh, I hope not.

Well, the best part of the episode "Seeds" was the reference to Bucky Barnes. I love stuff like that.

But it was a pretty cool episode over all. I wonder why Skye is an 084… May is still holding something back about her.

Yeah, and they even mentioned tha academy had been there since before SHIELD and that it was originally called the SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve).

Skye has the same past of Mantis.. hmm

Mantis is the half-Vietnamese, half-German daughter of Gustav Brandt—Libra—and was born in Huế, Vietnam. In her childhood, her father leaves her in Vietnam at the Temple of the alien Priests of Pama, a sect of the Kree. The Kree believe she might become the Celestial Madonna and mate with the eldest Cotati on Earth to become the mother of the Celestial Messiah, "the most important being in the universe."

She excels in her martial arts studies, but when she reaches adulthood, she is mind-wiped and sent into the world to gain life experience.

Mantis is green.

In her first appearance and during decades, she wasn't.

I had thought about Mantis until I realized it made zero sense within context of the show.

Yeah, I think it would be cool to have Sterns back, even if he is always prisoner in a tube on shield custody.

Or it could be the Inhuman Maximus, Killian mind downloaded (sort of MODOK) or Jarvis.

But I don't think it will be an original character for the show.. They have made the series around the Clairvoyant and Centipede, so it must be a comics character or it will be a let down.

I clicked the link and I'm still mystified. So Fitz created a monkey AI? Is this something that's coming to the show (hence the "To Be Continued" tag on the one page comic), or is it just a joke?
I think it's probably a joke.
