Re: X-Men Origins: Wolverine News.

Roger Friedman, FoxNews' entertainment columnist, just got fired for downloading and reviewing the pirated copy of this.
Was his review a thumbs up or a thumbs down?

Because if it was the former, would it make any difference from the review he would have been paid to give in the first place?

He gave it a good review. They fired him for watching a pirated movie.

They're selling it right now around the corner from my office.

By sundown, the guy will pack up his shop and he'll be replaced with a transvestite prostitute.

I am not kidding.

Sadly.

Re: X-Men Origins: Wolverine News.

Darn those transvestite prostitutes.

They get all the best movies.

Re: X-Men Origins: Wolverine News.

Apparently a bar in town is screening this tonight.

And by screening I of course mean showing a pirated DVD.

Re: X-Men Origins: Wolverine News.

I kind of feel sorry for Hugh Jackman because he seems like a cool guy that really cares about the character and doing stuff for the fans but... this movie was pretty bad. And it sucks that he couldn't have been part of a good Wolverine movie.

My mum wanted to see this because she likes Hugh Jackman and since I had nothing to do and she was paying, I decided to go as well.

I am glad I didn't pay for it.

It's not terrible. There are some good bits but because there are so many bad bits, you forget the good stuff almost immediately. Hugh Jackman is of course good as Logan but it's nothing that we really haven't seen before in the previous three movies.

I don't know if this movie fits in continuity with the other movies? I think it's supposed to but when you think about the Wolverine/Sabertooth and Wolverine/Stryker conversations in the previous movies... it doesn't seem to fit.

I'm still against all of the unneeded pointless characters because they didn't really add anything. Agent Zero or whatever his name is had a power to shoot guns. Wow. Who cares? Jason Statham can do that and he's not even a mutant. Charlie from Lost/Merry from LOTR could... control electricity or something. And I think he was supposed to be Beak. I don't know. Meh. Kevin Durand as the Blob was ridiculous. That's probably the closest they could get to the Blob actually working on the screen but it was so unintentionally hilarious.

And Gambit was there too for some reason. Who also has badass powers of running up walls and insane athletic ability. And he can throw kinetically charged cards which act as bullets. And he can fly a plane. The fight scene between him and Wolverine was so bad. I can't imagine what the leaked copy's CGI must have looked like. It was worse than some of the CGI in TV shows.

Ryan Reynolds was good as Wade Wilson and made me think how cool an actual Deadpool movie could have been - and I don't even care for the character... and then they bring back him back as Weapon XI at the end... Jesus Christ. This is Deadpool? It was so bad. While I thought the idea/design of Weapon XI was good (like a merging of Morrison's Weapon Plus ideas with that genetic mutant weapon in Millar's UXM), it was so stupid that this was actually Deadpool.

I normally like the guy that plays Sabertooth (I can't remember how to spell his name) but he was just boring in this. And Wolverine's chick kept changing sides.

TOG just interrupted me on MSN and I forgot what else I was going to talk about.

Oh yeah, Cyclops. Cyclops is in it. Along with Emma Frost, who is Wolverine's girlfriend's sister or something. And she can turn into diamonds. There was another bunch of mutants (I'm sure Storm was one of them) and they're all rescued by Xavier at the end... where only two of them will ever be seen again.

The beginning was both good and bad. It starts off like in that Origin story with Logan as a kid and Victor as his friend. Blah blah blah, Victor's dad kills Logan's dad, Logan gets angry and slices him with bone claws, Victor's dad reveals he is Logan's dad... the kids run away. I tried not to laugh at this bit because it was so funny seeing young Logan running with claws.

The best scene were the opening credits showing Logan and Victor in various wars of the last hundred years.

I also prefer the idea that Logan was forced into the Weapon X procedure. In this, he volunteered for it. I don't know if this is part of normal comics continuity but I don't really like this idea. I think it ruins the purpose of the character.

I think this movie had a lot of potential but it was a complete mess because they threw in all of these characters as fanservice or something and didn't really bother with why they were there.
