Re: X-Men Origins: Wolverine News.

Two very interesting bits of Wolverine news

1. Director wanting Gerard Butler to play Sabretooth.

2. Its only a rumour... but I can hope....
Its possible that a certain Mercenary with a sick twisted sense of humour, a bit of a mouth, and a love for Bea Arthur might be popping up in the film...

DEADPOOL!!!!!

Re: X-Men Origins: Wolverine News.

CBR has this part.

Speaking of rumors, CHUD claims that "300" star Gerard Butler is being approached to be Sabretooth and that "Star Wars" actress Natalie Portman is being courted for the role of Kayla.

Who's Kayla?

The X-Men Origins: Wolverine Synopsis
Source: ComingSoon.net
December 12, 2007

In this announcement at ComingSoon.net about 20th Century Fox's 2009 tentpoles, the studio has revealed the official synopsis for X-Men Origins: Wolverine:

X-Men Origins: Wolverine is set to star Jackman and will be directed by Gavin Hood (Tsotsi, Rendition). The producers are Lauren Shuler Donner and Ralph Winter (who produced all three previous "X-Men" films), along with Jackman and his Seed Prods. producing partner, John Palermo. The film will be executive produced by Marvel Films' Kevin Feige.

Leading up to the events of X-Men, X-Men Origins: Wolverine – written by David Benioff (The Kite Runner, Troy) – tells the story of Wolverine's epically violent and romantic past, his complex relationship with Victor Creed, and the ominous Weapon X program. Along the way, Wolverine encounters many mutants, both familiar and new, including surprise appearances by several legends of the X-Men universe.

Sounds intresting

Re: X-Men Origins: Wolverine News.

Why don't they just call it "Wolverine"?

And Gerard Butler is a pretty good choice for this version of Sabretooth. I can see him being a younger, more badass, more talentedly-acted Sabretooth (Butler ain't exactly Jack Nicholson, but hey). Though if I were to cast Sabes in an alternate universe in which there were no X-Men films released yet, I'd cast Clancy Brown.

Because they want to make it sure people know it's an origin movie. Calling it just Wolverine could make people think it could take place during current times or after the X-Men movies.

Re: X-Men Origins: Wolverine News.

Not a bad poster.

Also, it distances itself from a superhero-ish look and piques the interest across a much broader demographic of filmgoers.
I agree. I like the image of the wolverine one him, except that now it looks like he's missing the top of his head

Re: X-Men Origins: Wolverine News.

CBR:

According to the Sunday Star-Times, actor Bailey Chase is in negotiations to play Gambit in the mutant-minded movie.
Actuall, if you read the link, it's still not confirmed whether the role Chase is negotiating for is Gambit. It seems highly likely, but the story never drops the name.

The only indicator is the character description: "He's about 30 years old, a charming southern guy on the surface but he's got some ulterior motives going on underneath. By the end of the film, he's probably not going to be such a nice guy." but they're using the casting alias of "Mr Yellow" for now.

Re: X-Men Origins: Wolverine News.

Gambit's cool , I hope it's him

Re: X-Men Origins: Wolverine News.

It probably is.

I'm just a stickler for accurate reporting and source citations.

That's fair enough , i get that. I just didn't want to say "Glad he's in" after your post as that looks like I either a ) ignored your post or b) were trying to annoy you

Wolverine Filming Dates Extended
Source: He-Man
January 30, 2008

NewstalkZB is reporting that X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which is being filmed in Queenstown, will now wrap in April instead of March:

The company making the $100 million blockbuster, Woz Productions, has applied to vary their resource consent. It wants to extend their filming period from March to April, as well as double their helicopter movements from 10 to 40 each day.

Directed by Gavin Hood, the 20th Century Fox "X-Men" spin-off stars Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber and Kodi Smit-McPhee. It opens in theaters on May 1, 2009.

could this be good as it means more effort? or just something like rain?

Re: X-Men Origins: Wolverine News.

CBR:

USA Today published a new production still (See below) from the spin-off, as well as words from actor Hugh Jackman himself, who said Sabretooth "is going to play a big part in it. And there will be a good bit of cameos ... But you can't give too much away, because fans are pretty hard-core. Their expectations go up a level every time you come out with a new film."
