Ultimates 3 #1-5 discussion [Loeb/Madureira] [spoilers]

Re: The Ultimates 3 #4 discussion (spoilers).

Oh God, this is going to involve Magneto destroying the Ultron Ultimates single-handed, then be all "ha ha, I'm evil and I saved your butts"

Dang it.

Also, I don't expect it to happen, but at the very least, Loeb should verify what's the deal with Venom.

No! He's saving all the answers for Ultimates 4.

Re: The Ultimates 3 #4 discussion (spoilers).

So, Ultimate Black Panther is white.

Big deal. We all *****ed when Ultimate Nick Fury turned out to be black, but in the end we loved him (up untill they screwed him over in Ultimate Power). There is no reason for Black Panther to be black other than 'but in 616 he's an iconic black hero!!'. The ultimate line was meant to step away from 616, we all know that. And having Black in your codename doesnt automatically mean you are a black person. in fact, its INCREDIBLY STUPID it works like that in 616 and I for one welcome the change!

Thor having multiple weapons. Yay! That means he can switch them out! I like this idea as well. I realy liked thor's axehamer and I wouldnt mind if they gave him a different weapon for every series. loeb really did drop the ball on thor by making him use the 616 hammer and old-timey speach. We wouldnt have disliked the new hammer this much if it just was an intirely new design. The 616 hammer could have had a cameo in his weaponrack this issue.

Juggs is alive. This is his first appearance since gambit dropped a building on him, is it not!?

Im trying to salvage the wreckage here. This issue sucks and should never have been made. Please dont buy it.

But, uh, the blackness is pretty essential to the character. It's not like he's just a hero who's colored differently. The idea of the African dynast is pretty much the heart of Black Panther.

Re: The Ultimates 3 #4 discussion (spoilers).

I have to read this

the amount of stupid this has reached is so great, I have to see it happen.

also making the Black Panther white is a bad move, turning Fury Black is one thing, it's not like Fury was the one Scion of white people in Marvel, I mean the Black Panther is like the closest thing to A-List black guy marvel has, Falcon, Bishop, and Blade don't really pull that off

Can you imagine what would have happened if Millar had made Ultimate Storm white?

Re: The Ultimates 3 #4 discussion (spoilers).

I just garnered a newfound respect of IGN with their whopping score of 2.3 for this dreck.

Re: The Ultimates 3 #4 discussion (spoilers).

*Weeps for what might have been*

EDIT: The T2 ripoff in the previews we read seem to make more retarded sense now....
Oh look Cap is a robot... so we should have him use lines from terminator!

Re: The Ultimates 3 #4 discussion (spoilers).

Seeing as Cap wasn't in this issue at all, I'm pretty damn sure he's Black Panther. Which. . .I dunno what to think about

Anyways. . .the idea isn't bad. Ultron being the main bad guy is a good thing. Hell, replacing the Ultimates with robots isn't really a bad idea. It's a little too close to Secret Invasion, but still.

The problem is the dialog. Which is terrible. Also, I still have no ****ing clue what Scarlet Witch and Magneto have to do with this. I'm guessing it's all set up for Ultimatum, but I would have rather had them just used the Ultron plot. *sigh*

I'm just hoping that Thor is a robot and we don't have to deal with the horrible incarnation of him right now.

Even better maybe they're all robots and then we can get the real Ultimates back in the good old days. God, I miss those days.

Totally.

This sounds worse than Ultimate Iron Man. Worse than the first Mighty Avengers arc.

I will be downloading this as soon as I see it available.

It is. It is awful. Honestly I think Super-Pro was better. It is really only morbid curiosity that is keeping me buying at this point. But I am not buying U4. Marvel really needs to see the sales of this crapola go down. But due to people like...well, me, they are not seeing that.

They think this book is great cuz it is selling. *sigh*

Re: The Ultimates 3 #4 discussion (spoilers).

This issue was all over the place, but Lynx was right, the plot isn't a bad idea, and I actually enjoyed reading it (mostly), despite all the wacky character-out-of-nowhere stuff.

I can't believe it'll all be wrapped up in one issue though.

WOW.

That is a bold statement, my friend.

You're starting to sound like Bass.

Hey...when did I get changed to a "sidekick" from "innocent bystander"?

WOW.

That is a bold statement, my friend.

Well, at least with Super-Pro you knew what you were getting. It was crap wrapped in crap clothes. U3 is crap wrapped in....uh...crap?

I have no idea where I am going with this.

Never mind.

The plot COULD be good if it were being handled competantly and wasn't being rushed into 5 issues. I could see where Millar could have made this a really cool story arc.

And I agree about the wrap up also. I imagine the wrap will be ridiculous since the first 4 issues have been all set up. (seemingly 4 panels at a time)

Am I the only one who thinks that in 4 issues almost nothing has happend? I mean Wanda gets shot in issue 1 and since then what has happend? Mags took her body and the Ults are looking for the murderer and the body. That is it. Oh, and the last 2 pages of #4 Ultron is revealed. No mention of what he has to do with Wanda or vice versa.

Yeah, there's tons of stuff going on, but minimal advancement. Oh, and some flashbacks thrown in. I don't know guys, the last two issues have been all right. Ultron having robot Avengers is cool, and if this series was 13 issues long I think it would end up being pretty good.

My biggest complaint is that it felt like an issue of UXM most of the time.

Pip pip, bangers and mash!

This book would probably be better if the first 2 Ult series had never happend. If this was all we had to go on...MAYBE it would be alright. But cast in the shadow of what has come before it, it is a travesty.

Exactly!!! Rushed. Character voices are all wrong and don't really fit with what has already been established, etc. Your right. It is UXM...with worse art.

Re: The Ultimates 3 #4 discussion (spoilers).

I agree with those who are saying the story has some kind of potential. The Brotherhood vs. Ultimates sounds pretty epic. It would be much better if Millar was returning. The fact that Ultimate Ultron has been forced on the title without the anticipation element that Millar pulled off, is a huge let down for the title though. And "who can I trust?" angle is really getting driven into the ground over at Marvel.
